Studies have found that there are approximately 50 billion pieces of trash in the U.S., with 6 billion being over six inches in size. This means there are about 162 pieces of litter per person. Keep America Beautiful, a non-profit organization, is working to combat littering, as over 90% of Americans see it as a problem. Litter not only affects curb appeal but also harms ecosystems, water supply, and wildlife. Although littering numbers are decreasing, it's important for everyone to take action.
