The speaker is encouraging listeners to push themselves harder during their workouts. He acknowledges that they may already be training hard, but believes there is always another level to reach. He shares his personal experience of realizing he could have pushed himself further in past training sessions. He advises listeners to consistently strive to push their limits, even if it means entering a "pain cave." He recalls a conversation with someone about building mental resilience and the importance of understanding that training will be challenging. He emphasizes the need to be critical of one's efforts and to constantly seek improvement. He suggests recording sets and imagining someone watching to increase intensity. He urges listeners to be obsessed with making their training better and to go the extra mile. He assures them that there is always more to give and encourages them to push themselves to the point of exhaustion. He concludes by challenging them to send it more than ever be What is happening team? So welcome to another Extra Mile podcast in this short, sharp and quick injection of energy going forward for the rest of the day and for the rest of the week. So what I want to talk about this week guys is that you simply don't train hard enough and then before anyone gets their back up and goes I do train hard, I'm not saying that you just don't, that you're not pushing yourself right, but what I'm saying is you've always got another level to go through, okay? Like something I've noticed and I mean this for myself as well, that over the years I've always noticed and I've always reflected on like past weeks in training and I go fucking hell man, I could have pushed it so much more in that session and then it's just what that basically means is over time like you're just getting more efficient, you're becoming more optimal and you're looking after yourself that wee bit more. So what I want you to think about guys is like see week in, week out, always look to push that session that wee bit more, push the boundaries that wee bit more and learn to like go into that pain cave just that, that fucking more. It was like me and Mitchell were out of run and this is what kind of just instigated me to talk about this so I've just kind of been hankering about it, but me and Mitchell were out of run earlier on and we were just talking back and forth just about his time in the arm and neck and stuff and he was basically talking about a time that he had a resilience coach come in and the main point in the guy for building mental resilience was just go in and understand and it's going to be pretty shit, do you know what I mean? And that's the kind of thought process that I want you guys to have when you're kind of going into gym, like I get not every session is going to be fucking stinking, but the way I look at it guys when I'm going into training, I'm going into training, do you know what I mean? Like it's going to be fucking sore, it's going to be uncomfortable man, I'm going to be pulling some fucking mad faces and probably making mad noises as well, it's like if anyone has seen me in the gym, especially when I was doing my conditioning, you'll probably see that I was fucking rolling about the floor half the time, it was fucked and that's what I want you guys to really, really be learning to do man is to push that boundary and like it doesn't happen straight away guys, like it takes time to push yourself to that level because as I say like what you'll be doing now is you'll be pushing yourself to what you believe is your max, but it's not the max, just go that bit more and it's creating that mindset and that, yeah that mindset around it to go this is going to suck a wee bit, it's like I get obviously training, we're meant to be enjoying it and that kind of stuff and you will enjoy it, but again guys like if you go into your training, understand that it's going to be a bit shit, it's going to be a bit hairy, you're going to push yourself really to the max, like properly to the max, then yeah you might go through a bit of pain, but that feeling of accomplishment when you get the results you've always wanted will be worth it, do you know what I mean, and you just start to understand that you can take yourself further than ever before guys, it's like if I look back at my training last year to now, it's a different level and like my training last year was good, but obviously it could have been better and that's what I'm saying to you guys, like the now user will be in a spot where your training is, probably the best it's ever been, but it can always be better and I want you to really get in that headspace with it of going like right okay, what can I do to push this and like as we've always said, like the level of awareness you have, the level of questions you ask yourself dictates the level of your results, so see if you are sitting there going like how did I push myself, and you're like I've done alright now man, and you're constantly going I've done okay, did you probably have more to give, so I want you to be very very critical of it and go could I have pushed that that wee bit more, and a good wee tip for it guys to like get more out of you right, there's two ways to do this right, honestly record yourself doing your sets and I know me and George are harper on about this right, there's reasons why we want to see your sets because I want to see the intensity, I believe a lot of you are lifting well, I want to see the intensity right, but see if you record yourself doing your sets guys, you'll push more because you know like me and George are going to see it, it's as black and white as that like I've seen it happen before man, and then also what I want you to imagine is that there's a fly in the wall watching what you're doing, even if that flies me, do you know what I mean, imagine I'm in the wall watching what you're doing, would that prove how you're pushing your sets, or are you backing out too soon, and you'll know the answer to this as well guys, and then what I want you to kind of think about as well is see if you are one of these people that is pushing and constantly making your training a priority, constantly going beyond the boundaries of that, how can you be obsessed with making it better, how can you go to that next level, what needs done to make that happen, do you know what I mean, like what is it, like how antiquated are you with your training, are you looking at past sessions, like where do we act with it, because as I say guys, there's always more to give, and like I'll watch you, I'll look at your true coach and that kind of stuff and I'll go, bet there was more in that, bet there was more in that, and I want you to have that mentality within yourself going right okay, yeah I'm doing well, but I'm not content, I want more, I want to get more from myself, I want to get more out of the gym, I want to get more out of my training, push that extra kilometre, push that extra fucking rep, like go that wee bit further, go that extra mile with it, and really really really really look at sending it guys, and it was something that I think a lot of us can really really dial into man, because there's always more to give guys, like if you arguably are not leaving that gym, close to crying at some point, you ain't pushed it hard enough man, and like a lot of people will argue, but I'm going in to feel good, I get it right, yeah you're going in to feel good, but you will feel a lot fucking better if you accomplish the results you are after guys, so I want you to just kind of sit with that one, when you're going into your next session, going how much can I push this year, what can I push the boundaries with, and nobody take it as like, oh they think I'm not doing enough, because we'se are, we'se are doing good, we're doing great, isn't that the fact, but you can always do more, always have that mindset of going, how can I push this further, how can I push my body to it's limit, what can I go beyond, and like test it out guys, like test the water with it, you will be surprised with what you're capable of, trust me with this one guys, so what I want you to really really think about is, next time you're going into the gym, whether that be tonight, tomorrow, whatever it is, tomorrow morning, send it, send it more than you've ever fucking sent it before, and I guarantee you, Nancy Birendi will go, fuck, I am capable of more, I can push more than I actually thought, and see when you start doing that, you get ingrained with that thought process, going right, how can we push this, how can we push this, and always have it in your head guys, that it's going to be a bit shit, it's going to be a bit hairy, you're going to be a bit, you're going to be breathing heavy, your muscles are going to be sore, it's going to be times where you're like, ah fuck, this is a 10 second grip, because I just can't fucking push it anymore, that's good, we want to be seeing that happen, getting as close to failure as possible, but what you need to learn is actual failure, okay, go beyond the brink, failing the last rep, fucking you might need to drop the dumbbells, you might need to do whatever man, whatever has to happen man, but take that to that next boundary guys, so I want you thinking about that going forward man, yeah you're doing good, yeah your training's at a good point, let's make it fucking better, and you can push more.
