The speaker discusses how climate change is impacting the Grand River and emphasizes the importance of community engagement. They note that more people are realizing climate change affects their local area, not just distant places. The speaker highlights the increasing awareness of climate change due to extreme weather changes, such as hotter summers and unpredictable snowfall in recent years. How long have you seen climate change affect the Grand River already? Yeah. Oh. We might have reached the Grand River. Yep. This one can be pretty quick, but. I think also, I guess, I like to focus a lot on community engagement. I think more people are waking up to the fact that climate change does not have to be something that's across the globe. I think for a master's degree, like, the concept of, you know, do something far away not affecting our home country. I think people are realizing that it is so tough. When it is affecting, you know, the amount of hot days we see in the summer, like I said, it reaches the station. What it's doing is, like, we start wishing that, you know, when these are, when they're out here, I think they're the ones that are really on the front lines of what climate Yeah. I think it's becoming more apparent. I've noticed people are really waking up to it with the drastic changes in weather we've had recently. Like, I can't remember when I was, like, really tiny days that were as hot as we've had recently in the summer. And some of the winter days, too, we'll have a year where we get zero snow, and then we'll have another year where we get so much snow. And it just changes every time.
