I say, Father, thank you for our salvation. Father, we just want to say thank you. Thank you for taking us up to your height. For us, you see, 26 of the month of July, Father, we are nothing. But Christ says, all we have got to say is Jesus. Thank you for our eyesight, thank you for our soul, thank you for you trying to close us to yourself, thank you for our commitment to our society, thank you for giving us showers of blessings. Father, we are so grateful that we can still say to our own, let's thank the rain, almighty God. We just want to say thank you. Most especially for this season, all of us God. For all this extreme weather, almighty God. He shows that you are in control. He shows that you are the almighty. He shows that you are God. There is nothing to compare with you. He shows that whatever you permit, God happens, O God. So tonight we surrender to God, almighty God. Even as we are coming to your presence tonight, O God, we say, Father, you minister to our soul. You will minister to our spirit. You will transform our life. Our restoration will be complete in the mighty name of Jesus. Even as we look up to you, Father, you will speak to us directly tonight, O God. We come against every form of destruction in any form. Father, we renounce and we rebuke Jesus' name. We suppress the insults he serves us, O God. And we elevate the spirit of God. We say that you let your spirit take over in the mighty name of Jesus. Help us to be one mind. Help us to be one focus. Teach us your word directly, O God. Make us your blessing to carry that Lord Jehovah, that emblem that you want us to carry in the name of Jesus. And at the end of each day, let your name be glorified. Thank you, Father, in Jesus' name. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Please, let's move forward. Let's move forward. God doesn't prepare a lesson for empty feet. Amen. We want to thank God for the rain. At least the rain is better than fire. Hallelujah. I saw somebody crying. All that she had had come. Here we are. In the rain we can still sleep in our homes. We can still go out. To God be all the glory. Hallelujah. We just want to say thank you to God. And we want to give God praise. That we are able to even gather at his feet. To even study his word. You know, it's when there is peace in the society, it's so easy for us to gather together. Amen. We want to say thank you to God for giving us peace. In the midst of all crisis, God is so faithful. Hallelujah. And you know, the Bible says, where two or three are gathered in my name, that's the Lord saying. There it will be. Two or three in his name. That is what God is looking out for. God is not a God of numbers. Hallelujah. He's a God of qualities. And I pray that tonight, the work which God has prepared, it will enrich our lives in the name of Jesus. Amen. Praise the Lord. Hallelujah. I just have to help Pastor to take the word tonight, because it's not available. It's that we plan to take that message on how to live godly in an ungodly society. Hallelujah. What a topic to treat. And it's even life lessons. Amen. I just, you know, thinking in my mind, seeing we have Saturdays that are coming together and Wednesdays. The Lord God has his thoughts for his children. Amen. And while I was just going through this, I just realized that indeed the thought of the Lord for every one of us is of good and not of evil to lead us to unexpected ends. There is unexpected ends for us, and we will all get there in the mighty name of Jesus. However, there are requirements for us to meet with him. Amen. We will get there in Jesus. So our topic tonight is how to live a godly life in an ungodly society. Hallelujah. To a layman, what does it mean to be godly? Hallelujah. What does it mean to be godly? And how do we know somebody is godly and somebody is not godly? Anybody? Anyone? You know there are some words we use regularly. Yes sir. By their fruits. Amen. It says the godly people possess the fruits of the Spirit. Do we all agree? Yes. Everyone that wants to be godly will need the fruits of the Spirit. And by their fruits, we will know them. Amen. Hallelujah. Any other contributions? Hallelujah. Any other contributions? Anyone? Okay. So, it says by their fruits, you shall know them. So the question is, what does it mean to be a godly person? Is a godly person by coming to church? No? Really? What? Okay. So, I am not using earrings, I tie my scarf, all these earrings act like I do. Does that make me really godly? It does not make me godly. So apparently, what men look at is not what godly people look at. Hallelujah. No wonder that book of Matthew 24 says there will be surprises in the last days. It says there will be surprises. That two will be grinding, one will be taking. May we make it in the end, in Jesus' name. May our coming to church not just be a service, you know, like they would say. May it be an indefinite purpose in Jesus' name. So is it possible for us to live godly? Is it possible to live godly in this broken, apartheid generation? In this society? By grace, it is possible. So the question is, why are godly people limited? Why are godly people limited? Amen. Amen. Many people don't like the truth. Amen. Many are called, few are chosen. Why are few chosen? Because they don't like the truth, like you said. Because they don't have the truth of the Spirit. Amen. So you all agree with me. The reason why, you know, I think there is a decline in Christianity, is because the godly are very limited. Amen. Among us. And that's what God is speaking of, this season. It could be this message could be just for only one person. It could even be for me myself, you know. And it might be for everyone as well. That's why we say we must move to this process. Most especially in this season, that we find ourselves, that we all agree, that it is very, very possible. In my notes, a Bible text for this, our Discussion Life message, is, the first one is, 1 Peter, chapter 2, verse 11 to 12. 