Good afternoon, it's 12 o'clock, I'm Saffron Carroll and this is Leeds Hacks Radio News. Three people have been injured in a suspected acid attack at a school in West London. A 14 year old girl has sustained potentially life-changing injuries, while a teenage boy and a member of staff were also hurt and taken to hospital. Tests on the substance are ongoing, but police believe it is acidic. NHS England are campaigning to get winter strong to remind those at risk to get vaccinated. This follows after 18,000 flu-related deaths were recorded over the past two years. Director of Primary Care for the North Eastern Yorkshire Region, Annabel Johnson, campaigns. If you are aged 65 or over, you've got a long-term health condition, you're pregnant, live in a care home, you're a carer, or you live with someone who's got a weakened immune system, please, please, please get that checked. It's offered on the NHS every year in autumn and early winter. A recent report has found that Yorkshire has the worst bank access in the country. Nine constituencies in Yorkshire are without a single banking branch, meaning more people are having to switch to online banking. Members of the older, wiser local seniors group in Heddingley share their thoughts on online banking. Everything now, you should be talking to a computer and you're getting nowhere. It's convenient, even when it's worse. I can still go into banking in the flat and tidy up. In the UK, it is estimated that around one in every five children aged 10 to 11 are living with obesity, according to the NHS. Evidence shows that a contributing factor is the advertising of junk food. However, mayors across nine counties, including West Yorkshire, have pledged to ban junk food marketing across their areas. West Yorkshire Mayor Tracey Brabin said, As we take greater control of our public transport network in West Yorkshire, we must continue this good work, promoting a healthy, active lifestyle by taking a sensible approach to the advertising of junk food. Revive Reuse, a company dedicated to reselling pre-loved items for affordable prices, have now opened a new outlet in Hunslet, making it the third Revive store in Leeds. This expansion comes after the people of Hunslet requested a Reuse store in the area. Green Party member Ed Carlyle hopes that sustainability initiatives like Revive will become a country-wide trend. I strongly believe the Revive model should be something that's happening across the country. For some reason it's not. This is such an obvious model. It makes money for communities, it makes money for charities, it makes money for councils and it kind of reduces waste. It's National Green Cities Day and Leeds City Council have put together a list of objectives to become more sustainable. Their main target is to tackle waste by reducing, redistributing and utilising surplus food. They also aim to raise awareness of how the people of Leeds can eat nutritious foods that are good for the planet. Sunday night saw the chaotic debut performance of Clabber, a ten-piece band just signed to Leeds' new indie label Turncoat Records. The Hyde Park book club snog was filled to the brim with hopeful punters awaiting Clabber, who currently have no internet presence. Fakie is the brand's lead vocalist. If you walked into a venue and you just saw ten people on stage, you'd just immediately think, like, what is happening? Especially to this kind of music, because the only time that you see such a large amount of people is to, like, quite traditionally practiced music, like classical music. Yorkshire County Cricket Club say they are confident they can make an impact on their return to Division One of the Vitality County Championship. The club boasted the highest number of batting and bowling bonus points in the country, as well as a convincing win over Division Two champions Sussex. With Division One cricket on the horizon, commentator Jonathan Boyd gave his predictions for next season. Their promotion was secured late on day three in their clash with Northamptonshire, with a third batting bonus point ensuring a second-place finish and a five-game unbeaten season to the finish... to the season, sorry. It's four minutes past twelve, more news in half an hour. Goodbye.
