Yo, what is up everybody welcome to episode 10 kind of our you know grand finale of season 1 It's been a long ride 10 long episodes, but you know we made it We're here, and we'll get into more of that as we introduce ourselves and with that my name is Joby My name is Adam and for the final time of this season. I am Jay and welcome to the podcast guys. Yeah Yeah, I'm freaking hyped This episode we're gonna have some people coming on talking with us You know usually we have some guests who have been involved in music who have actually made music and this time It's going to be you guys our listeners You know the guys and the girls who give us you know recognition and talk to us and let us know what's going on What should we what we should be doing and what we should be talking about? I know it's just a good chance to say thank you to you guys, so yeah Yeah, before we get started. How you guys feeling about having some guests on for today. I'm pretty excited For me, it's more like a You know giving back to the people who have been there for us since the beginning you know especially with Especially with the fact that you know we're We're not very big on like you know wanting to be like popular blow up or anything you know we're more of like a you know this is just a chill thing between us as friends and You know the fact that we're gaining listeners and we have a little community going on and these people are actually responding to us on Instagram and Seeing us in person and giving us music recommendations and stuff like that. It's awesome So anyway, this is giving back And I will say later on in the future if you'd like to be a part of an episode Just shoot us a text. I mean if you want to do it do it. You know I Agree I mean we're always open to hanging out with you guys I mean we can we've been hanging out with you guys for the past 10 episodes It's been a ride, you know these 10 episodes have gone by fast. We've been doing this since what? January now and we're already in May so this shit just I don't have time flew with us doing this podcast And I also feel like I grew up a lot doing this I'm a little extra responsibility to do and it's it's fun like Jay said it's just a good chance to hang out with the guys and Yeah, it's just it's fun man like I'm just happy I got a chance to talk with you guys while I was over here And it made every week a lot better But I'm excited for today just because I'm I feel like it's been a while since people did Sorry, that caught me off guard. I was trying to keep up with the chat. You guys are silly. You guys know that No, I'm excited I mean there's a lot of people keeping up with us since the beginning and we're about four months in now So it's a long time to be sticking with us. I mean 10 episodes have flew by I mean we've been having a lot of fun Excuse to talk to each other and hang out. So it's been a lot of fun I'm really excited for today just to be able to hang out with those people who have been Listening to us and keeping up with us just give him a chance to kind of honor him and let them hang out and get that opportunity to See what we feel. I mean, this is a weird thing to be in a podcast Just talking to people and not knowing who's listening. So I'm sure it's really exciting for other people to get the opportunity But um, yeah, I think that's enough to get into it. No offense because But like as a listener Like listening to episode one and then listening to like the last episode of like So much has changed and like you can you can really just tell the difference, you know, like so it's pretty cool You know to be one of the big ones. Yeah, I'm excited to have you on I mean, we've been talking about music a lot more lately. I mean, especially since we started the podcast, but I mean, we've been like sharing music every now and then you would send me suggestions and You would start like the jams we would listen to music while we're playing all that and you had to kind of make a You'd make motion at Tommy. Hey, I got like this long So I always appreciated it like you would make sure to let me know that you like the stuff I'm listening to so I was appreciated that Yeah Well, I mean kind of like I said earlier, um, I It started with the jams like you said And I was like, hey this song. Here's this song like oh, I like this one. This one might be this time or whatever and then There was time for like But like I suggested to talk to Adam. I was like, man, I really like this song and then it blew up on tick-tock And it's like the dead dog song so called Sunday, I'll get it and It's kind of like yeah, it's my guilty pleasure. Yes, I listen to it, but I'm like damn it's just a tick-tock song now so I mean It's been fun like this Even before you know talking to music with talking about music with you guys and the and the beefs recently That's that's real. But hopefully we get into that. Oh, yes, you're saying that song I mean, I forgot was called buddy. It's like the dead dog song on tick-tock. I have it in my playlist right now And I I don't know I listen to it Even when I'm not sad and I think I do that more than I should like you said, it's like a guilty pleasure But I find myself listening to it way too much and why my wife will be like Good. I'm like, yeah, I'm fine. It's just Good song, you know, and I think that's the cool thing with sad songs It's like you don't necessarily have to be sad to listen to him. It's just good