1 Peter, chapter 2, verse 11 to 12. If anybody is there, you can just read. 1 Peter, chapter 2, we are reading from verse 11 to 12. And this is what the word of the Lord says. But yes, yes. Amen. Amen. That is Apostle Paul speaking, Peter speaking, saying, dear friends, I urge you as aliens, we are all aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires which war against our souls. These things that affect our godly lives, that we should live in such a way that, even when the enemy comes against us, I mean, that we see the works of God in our lives, that we have nothing to accuse us of. That the prince of this world came and found nothing in him. Praise the Lord. Let's read Matthew 5, 14 to 16, which is a popular one. Matthew 5, 14 to 16. And someone else opens 2 Timothy 3, and then we read 1 to 6. Matthew 5, 14 to 16, which is most common. We are the light of the world. Let only you that cannot be evil. Thank you. Amen, let's stop there. Hallelujah. So, basically, why God is teaching us how to live godly, is because we are the light of the world. Every child of God is a light, whether we believe it or not. The day you surrender to Christ, you are noted in heaven, and you are equally noted in hell. There is that contest over the life of every one of us. To make it to heaven, and the devil is equally fighting, because the day we give our life to Christ, the kingdom of darkness has been decreased, and the kingdom of God has been increased. Amen. My prayer today, our light to continue to shine, in the name of Jesus. So, for us to be a godly person, our light has to shine. Why? Because people must see. Amen. Like Matthew says, the fruit of the Spirit. Amen. You are not the one telling them that you have it. They are just seeing it in you. When we see a godly person, we say that we know them. They don't write it on their forehead, but you know, in a way we know them. Amen. Let's read this last one, so then I go through the discussion together, which is 2 Timothy 3. 2 Timothy 3. From verse 1, we talk about in an ungodly society, the wicked world, the perverse generation. So, 2 Timothy 3. Let's read from verse 1 of it. You may just hold this. Did you hear what she said? What version are you reading? The Living Bible, that in the last days, it will be difficult to be a Christian. Do we all agree? It's so difficult to be a Christian today. So difficult to be a Christian. Continue. Continue. Who do we find all around? Women. Teaching them silly doctrines. I wish there were more than this for us to encourage ourselves. In the last days, and we are in the last days, we are in the last days. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. In the last days, and we are in the last days, it will be difficult to be a Christian. But God wants us to be a Christian. Among our friends, among our family members, among our colleagues, God wants us to be a Christian. Even within the church, God wants us to be a Christian. Sadly, when you look at all that is in the social media, Christians are the ones complaining about Christians. Not unbelievers. Why? We know ourselves. We know ourselves. Christians are the ones. And let's look at this. Now we have so many. If you read it there, I tell you, so many false prophets coming in the name of the Lord. Why are we having them? They preach what they want to hear. Amen. Receive, I receive. Does not make a person godly. I was listening to a message, and a person said, how do you differentiate the truth from the lie? I said, what a question. So many answers given. And the conclusion is the truth. When you hear the truth, the truth is the conclusion of the matter. The truth gives solution. The truth gives answer. God is very faithful. God is very faithful. He said, the truth is the final testament. Hallelujah. A real Christian life is a godly life. Simple and direct. It is a surrendered life to God. To God's will. Amen. Do you know what God is doing these days? God is raising up His own, now He's using young pastors, youths that are fearless. They preach the word. They don't care how the people feel. The older one can just be. God is now using youths. He's the one converting them Himself. Revealing Himself to them. Amen. To raise the ensign soldier for Him now. Because the older ones, something has happened along the way. A godly life is a surrendered life to God's will. It is living a sacrificial life for the sake of entering the kingdom and bringing souls into the kingdom. It's only a godly person that can convert His soul without preaching to them. It's only a godly person that can speak and people listen. Because they know that what comes out of the mouth of that person is the truth. Amen. They listen. They want to hear them speak. But they are very few. They are very few. They are very few. He says the road is wide but the one that leads to heaven is so narrow. Because the people that we pass through, they are very few. They are very few. May the Lord count every one of us to be part of them. In Jesus' name. It is a life without regret of tomorrow. A godly life is a life without regret of tomorrow. There is no regret. Why? Because God channels your steps. There will be suffering. There will be persecution. But do you know what? Regardless of all those, you are still rejoicing in the hope that