The call was from Rob Pierce of Pierce Insurance Group. He discussed health insurance options with Max, who currently pays $2,000 a month on COBRA with high deductibles. Rob suggested a new plan with a $969 monthly premium, including chiropractic care. The plan involves health surveys for healthy individuals, with Rob as the field underwriter. They discussed additional coverage like dental and vision. Max is interested in exploring the new plan further. This call from the Pierce Insurance Group will be recorded for quality purposes. This is Rob Pierce, health insurance agent, reaching out to you and reached out to me on Facebook. And I just wanted to call and introduce myself. How are you? I'm doing great. How are you doing? Good. I see, man, you've got a really high deductible and a pretty darn high premium and you're trying to protect your family and your finances with some health insurance. Yeah, so I can help you out a little bit. So we purposely chose that deductible as a high deductible plan because we knew that we were going to have some things. And even though the max out-of-pocket is high, it was still lower than what a standard plan was going to be through the employer. Now, I've left that employer. I'm about to go to another one. But right now it makes sense for me to stay on COBRA because I haven't found anything better at the moment. Okay. And so the marketplace doesn't work for us. MAP plans don't work. And we've done because there's just too many limitations on the ones that I've been presented with, at least. So and if there's something, a better option out there, then I'm open to looking for it. I just haven't found one yet. Well, absolutely. That's why you reached out and I understand. So what is your monthly payment on your COBRA? Like, is that over $1,200 a month or something like that? Yeah, it's actually $2,000 a month. Okay. Okay. And that's for the family. Yeah. And that still has the deductible at $5,000 to $7,000? Yeah. So it's a $5,000 individual, $10,000 family with $7,500 max out-of-pocket individual. And what is it? Actually, like $12,000, I think, on family. Okay. Max out-of-pocket. All right. Well, so you guys had good health, pretty much? Everybody healthy? Yeah. Yeah. Overall, we are. We don't really go to the doctors all that much. The one thing that we are still dealing with, my wife was in, and I were in a car accident in March of 24. And she has been going to a chiropractor three days a week. And so we are still dealing with that. She is going to see a neurosurgeon. And just to get a double take, we know that she has a couple herniated discs and one bulging disc. So we don't know. There might be surgery in the future there. We're not certain. Yeah. But have you guys been hospitalized for a long period of time? Was your accident something that you... Okay. How long was she in the hospital in 2020? No, she wasn't hospitalized at all. Okay. Okay. Gosh, man. I think I've got a plan. Are you self-employed, Max? So I have my own LLC. I don't have anything running through that right now. I have been made an offer of employment at a company that I'll probably take. But their plan doesn't really cover chiropractor care. And so I'm still be looking at staying on the COBRA right now. Yeah. Well, I think I've got good news for you. Okay. I've got a couple options for you. But the one that I think I can shoot over to you right now in an email, I'm going to shoot it over to you. I'm not saying this is the final, the only option I have for you. But this sounds to me like... And I'll just give you an example price-wise. And by the way, is this a bad time for you or are you okay to see the chat for a minute with you? I've got a couple more minutes. This will be fine. Okay. Okay. For you, for a family with only a 250 or 500 for the family deductible, you would be at $969 a month for a very nice large PPO network plan. And that's called LIFAC. I'm on that plan myself. I have two of my daughter-in-laws who are on that plan. And one of the reasons they're on it too is it's only going to cost about $500 to have a baby. Oh, wow. Nice. It's a really good plan. Yeah. But I could send this over to you just to be respectful of your time. And that's really what I was looking for was the history on the health. And then I have a survey link that I could send you that you and or your wife could fill out that would help me help you by putting all the proper plans in front of you that I think will work. But this one, I think is a real great solution for you as long as there's no cancer, heart attack, stroke, any diabetes going on with type 1, anything like that. This could be a real good huckleberry for you, I think, that you might want to stay on and provide you with chiropractic care as well. And we can couple some things with it. I would recommend for us that you being a dad of four kids, it'd be smart for us to put some dental plan in there for you as well as a catastrophic accident type of plan. Most of you guys know what that's like. You have a car accident that took you out for a little while. Right. We could do that and we still have you under your COBRA plan and you'd be so well protected. Okay. Yeah, definitely send that information over to me, please. One thing that I do look for as well. Just a second. I'm sorry. Give me just a moment here, sir. Yeah. I am still here. Okay. Sorry. Yeah, I was too. I put you on mute while I was calling them to the feeding lot, calling them downstairs for lunch. No problem. Stop. Get in your chair. You're a busy dad, man. You're a busy dad. Yeah. Okay. So, yes, sir. I'll look that over. One thing, I would love to see more of the plan details as well. And then just tell me, like, what type of plan is this that isn't coming through group and, you know, still can be affordable and still cover everything? Like, what are the limitations or differences between a Obamacare plan that I should be aware of? Yes, absolutely. Yep. I'm going to actually send you the actual full plan for you to look at, too. So, not just the literature on it, but you can actually look at the full plan and you'll find out that, in a nutshell, I'll just tell you this before we get off the phone. It is a large group plan for self-employed people and or W-2 