music in my opinion, you know Yeah Yeah, like I was saying earlier you you've been a supporters in the day one And you know, we're gonna be heading into a pretty big Change, you know season two that we got going on and stuff like that I wanted to ask you since you're you know, just an avid listener to us What do you want to hear more from us? You know, this is kind of a chance for us to hear What listeners want from us and what do you want to hear more from us as in like music or anything that we could? You know possibly talk about in the future Um well as far as like covering different genres of music I Think you guys are doing pretty well at that. You know, you're like a big avid country listener I've never been a country listener. So you have to educate me a bunch of like country shit because I It's weird. I just I don't know. I can't listen to it. I there's a few songs I know I can get into I got Thomas Rhett and a few others like Luke Bryan and stuff like that and The rascal flats, but there's some other stuff. I'm just so uneducated in the area I just I don't know I'm gonna I'm gonna need your expertise in it Yeah, I mean those are all good artists and bands that he's listed but my personal favorites like I mean everybody likes Morgan Wallen, but everybody hates on Morgan Wallen is like the I'm gonna say it. He's like the Drake of country you know, he's 11 where you hate him and and I personally like him. I think he's bringing a new little vibe to country He's adding like the Like a trap snare to the to the country songs and then he has a song with a little dirt I believe and he's starting to do musical post Post Malone so he's really like I would say changing the game for country from for newer country, but like the the artists that I listen to the most and just because I feel like like I like the way his voice sounds and you listen to the lyrics and Everything is Tyler Childers. You've probably heard one of his songs called all your on tick-tock It was pretty viral they would just speed it up so it was like a little high-pitched and then like, you know How they do with the tick-tock tick-tock sound But there was some controversy with controversy with him as well Not like great controversy where he likes minors Oh Man I gotta go back and look at the name of it. I know it. I just can't do it right now But it's about some coal miners or like it's just a love song and He made a music video for it What's funny was when people first heard the song I'm like, oh my god, it's so beautiful like such a great love song I'm playing on my wedding this and that and the video comes out and it's about two gay coal miners and everybody's like I hate Tyler Childers like dare he like Gay people would have a lot of country and I was like, dude Music for everybody, you know, you can't sit here and say okay like another thing to with country is like Beyonce's Little thing, you know, I'm not a fan of it. It's what? It's a little catchy not gonna lie but like there was some comments and people like oh like he doesn't belong in country and they were like Oh cuz she's black like and I was like dude No, don't say that because there are some good country artists that are black and actually there's just one song that just came out recently It's on tick-tock too, but it's the black dude that seemed it's oh man It's like the most fucking fun country song I've listened to and So that's the hardest part with being a country fan is that people either think like You're a racist or you don't like good country You know, but I would say you know for Everybody who's listening to this and you guys like if you want to listen to country that I mean that I like personally Like I really wanted to see Tyler Childers in April, but I couldn't I couldn't make it Just listening give him a listen I mean he has some some love songs some sad songs some songs that are like Hi your fucking work boots and get your ass to work cuz you got money to make you know Like yeah the song especially the song called nose on the grindstone that's a good song my dad recommended it to me a while back and And put it on and it was just I was like, okay, I guess I'll go to work Motivation yeah, I was like, all right all right, and then he had like some party ones like not party party, but like one called White House Road Way of the Triune God it just sounds like party but you listen lyrics You Take the lyrics how you want to take it, but and so yeah, just give him a listen. He's great Morgan Wallin, you can listen to You know this time this time Luke Combs He has is another song that's real sad about his brother Man, I can't think of these damn songs I know the name Energy is a credible source. He's done with some like country suggestions to any country for a billion The actually do you think you think your mom will listen to this Adam? Careful we're good Kind of like reminds me of her it's called a follow you to version So Follow you to Virgie and oh, but basically like so the guy Tyler Tiller's wrote it about his friends grandma's She passed away, but I Would just say this Because I mean this is how I feel, you know, like but your mom Adam is like the mother of the friend group, you know Like no kind of there, you know for everybody like I facetimed you guys the other night every party and you know I was like, oh, you know, we're mother like everybody called her mom mother, you know I see this very motherly and like it's always