tomorrow will be alright. Amen. Being godly is not a title. Being godly is not a title. Amen. It is the way of life of somebody chosen by God. It is a life that makes us to smile at the storm. It is only a godly person that will see the storm and still be smiling. If not, if you come to church, something just happens. The first thing is, where is God in all of this? Where is God in all of this? Has God forsaken me? Where is God? Hallelujah. A godly life. Who talks about John the Baptist? When he was locked up, I was about to be beheaded. He sent his disciples to go and ask Jesus, are you the real Christ? Like a man of God minister. I'm in prison, they want to cut off my head. I've been doing the right thing. Are you the real Christ? He found himself in a situation he never expected. Hallelujah. It's good to be godly. Because the end of it is testimony, where comes with so many, the prize. The prize is expensive. It's like buying a solid leather bag. The money for one leather bag, you can use it to buy 20 counterfeits. But the counterfeit will never last long, as much as just that only one. Keep changing them. That only solid one will outlast. That's why shops that sell quality things, there's a shop in London, they only produce 30 pieces. 30 pieces of their shirts. 30 pieces. Only few can afford it, because the price of one can buy you so many. A godly life is a life of contentment. If I don't have contentment, I can never live a godly life. I will complain, and complain, the name complain will be tired of me. It's a life of contentment. It is a life of impact. Very impactful. Amen. A godly life. Together, can you just give me an example of godly heroes? Heroes in the Bible, that live a godly life. Let's look at them, and let's look at their challenges and their trials, so we can learn from them. We are doing the Bible study, we want to learn from them. Joseph. Joseph. What is it about Joseph, man? Went for two fast rides. Specialty. Thank you, man. Does that still happen today? It happens every day. You want a job? They ask you to do what ordinarily you wouldn't want to do. And when you say no, they can deprive you. Is it happening today? You want to be promoted? Is it happening today? Sleep with me, you will get it. Amen. When you are godly, the devil knows what you lack. When your test will come, he will come in the area of where your lack is. Because he knows that you will fall flat on your face. Easily. Easily. Being godly is the work of grace for all of us. What did Joseph say, man? He said something. How would I commit such a sin against God? Not against forty fast rides. Why? Because he is not forty fast rides. He is a spirit that has entered into her in order to derail Joseph. Amen. Joseph. And look at the end of his life. He went to prison for a sin he never committed. The woman told a lie. You want... They will lie against you. The whole world will believe. He went to prison. But the Bible says, in that Genesis 39, God was with him. It says they meant it for evil, but God meant it for good. Amen. He turned it around for good. And what happened? He became a prime minister in a foreign land. He became a prime minister. He suffered that rejection thrown him to prison for the end. Listen to me, everybody. I just highlighted this and the Spirit really said it to me. God means lies. Takes a man to a height in mis-expecting he can get. Because there will be somebody that will mention your name somewhere which you mis-expected when we need God with. Amen. Because the whole world is surrounded by that cloud of witnesses. And we are in an ungodly society where so many things are happening. And now that you wrote the Bible, quickly. Daniel. What is it about Daniel, man? Why? For what? What was his offense? Because he refused to bow down. He refused to bow down. That's it. Daniel was a real child of God. The Bible says, 120 administrators were chosen. Only Daniel was found to be what? Faithful. Only one. What does that tell me? He's godly. And because of that, when you are godly, people will set you up. Godly people are set up. You may not even know all about them. But godly people, the way people will rally around. What was his offense? It's because we read it in the Bible. He will not steal. He will not lie. He will not cheat. They set him up. They will always look for your area of weakness. And the weakness of Daniel was not even a negative one. His weakness is, he cannot just stop praying to his God. We have to make a decree that we stop him from praying to his God. There are some of us, the test of time we are going through, it's because of what is ahead of us. Amen. The king made a decree. He didn't argue. He went back. He opened the window. Ah, king, I can't stop praying. It's too late. The Bible says three times. It's like the Muslims saying Allahu Akbar. He was not shouting, Jesus, Jesus. They heard. They reported. And what happened? They turned things into lions' den. The lion of the world cannot destroy the Godly person. I did a little bit of psychology of religion. When you go to this abbey, I remember when they took all the students, they always have the educated ones they work with. They recognize you before they can do evil. To anyone, they will ask, what is the wrong that person has done? The honest ones, when they find nothing, they will be able to... They will even say to the person, you go ahead, you will be the one to suffer for it later. And that was what happened. Daniel was thrown into that fire. The fire could not... I mean, the lions could not help him. Why? The lions of the world even recognizes a Godly person. Because you can't