The Bondiwell High School is hosting a boys' basketball game between the Bondiwell Bears and the Amherst Falcons. The Falcons have a strong team with tall players, while the Bears are missing their center due to injury. The Bears are determined to compete for the conference title. The game is part of a stretch of home games for the Bears, who will also be playing against Wittenberg Burnhamwood and Reidsville. The Bears have the support of local sponsors and encourage people to shop local during the Christmas season. Good evening and welcome to Bondiwell High School for this special presentation of WIAA Boys High School Basketball. I'm Brad Grable and for Tom Beck at the station, spinning all the dials tonight, great to have everybody with us as the girls are on the road tonight, but it's the boys that are back in town. The boys are back in town for another CWC East matchup tonight. We've got all kinds of fans circulating into the gymnasium. And what do we have, young lady? I have not seen her around. No, Miss Rozga, our wonderful music teacher. We've got the cheerleaders over here to my right. The stands are filling up to my left. The boys' basketball teams have come out onto the court now. And we've got people asking me questions while I'm on the air. I love it. Tonight's broadcast brought to you by the School District of Bondiwell, St. Paul Lutheran School, the Reisner Insurance Agency, Zernike's Landstad Dairy, Nichols Paper Products, the Bondiwell State Bank, and the Highway 29 Auto, all proud sponsors of Bondiwell Bears Athletics and your home of the Bears, B99.3. Whether you're streaming on bondiwellsports.com, on your voice-activated device by saying PLAYWON, or if you're tuning in on 99.3 FM on your radio dial as you're cruising across northeast Wisconsin, wherever you go, there we are. And we have a dandy for you tonight, folks, as the Amherst Falcons have invaded this new, fine, upgraded, beautiful complex that we have here in Bondiwell. If you haven't been down to the new gym, come on down. And we've got a huge crowd on hand tonight as we've got youth cheerleader night. Oh, yeah, there's about 40 of them over to my right as they're in the bleachers, grades kindergarten through eighth grade. Carrie Balfa's putting on that program along with our high school cheer squad. And the Amherst Falcons have come to town, and they are 2-0 on the season, defeating Wild Rose and Adams Friendship in their first two contests, averaging 62 points a game. And I got a chance to talk to their coach, Bill Jagelow, before the contest, and he's pretty excited about this team. They've got a lot of height on the roster. Their shortest player being 5'11". At 5'11", they have three players at 5'11", but then they're six foot and over with a couple of players that are 6'4". We'll see how that comes into play as the Bears are without the services of their center. The 6'5", Ryan Westrick, still recovering from an injury suffered late during the football season, but he will be back in action in a couple of weeks. The reports are very good. The healing process is going well. And Ryan will join the team in not too long. But up until that point, it is the Bears that have rotated the lineup. Coach Kopp going with a shorter lineup tonight. We'll get to the starters here in a little bit. And for the Falcons, they're coming in here, as I said, 2-0, defeating Wild Rose by the score of 85-41 and Wapaka by the score of 55-28. As we look at the Falcons' roster, they are led by Jaron Elfos, who comes in scoring 20.5 points a game. Jack Seeger has 11. And Sully Perkins with 9.5 points in his first two contests average. Rebounding per game leaders, Jack Seeger has 6.5 boards per game. Sully Perkins with 4.5. And in the assist column, it's Spencer Colum with 8.5 assists in his first two contests. So, not afraid to be a team player. He is the one who distributes the basketball to his teammates. And we're looking forward to a great contest here tonight from the Falcons. For the Bears, on the other hand, they come into this contest 0-1. They've only played one game on the season. That game was broadcast right here on the home of the Bears, P99.3. They fell to St. Mary Catholic in a back-and-forth contest, but were led by Noah Weier. He had 18 points, Ray Sandblank had 11. And Kate Johnson came off the bench in that contest and had 9 points. Also, Colin Margulowsky had 6 rebounds, along with Sam Roberts, to lead the team in that first contest against St. Mary Catholic. Again, in the assist department, Colin Margulowsky had 7 assists in the first game. So, Colin, as we've seen, a lot of minutes last year, this group is returning everyone from last year's team that went a couple of games into the tournament before falling out. And then, taking a look at coming back this year, Coach Kopp said this could be one of the best teams that he's had since he's been at the helm. From last year, Noah Weier was averaging 13.4 points per game. Colin Margulowsky was 7.8. Charlie Tauken was 7.3. Kate Johnson had 9.7 points per