Lance and Mina discuss college decisions after CCM. Lance plans to attend Rutgers for its local reputation and relevant courses. He wants to pursue a bachelor's in criminal justice and a PhD in psychology to become a forensic psychologist. Lance finds CCM's one-on-one interaction with professors helpful for preparation. He sees himself continuing education, applying for internships, and getting a job. His interest in true crime podcasts led him to choose criminal justice as his major. If he were to switch careers, he would become a clinical therapist. Lance plans to commute to Rutgers and prefers a smaller campus. He has become more organized and manages his time better. This information can help others with organization and moving forward in college. I'm Lance, joined with my sister Mina. I'm going to be asking you a couple questions about your college decisions after CCM. So for the first question, what college are you planning on going to after CCM and why do you want to go there? I'm thinking of attending Rutgers and taking their classes on the CCM campus. It's a local college that's well known, so it would be good to put on my resume, but it also has courses for my intended majors. What are your future career plans, or to be more exact, how or what do you plan in terms of moving forward in general? I plan on earning my bachelor's in criminal justice and then earning my PhD in psychology. This will initially help me work towards my goal of becoming a forensic psychologist. What did you find difficult or easy being a student at CCM and do you feel like you're prepared on moving forward? I really like how the courses are run because you get that one-on-one interaction with your professor and you can easily get clarification on material. This makes it really easy to complete at CCM, I feel like, and it definitely helps me prepare for the future because it taught me how to advocate for myself more and take initiative on projects I care about. Where do you plan on seeing yourself within the next couple of years? I see myself continuing my education during my bachelor's degree in criminal justice and then going forward to earn my PhD in psychology. Then by that point, I can see myself starting to apply to different agencies for internships and then getting a job. What are your most memorable moments in college that helped you make your decision for your major? One of the moments I'll never forget when I was thinking about a new major is thinking about my interests outside of school. I thoroughly enjoy listening to True Crime podcasts, following ongoing trials, and watching interrogation tapes on YouTube. This made me realize that becoming a criminal justice major would make me feel the most fulfilled. If you ever decided to switch careers midway, what would you do and how would you do it? If I would do this, it would be to become a clinical therapist. Since I would have my PhD in psychology already, I feel like that would be an easy career switch for me. When it comes to your college that you're moving to, do you plan on staying local with it? Yeah, I do. I plan to attend Rutgers classes through CCM and commute from home. A lot of people feel more comfortable around the certain size of a college or campus. Which type of college do you think suits you best? I definitely feel a smaller campus is better. Bigger campuses can get overwhelming in terms of the actual size of the campus and the student to professor ratio. A smaller campus feels like a much better and more comfortable fit for me. Well, I see that you've changed a lot about yourself in terms of focusing up and being more aware about the things that come at you during your college life. What are some things that you've changed about yourself to help you out? I made more of an effort to organize myself through the past semesters. This was done through simple acts such as having a visual agenda where I could write important due dates down and having a corkboard in my room with each of my class alibi. I also put more effort into managing my time better and made sure to dedicate the proper amount of time to each assignment. That's something I've been working on about myself too. Just being more organized with everything. Overall, I feel like we've gained some valuable and helpful information that can help out a lot of people, especially including me, considering I used to be very unorganized and keeping stuff together. And overall, how to keep moving forward at a steady pace during college. I'm I'm I'm