blame yourself out. His blood could not even smell to their nose ring. But the ones that threw him inside were the ones that were eaten by them. He refused to compromise his faith. Some of our challenges is compromise. I don't want people to be offended. I don't want people to hate me. I don't want people to dislike me. And you know that this thing is not right. Who cares? That is the level God is taking us to. The compromise you refuse to compromise to do, they are coming back to beg you. The Bible says in the book of Daniel 6, go and read it, the king said, what? Only God, of whom? Daniel, must be served. People can't follow us to church to serve our God until they know what we stand for. There are so many churches, but we don't stand for anything. We don't stand for anything. And this is Bada Milola, you are talking about the three Hebrew boys. What is their own? And it became an offense. Every step of a godly person is an offense to the ungodly. Is an offense to the ungodly. Every step. They said to the king, you need not answer you in this matter. Godly people don't give reasons. They are not people of excuses. They can't just be bothered. They can't answer you in this matter. And the fire could not, because God was already waiting for them in the fire. Remain. God stood with them all through. For the godly, to live godly, God is standing with you all the way through. Who again? We talked about Joseph, we talked about Daniel, and the three Hebrew boys. Who again is the guy who lives a godly life? Stephen. Yeah, what? Stephen. What is Stephen's offense? He was thrown to death. In the case of Stephen, he was thrown to death. But he saw heaven open. Because godly people must not be angry. And he was thrown to death, by the wicked people. Amen. But you know what? He converted the one that did most of the ritual work. He prayed. He prayed the prayer. The Bible says, the people they were stoning him. A man stood, and they were putting all their garments at his feet. Giving them command, continue to kill him. But he was praying, God forgive them. But they don't know what they are doing. And God answered that prayer. And converted the one, that went to the uttermost part of the world, to convert. And that is Apostle Paul. That is the reward of his own death. He gave birth, to the remembered. A godly person cannot die in vain. Is there another godly person in the Bible that we can think of? So many of them. At the back. Job. Yes, Job. He is a good part of them. He was so righteous and blameless. Is that not what the Bible says? The innocent man doing his job. His work. And the devil said, it is because they are blessing him. Take away the blessing. There are times, the God of favor is shot against us, in order to set us. He is not permanently shot. He is just temporarily withdrawn, to know our reaction. The innocent man, that God says is blameless. He lost all he had, because of godliness. But he earned well. Even his friends left him. When you are godly, and any small challenge comes to you, your friends will say, maybe you have done something secret, that nobody knows about. They won't even want to relate. They will even be, you may not confess, they will pick the phone, they will talk. Those are the prize, we are going to pay, for being godly. So in our society, we are just few of them. I don't know them, to be honest. Only God knows, those that are godly. The Bible says, in that joke of his, the latter end of joke, was greater than his beginning. Anyone that stands the test of time, will always have a glorious ending. Because the journey of life, is no more of how well we start, it's how well we finish. It's how well we finish. You will see some people, even at dance, the kind of celebration that is happening. And you will see some people, with all the good they have done, at dance. It's just like, what is happening? What is happening? Why are the children like this? So many of them in the Bible, I have Noah, was blameless. They were even laughing at him, in his days. Jesus referred to him, in Matthew 24, the coming of the Lord will be like when the rain, the flood started in the days of Noah. People were laughing at him. Most times, we mock people, that are godly. We mock them. What mock them? You own so much. You are losing out. Your mates are there. See where you are. They are carrying the Bible. I just said they are carrying the Bible. Can I make you laugh? Once in Africa, can you imagine? I was relocating. I said to them, I have to be with my husband, to do the work of the Jews. Out of all the gifts they can give, they bought me this Bible, Roman of faith. They signed it, and everything. I said, ah, money I didn't expect. Money is not common. Come and see Christian books. Who moved my cheese? Come and see Christian books. The greater eye. This one, this one. I looked at myself. I said, ah, ah. He opened it. If you see the first page, they signed. Promises of this book will be fulfilled in your life. This will be this. Those promises I knew every morning. All this will be well with you. Come and see it signed. And that has been the book I have been using to minister since. I was giving. My colleague, he got money. But my life is not as sacred as my life. I took the Bible. When it's overwhelming, I go back to this. That's it. Roman of faith. I said, man, look I have words for you. Roman of faith. It gets to me. I said, Mr. Additional, go and read it. Listen. People know who you are. Not that they don't have the money. I'm talking about people that are ruling Nigeria. Because I was the one, I was teaching their children international school. I was giving