employees. Okay. It's a group. The group that is formed is healthy people across the country. You're considered a healthy guy. Your wife, you, and your both are considered healthy compared to the average person that's out there. And we have so much data on unhealthy people, but very little data on healthy people. So, what they did was they created a health surveying company. They collect data. They'll send you six to eight surveys throughout the year. The first one is on the enrollment. You don't even have to do another survey if you don't want to ever. But if you do, they pay you for it. You get paid to do the surveys. And it's a real health awareness promotional type of group plan to where they, in turn, they also offer a health plan for those people that are in that group. And that's how they pull it off. And it's pretty impressive. It could be the right solution for you. Okay. I'm going to send this over to you guys to look at this, but keep in mind that I have, as a broker, I have a plethora of health plans. And I do have other things in mind. If you and your wife find something about this and you're like, huh, I don't know if I like this or that. So, look at it. I know you're busy, but look at it. We have a little bit of time before we have to issue it. I could have you enrolled in this as early as September 1st. Okay. Okay. And we'd have to get that done the end of the third week of August to make sure that we're enrolled for September. Yeah. There's no rush, but the sooner we get it enrolled... Yeah, but still... Yeah. Yeah. I'd rather understand what it is and be able to make a decision and not leave you on the hook or following up or anything else like that. Yeah. I'll take a look at it and I'll go through it. I'll ask you questions. I'm probably going to have them. Just fair warning. The surveys don't really matter. Is this a need a PHQ, which again, it doesn't matter, but for, say, cement underwriting or solidify underwriting or... Okay. So, that's the other thing I was going to tell you. There's 12 knockout questions that I will ask you guys. Okay. I already hit them basically with you. That's why I was asking about your health, but I actually am the field underwriter. I make the decision. So, it doesn't go to any other further underwriting besides me. So, that's why the survey is kind of important. If you fill the survey out, that's going to really help me know what to put in front of you so that we don't waste time here, waste your time, and also get you taken care of. Okay. The only thing, I have gout and so I take allopurinol on a daily basis, but beyond that, I don't have high blood pressure, cholesterol. I don't have diabetes or prediabetes or anything else of that nature. So, I can stand to lose 20 pounds, but beyond that, I'm a healthy guy. You're a busy bear, man. I raised four kids. It's not a big deal. So, I understand, and gout's not a knockout. So, I mean, I think this is going to work for you, but if it doesn't, I have a couple of other fantastic plans that I think will. Okay. The key thing that I, one last thing would be just, are you going to want a dental plan, dental vision in some capacity or no? I'm open to looking at it. I'm open to looking at it and comparing it to what I have currently. So, yeah, I'm open to looking at all of it. Okay. No, that sounds good. So, I will send you this plan first to start with, and then once I get your survey, I will be able to shoot you some other catastrophic and specified disease plans, such as, and dental, to put in front of you so you and your wife can see what that all looks like. Put your kids on it and all of you being protected. Okay. So, is this then a, well, you said it's a pooled plan. Is it like a MEWA plan or a MET plan? How are they doing this? Yeah. Well, they're doing it by doing a large group. That's one of the ways they're doing it, getting the price down. That's the secret sauce. And I should also let you know, probably, like I work with, or I'm in the PEO industry, and so we deal with MET plans, which predated MEWA plans, so they're multiple employer plans. And I deal with open market plans and all that fun jazz all the time. So, I'm familiar with lingo and having to explain it. Not familiar with everything that's out there, which is obviously why we're talking. So, I appreciate this, and that's probably some of the reasonings for my questions here. No, that's okay, man. And we also offer a group, like we're getting ready to write a 50 plus company here next week. So, we do offer group plans, and we do it a different way. But for families, to keep it affordable, for you to lower that premium and that frickin' deductible, that's a high deductible. And this max out of pocket on this plan is 92.50. And once you hit that for the year, let's say you're just busy. Kids are going and doing appointments, and all of a sudden you've got co-pay. It's just a co-pay plan. Then you go through and you're doing these co-pays, and if for some reason you get up to $9,200 of out of pocket money you've spent on the plan, then you have nothing else you have to pay except your premium. There's not even a co-pay. 92.50, is that on the individual or on the family? The family. Oh, okay. Yep. Yep. So, it's very little money out of pocket compared to what you're used to having to deal with with the marketplace or other plans that are out there. When you look at the aerial view, you're going to spend a lot less money on healthcare. You're going to get – the preventatives are free. All of the generic drugs are free. Telemedicine is free. There's a lot of wonderful things about it. Okay. Well, yeah, I look forward to looking it over and then making sure our doctors are in network and all of that fun stuff. So, I appreciate the call and look forward to reviewing it. Who are the doctors, real quick? Is there anybody that you can list off that I should look up for you? Or do you want to put that in the Q&A? You can if you want to, but honestly, I was just about to sit down to eat. I'll look it up. I'm good with that, but I need to get in here to my lunch. Hey, man, get some food in there. I'll talk to you later. Thanks a lot, Matt. My pleasure. Thank you, sir. You have a great rest of your day. Yep. Bye-bye. Bye-bye.