just so supportive, you know, and So that song kind of reminded me of her because I'm he's like Steve in the song he's like she was sitting in the court in the corner singing along to all our crazy dreams and It's just like You know, like this super supportive always there, you know Just motherly She would like that I would say like kind of reminds me of her But yeah, can we talk about these beefs going on right now I got some words for Joey here Yeah Before we let you go Diego, I want to thank you dude for coming on and always entertaining us and having fun with the zoom that's the main thing dude, like always Giving us pointers and what to talk about like you said and supporting us since day one. I do paint and Graphite mostly she's better than I've done some pretty cool pretty cool pretty cool Projects before I'm like about to have my art put up in an art show tomorrow at my school Oh My gosh, my SATs are on Saturday And I'm scared but it's okay. Yeah, that's Kind of what I've been up to really but what have you been listening to lately? You know, it's what's your favorite song is it right now like your favorite artists and stuff like that? Favorite song I don't really know but in terms of music taste my music ranges from like Pop rock to like kind of like what you would classify or what someone classifies like divorced dad music, you know Definitely like dad rock or you know, some people even say like man manipulated music. Oh, but Main artists right now. I want to say my top artists are Jeff Buckley radiohead and Hmm right now I'm kind of getting into home Which that sounds crazy, but court. I want to say hold on this sounds bad of me Guys, I did this out. It makes me feel like a fake fan. Oh Yeah, I'm Courtney love I was right Yeah, also the cranberries too But those are like my main artists, but I like to have other stuff in there like modern baseball some Paramore in BG's like those kind of things In my favorite song honestly, hmm Probably all the things she said by simple minds right now Strangely, I like got into like the 80s music. So That's a good topic. I mean 80s minutes good music know that sounds like you like Oh Yeah, for sure. Yeah, I kind of went through high school Like I had that huge era of just like older music anything before the 90s I was just kind of stuck on that for a good maybe year Like just kind of a nostalgic feeling it brings is always so nice Yeah, oh my gosh one thing that like I wish more people knew like there's a big group that knows about it But like at the school that I'm going to like it's not that popular But like R&B music from the 90s like in hip-hop like I don't know why that's not a big thing like to where I'm at right now, but like All I play. I mean I Imagine that like if I listed like a song off the top of my head and you guys would probably know it But like yeah, I feel like it's a bigger deal now that like I could talk about like You know Just like any artist and someone would be like what like That's not okay. That's interesting. I'd expect them like majority people to know like 90s R&B and stuff like that like Wow, I like usher Chris Brown like majority of those guys Yeah, when I was over at SF State you mentioned those guys everybody knows who you're talking about. I just find that odd that Now like that 90s R&B and that rap. It's usually very like widely known. That's that's interesting though. That's crazy Yeah, everyone here Should I say like where I'm at is that safe? I live in slow or San Luis Obispo, California, and so it's a very different I Don't want to say like anything bad, but like, you know very different type of people here and so like they grew up more with like You know rock like old rock like Eagles. Oh, I guess we're just like we're just fine you know because I'm getting into my music to you know, but They like grew up with it. And so like it was very it's a very different lifestyle I feel and how they grew up out of curiosity Do you think you've influenced J's listening at all or like vice versa like he's influenced your music at all lately? Lately, okay when I was younger both him and my dad have Or like influenced my music tastes a lot more so than like anyone else because it was like again It was like old R&B stuff Usher, you know Whatever yeah, like it was that's how it means like I like grew up on that but as of lately I kind of grew in to my own thing and then Jaden found my playlist and It's not a bad thing either. I literally feel like I'm You know, I'm not gonna toot my own horn here I have like to me obviously I have like I want to say I have a pretty good music taste. Yeah And so like for him to like, you know, I see you guys posting on your insta For this podcast and sometimes his like song of the day will be like songs that I recently added and I just kind of pick up on the fact that maybe you know, he's listening to it more but I feel like sometimes Sometimes now like he'll show me some songs and granted I won't add them to my playlist But I know what's like good music and what? I Know like I can I can recognize good music like, you know I love the people that say I can listen to anything because like I get that, you know Like I can't listen to everything because I have such strong music opinions but I Really respect those people and like when I hear good music no matter the genre I can understand that it is a good song It has a good B or a good flow or just you know everything to