this. And then I brought out the abundance I had. Giving it as is to them. So they can remember. I wouldn't say I'm godless. I'm just revealing that people know who you are. Noah was saved in the flood when others perished. What about Elijah? Eh? What did he suffer? He was a countryman. He was a countryman. What did he suffer? What was his own... What was his offense? Yes, he said to God he was tired. Something led to that. It was that woman, Jessica. What did she do to Jessica? She executed the priest of fire. She didn't do anything. She is their queen. She killed all the priests. That was a sin. Before her. What did he suffer? Loneliness. That's what I'm looking for. Most times, godly people feel lonely in Jessica. But God is with them. Because godly people hardly have friends. People keep secrets from them. People don't want to befriend them. People run away from them. Because they can see... A godly person can see through them. That was happened to Elijah who was lonely. That gave him mental health. God looked for man to help him. But at that time, he had to send the raven to see him. Because the people around at that time they rejected him. There is good news for somebody. No matter how man rejects you, God cannot. As long as you key in into his will, his plan and his purpose for your life. Look at his ending. He did not suffer physical death. He was so only to the level that God says, this world will not die physically. We must have heavenly party to welcome him. Look at the entering. Horses, chariots, he rode on it to heaven. Eh? He did not die physically. He rode on it to heaven. What a celebration! Amen. My Lord Jesus Christ, what is his offence? Breaking the truth. Up till today, the world does not want to hear his name. Because the name Jesus will get into trouble. Amen. They try to put the name down by making jokes, different kinds of jokes. Yet, the name is so very powerful. He was beaten. God's little people, that's what they go through. God wants us to beat, to make them suffer. Yet, those that were stoning him, those that were lying against him, they knew that he has done nothing. I just find yourself joining group of people, cutting down others. And you know within you, ha, when you knew, they should know. This person has not offended you. But because I want to belong to the group of those people, I want to belong at all cost. They let loose. The Bible says, they were crucifying the king of Mary, but they did not know. I know Jesus Christ. What was his reward from God? God now gave him a name. Godly people always have a name that can never be forgotten. Your name can never be forgotten. Your name can never be forgotten. Godly people have names that can never be forgotten. Wonderful names. Can the story of Joseph be forgotten? No. Can Noah be forgotten? No. Can Job be forgotten? No. Can Daniel and the three blue boys be forgotten? No. Can Elijah be forgotten? The man that sealed heaven. A godly person can make a decree and heaven will stand still. And that is the level God wants the church to be. That is just the level God wants the church to be. A level of making a decree. Your enemy is coming. Like Elijah. God has given revelation ahead. He arrested those that wanted to arrest him. That is what God can do to a godly person. Amen. Apostle Paul, he was godly when he got converted. I call him the son, I call him the offspring, the son, you know, the product of salvation. We are sinning all to our God that he was cautious. He was the one that orchestrated the killing. God said now you go. And he suffered shipwreck. He was in prison. He sustained. He sustained to the end. He went to Asia. He converted Asia. Turkey used to be a Christian country. He converted Turkey. Asia that you see, Asia used to be for God. He converted them. But there is no follow up. You and me, me that I am even talking, listening, watching TV, listening, in fact, the day that the sleep is so sound, to even wake up to pray is wahala. That's just the honest. Don't be afraid of them. God will always be with us. He said surely they will gather but not of him. Every gathering that is not of him, he said what? He will scatter them. Let them talk. They know that you are mine in the book of John. You will be hated. Your elders will hate you, your friends will hate you, your brothers will hate you. Why? Because what they are doing, they are not comfortable doing it where you are. You will suffer battle of the tongue. Battle of the tongue. Another battle of the tongue was lies. Lies. Nobody will go against you if they say good things about you. Lies. Temptation will come. Temptation will come. I know what to do. I know a better way to do it. When people know that you are God. Everything they are doing is behind you. They can't confront you. Because when they do they know they are lying. Because even within them. Look at the We know that you are sent from God but we are afraid of them. We follow you from a distance. We follow you from a distance. There is honor. You be a person of influence. You have joy. Now how can we live a Godly life? We have heard it in the last days that lovely Bible verse. It will be difficult to be a Christian. And God is saying be a Christian. How can we live that Godly life? To be a Christian. And look at me. I promise you. With this challenge that surrounds me. No work, no food, no health, no children, no marriage. And you are still telling me to remain Godly. In all of these things God is still saying in an ungodly society where people will give so many counsels. Advice is true. Counsels is true. But the only one that gives you the solution is God. Jesus.
