Thanks for the nice comment! You are quite correct: I tend to come up with my own melodies and this is largely true here too, but it uses a small but recognizable part of the Irish folksong "Oró, Sé Do Bheatha 'Bhaile". The song is associated with Gráinne Mhaol, a 16th Century Irish Pirate Queen.