generate it It's it, you know, you could tell that it's a good piece of work for the genre that it is Yeah, sounds like you listen very freely Yeah, I kind of like go traveling all over the place with music to be honest. I live, you know I'm by myself most of the time so So much to do Traveling cutscene Yeah, literally It's fun though. I think adela you're the word the way the way you listen to music like you Like you're you're not You're not a music like listener. It's like you understand the music in a way which is something that like the reason why I'm trying to like Dive deeper into your stuff and like the stuff that you show me and all that because i'm like, okay, maybe there's some like Sentimental meaning to some of these songs and some of the songs that are on the playlist Are like deep and like there's some deep cups. There's some deep cut shit, you know, like inside of it. And so it's like like Like I was telling I was telling jovi and adam earlier about like the whole um because we were talking about uh, tyler the creator and how he was on a podcast saying that um, that Music is a form of art and every artist has their own type of art to distribute to people And so I think that's how you listen to music Which is what I respect and that's what i'm trying to dive deeper more into rather than having An opinion is i'm trying to be more open-eared when it comes to that kind of stuff. Yeah, that's like Yeah, that's that's pretty much what I do when it comes to music A lot of what I listen to is like you said like it has meaning behind it But also at the same time like I can kind of know whether i'll like a song within like the first Like minute or the first 30 seconds just based off how it sounds which is you know A lot of people might like disagree and be like no you should You should be more open. You should listen to the lyrics. You should listen to like actually pick out what you like maybe you'll like switch music genres, but for me, it's not really about that and I also don't want to like stay in one bubble for the rest of my life, but like you know get as I got older I like started to like appreciate the lyricism in pop culture versus Like the sound I guess I don't know if i'm saying that right. I mean, there's some songs that like In pop culture that will come out and be like, oh my gosh, that's so good like You know, a lot of people didn't like it but espresso by sabrina carpenter like Maybe the lyrics weren't like no Me well like I don't know but maybe the lyrics like some people didn't like them that much because they weren't like So deep and didn't have as much meaning but the song itself was good and it was catchy It was like literally pop culture type of song like song of the summer, you know and so there's just like a lot of music like that and so that's why i'm saying like you have to like You have to appreciate all these type of sounds you have to like You have to know what's a good song what's a good sound versus like shutting it down immediately, you know I feel like i'm like contradicting myself In some ways but like that I I just have like kind of a mixed opinion on it when it comes to my music taste and more bubbled but like when it comes to What everyone else is listening to? I like understand and like we'll be like, yeah, that's good Speaking of espresso my wife is like in love with that song right now. She plays everywhere She goes whether it's when we're working out or running Whatever we're doing. It's always hearing sabrina carpenter saying espresso like you said the lyrics like you said the lyrics are They're interesting, but I I get why it's catchy and I get why people will like listen to it and dance to it like it makes all the sense she She really did her thing with that song. And yeah It's just like a funny fun summer chill song. You can play wherever you go like road trips or Just shit to sing to I get it. Yeah. Yeah, totally totally But I also kind of understood what you were saying by listening to lyrics more than you do like with the beat or something like that uh, especially after I got um Back to fresno after going to sf state for a little bit. I started Listening more to lyrics than I did to a beat. I was more or less really into hype shit like logic m&m Uh, joyner lucas and I was like, oh they spit fast. I must mean they're really good at rapping But then if you really look deep into what they're saying sometimes it doesn't make any sense um so I started getting more into um I don't listen to him that much anymore but uh juice world where he would talk about like certain problems going on and things that Stuff was happening and then I got more into mac miller as well With his circles album and then post malone. It really took a turn for me and I was listening more or less to lyrics and I was the actual song and like the lyrics that would Speak to me and I could personally like connect to or the songs I listen to especially more nowadays, you know Yeah, I think that's like, you know pretty valid when it comes to rap A lot of people yeah, like you're right A lot of people will be like m&m is the greatest are the great like m&m All these like I can't listen. Oh my god. I sound like a poser. No, I swear. Um, but but when it comes to rap, i'm not that involved right now, but You know when it comes to lyricism like how they how they format it It can be like so Like incredible sometimes like mac miller. I like, you know a couple