Whitecroft Hall, the newest and largest ale hall in Leeds, is thriving after its first month open. Good morning, it's 11.30, I'm Matthew Caines and this is Leeds Hacks Radio News. Three people have been injured in a suspected assault attack at a school in West London. A 14-year-old girl sustained potentially life-threatening injuries while a teenage boy and a member of staff were also hurt and taken hostile. Investigations on the substance are ongoing, but the police believe it is acidic. Leeds Civic Trust have unveiled a blue plaque commemorating the 88th anniversary of the Battle of Holbeck Moor. The battle was a counter-protest by 30,000 Leeds residents to stop the far-right leader, Sir Oswald Mosley, from holding a rally in the city. The plaque honours the 30,000 counter-protesters who stopped the rally. Martin Hamilton from the Leeds Civic Trust said we can learn from the actions of the counter-protesters. Because this was about fighting racism all those years ago, but you know, racism is always there and I think we can learn from the past. Black History Month has started a local business hostess corner from organising guided walks through Leeds. Launched in 2009 by founder Jo Williams, the interactive walk is to showcase the historic African presence in Yorkshire. The walk will commence at 12pm Wednesday on 2nd October at Wellington Place. The NHS have published a survey announcing that one in eight children between the ages of 2 and 10 years old are obese. It has been seen that the rates of obesity are the highest among adults and children that live in private areas across the UK. Typically the NHS are spending around £6.5 billion a year treating obesity-related illnesses. The Office for Statistics has shown that in the last five years more than 8,000 farms have been lost due to bad weather conditions. The wet winter has made for appalling harvests this year which has left many farmers nearing the breaking point due to financial strain. With the winter fastly approaching, farmers across Yorkshire are having to choose between profit and passion. Springboard Market is back for you and your family with various different items to purchase in the heart of Henley just in time for the winter. Farmers across West Yorkshire come together to show off their skills and express themselves. From artwork to purses, Springboard has it all. I sell machine stones, tote bags, scrunchies and purses and I also do artwork that you can put on products. The newest and largest ale hall in Leeds is going strong after its first month open. Whitecroft Hall is enjoying plenty of popularity despite increasing pressure on the hospitality trade. Located behind the Corn Exchange and boasting separate food vendors, two bars and a vast range of drinks, Whitecroft Hall might be the next big thing. To me the most important thing is the products and show, like what you're actually giving to people. There's a lot of hospitality in Leeds out there, very successful ones that sell a lot of stuff that I'm not very good at and I've got a real passion for selling stuff that's really good. It's 33 minutes past 11, more news in half an hour.
