This workshop focuses on the importance of literacy skills in empowering individuals living in poverty and equips social workers with tools to assist their clients. Poverty is one of the leading social issues and a common topic that social workers work through with their clients. Not having proper literacy skills can impact work and education opportunities, which can make it hard to escape poverty. The purpose of this workshop is to learn about how proper literacy skills can help those living in poverty, and also discuss literacy tools social workers can use to help their clients.