years ago. I was really into mac miller um I didn't listen to a lot of juice world But like I did at the same time and I think that was because of you guys Because back when I was still living in fresno Um, and you guys would like hang around us like or hang around me and my family and everything you guys would sometimes play your music And i'd be like, what are they listening to but like the lyrics behind it We're really like sentimental. We're really deep. We're like kind of I don't know how to say like ear catching like very memorable like you're like, okay They're trying to say something whether it's a personal or like You know political or anything like that, yeah, there's always a lot more than I initially see I have to really look for it And then I find it but um What's that? I don't really stick with like a certain artist. Well, okay that's not necessarily true, but like I I kind of like go into like different genres. Um pop or 80s heck i'd even do k-pop as well My family's a huge fan of that. Yeah, I haven't really got into k-pop Uh, my wife barbara. She's really into new jeans. I don't know if you guys have heard from that. I've heard about them But I guess they're pretty big um K-pop wise what artists do you know from there? I really haven't listened to any of k-pop man Well, I mean I think what's so great about k-pop is just how it like went into the mainstream like you start off back in 2012 with Psy when he did gangnam style, you know the first music video The first youtube video to hit a billion a billion views Uh, I guess some of the more popular ones bts Yeah, new jeans twice uh It's great. Like it's kind of shaped like a culture like in this country like it's It's it's yeah, yeah, it seems like a great like community I don't know. They got a huge community especially with the bts I remember they were like comparing the numbers to one direction and they were getting pretty close especially with their song. Um, Wait, what butter is that way? Is that what it's called? Yeah butter that got pretty big Yeah, I remember that was uh competing with one direction and all that stuff. They're pretty big Yeah, i've listened to only one song and that's butter. I know I should probably open up more to k-pop But i've been doing a little bit with new jeans I can give you like some recommendations. Like if you want to do bts I'd say boy with love is a good one uh What was the other one you mentioned I was uh new jeans Oh new jeans gods is a good one. I think they tied it to like league of legends or something It's like one of them. Oh shit I guess one thing One thing i've noticed about k-pop is like Like sure. I'm glad it's like gotten really big in the u.s. It's just as you can tell like you compare the k-pop songs from like the early 2010s or mid 2010s you compare it to like late 2010s and like even now like There's definitely a little more like english lyrics into it. I I get the feeling it's trying to like appeal to More of a larger audience since like english is a more spoken language than korean. I mean, it's just something I noticed it's not necessarily a bad thing, but I think there's that charm and like just as an american you're kind of listening to that those korean lyrics Yeah Yeah, I have noticed that they're saying more or less more more english words trying to get more listeners From the us and stuff like that Uh, but christian, I want to ask this question to you since I know you're a big movie guy. Um In the future, uh, how would you feel? about like Like more of this like podcast stuff We could focus on more like media stuff. How would you feel about that? Oh, that sounds great. Like not just music Honestly, I know more about like movies and like even video games more than I do music, but i'm open to talking about like I'm open to talking about music. Um, I remember on the last episode you said that like there was an idea to maybe Spend an entire episode like solely on one artist And I think that's a really good idea I'd be down to do that like listen to like maybe some of the best songs from that particular audience like artist or I mean and also throw in like maybe one thoughtful song that is like, okay A little bit Oh, yeah, um christian, uh, usually when I talk to you on the phone, we talk a lot about nostalgia and stuff and SF state, um, we've been Talking a lot to each other. We've been talking probably texting almost every day since COVID happened back in what? 2020 And uh when I come back home, i'm gonna be going to la to go to see the 21st average concert And uh, it's gonna be the first time i'm seeing christian in about well, what is it four years christian? Four years. Geez Wow That's gonna be a cool day We're we're both excited. Yeah I've been listening to 21 savage. I mean, I haven't listened to him too much. But you know, thanks to that playlist i've been Listening to i've been gone to everything but I think one that really clicked was This song a lot, but I think I may have heard that before Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah a lot Big song. I mean j cole's feature was kind of a surprise. I don't know where you know with that song So it kind of blew up a little more Um, but it's it's used a lot honestly in a lot of movies and media and stuff like that. And uh, because we're going to be going from a season one into a drastic change into season two Doing different things and having more fun with you guys, especially since i'm going to be back in california Uh, what would you want to see more? from us today like talking about music and like any any ideas you'd have for us to Kind of do that. He left them I was like, oh, you know You should have been talking about that A little controversy for you guys for that song Yeah, but then they're saying that she wrote it before she met him so it could just be like a generic like love song But it didn't really apply well to their situation I agree. The song's very catchy. I can't lie. She plays it at least like four times a day either we're working out like I said earlier whether we're working out or Doing what we're doing But I wanted to ask you because you listen to us and you hear us recording What do you want to hear more from us and uh next season we got going on, huh? Well, since you guys do a review like on music and stuff. I think you guys mentioned it earlier it makes sense to bring up like movies and I think tv shows was it the other one? So it makes sense to go on brand with that And honestly, that's a smart move because then you guys would have more stuff to talk about And you guys can make like a list of things to catch up on because I think they said may a lot of movies were dropping So you guys can like do your research And it'd be cute because you guys can go all hang out and watch movies take little notes on it And then talk about it. So I guess i'm kind of curious Um, how has jovi influenced your music tastes or the opposite? Oh my god a whole bunch um, I used to pick like It'd be mainly like on tiktok and instagram of edits And it'd be like the three top songs and I just cycle through those three songs and then I find three new ones And just cycle through those so I never really listened to my old stuff But then when we started dating he introduced like drake frank ocean a bit more um mack miller uh kendrick's Uh, who else? It was like more rappers and Like different songs that i'm used to And I've actually started liking a lot of those even made me like a couple playlists to listen to and like Expand my music tastes a bit more So now it's not just like all pop it's like rap or Uh, because i'm not really into like slow songs But there's actually some that i'm like, oh, I actually like them because I listen to the beat more than the words So i'm like, okay, like once I actually understand what the song's about i'm like, oh, okay. I kind of like it Yeah, it's it's funny how like me contradict like not not contradict but how different our music tastes are Uh, i'm more or less like I listen to the lyrics rather than the beat and then She really likes listening to the beat rather than the lyrics Yeah, so it's there's been times when we were dating Can I tell that story? Yeah, go ahead There's been times when we'd go on dates And I put my music on and I don't even know what the like the song's about But I like the beats like one of them. So this is a doja cat song Doja is a doja cat song and all her songs are about now that I know because he tells me but most of her songs are about like cheating or A breakup or something like that, right? And I put it on and I was just vibing to it And then he's like, are we okay? He's like is there something we have to talk about? I was like, what do you mean? I was like, what do you mean? He's like it's the song he's like it's like About like a breakup and like someone on the side and then I was like what I was like, I don't even know what What i'm listening to i'm too busy listening to the beach and he had to explain He had to explain the song to me and I was like, oh my god. I did not know that's what it was about I just i'm like way too into the beat and i'm like, oh my god And then you just kept dancing afterward Yeah, I did actually That's funny, yeah Hey, yeah, our music tastes like mine's changed a lot too, I mean uh, you guys know used to be a lot of like kind of dark stuff like juice world and xxx and Much of other different darker stuff and then once we started dating it really changed up more listening to Kids the album by macklemore Very much more upbeat stuff and I guess I was just in a happier spot now because of her that makes a lot more sense I'm gonna go ahead and let you walk out. Yeah, I even told her the joke jay that you fell in love with a bulla Yeah He wants a cougar But um, yeah, she she loves musicals and what was it what two days ago we watched hairspray like twice in a row Oh my god, it's because tiktok My feed was it kept that one song like the final song for a hairspray Or there it's all of them singing like their high notes and stuff It was it's just so catchy and I was like, I really want to watch it and I watched it twice and I was gonna watch it three times, but My family and jovi were like, you know, I don't think this is very healthy right now How dare you interrupted jovi? I wanted to have her on here. I know she's been wanting to come on here She's been nervous, but I want to say thank you and uh, I love you And I love you more But um, yeah, we're we're both really excited We're both really excited to come and see you guys, um We've been we've been busy and we're gonna be busy, but we're excited to come see you guys. I think that'd be an exciting talking point and it's just more opportunities to talk to more people About different aspects because everybody's got their own thing. So hopefully we can reach out to more of them Yeah, and don't worry guys.