game. And then, Ryan Westrick, the reason why we brought Ryan up, not only because we want him back from that injury, but he was adding 13.4 points per contest last season as a freshman. So, as a sophomore coming into this year, you can only imagine the kind of offensive punch and along the defensive side, keeping the opposing team out of the paint that he's going to add. But until that point, you will also see Owen Springboard and Brody Hartman, along with Ray Sandlink, who's getting the start tonight, roped paid into the lineup. Sam Roberts had a big game in that first contest, and we'll see how Sam does tonight in the paint, as he's going to have to hold down inside against this tall Falcon lineup. He said they're going to have a big challenge while Ryan is out of the lineup, but he expects his team to compete for the conference title. We're in the pregame. We're going to send it back to the station for two minutes on the home of the Bears, B99.3. Are you tired of long commutes and impersonal work environments? Work local. Back to Bondwell Bear Basketball on B-99.3. All right, everyone, welcome back to Bondwell High School as we are in the pregame. As the boys are going to host the Amherst Falcons tonight, and as we look at other games around the area in boys' basketball, Marion is at Gresham Community. Alvin Bancroft is at Rochoke. Menominee Indian High School is over at Manoa. Tigerton takes a trip to White Lake. Wittenberg Burnhamwood at Iola Scandinavia. Niagara travels to Gillett. Zuring is going to take a trip up to Krivets. Shado is over at Menasha. Xavier at Seymour. And Green Bay Southwest at Hortonville. Those are all boys' basketball games. On the girls' side of things, the Bondwell Bears girls' basketball team is over in Peshtigo. We'll be receiving updates from that game as we go along through this contest. Denmark takes a trip over to Freedom. Clintonville is at Luxembourg-Casco. Seymour at New London. Menominee Indian High School at Bowler High School. Faith Christian is at Marion. And, as we said, the Bears basketball team is on the road at Peshtigo, so one of those nights where the boys and girls are playing on the same night. For the Amherst Falcons, they come into this contest at 2-0 on the season. Your Bears, 0-1, only having played one game so far. They've got a stretch of home games. As we look at the schedule, the boys' basketball team played against St. Mary Catholic in their inaugural game here the other night. Fell in that contest, but they're trying to redeem themselves tonight against Amherst. They will also play host to Wittenberg Burnham with this Friday, along with the Reidsville next Tuesday. So Reidsville coming to town, an opponent that we haven't seen in quite some time, before they go on the road to Guayaquil-Fremont and then come home to host Clintonville and Peshtigo. So in their first six contests, the boys are playing five of those six at home. They hit a road stretch from January 11th to January 26th where they'll play five games in a row on the road. So we'll see what kind of road warriors they are at that point. As the teams finish their warm-ups and they head over to the bench, we invite you to pay attention to our sponsors' ads as we go along through this broadcast because you know what season we're heading up on. That's right, it's the Christmas season. So head on down to our sponsors. J.B. game was won by coach Mark Margulofsky's squad by the score of 58-34. They are 1-1 on the season. And the varsity team looking to even up their record. For coach Duke Copps, Mondo Albairs. They'll start number 1, Kate Johnson, a 5'9 junior. Number 2, Colin Margulofsky, a 6'1 senior. Number 11, Charlie Tauken, a 5'9 senior. Number 15, Noah Weier, a 6'2 senior. And number 24, Race Andelink, a 6'1 junior. Coach Copps assisted by Dan Sotno, Mark Margulofsky, Bob Zaskowski, and Brett Margulofsky. Tell them you heard about it right here on the home of the Bears, B-93, 99-3, as we get ready for the opening tip. And the teams are coming to center court. Initiating crew, I recognize them. They had our contest over in Peshtigo. These guys do football and basketball. And the tip is going to be won by Amherst. As they'll bring it up across the midcourt line, Sully Perkins with the basketball being guarded by Race Andelink. Bears come out in a man-to-man defense. Right up in the face of the Falcons as they like to shoot the three. And Cade Johnson drawing the responsibility of guarding Spencer Cohen. Jaren Elfhoof is the one that has had the hot hand in their first two games. Cohen down the lane, left hand, can't get it to go. Rebounded by Weyer. Coach Kopp going with a smaller lineup tonight. Roberts got the start in the last game. And Cade Johnson came off the bench, had a nice game. He'll get the start in this contest as the Bears have the basketball. Just underway from Bondwell High School. And there he is, Colin Margolowski. Hits the three to start off the scoring and the Bears are out to a 3-0 lead. And they come out in the full court, man-to-man. I won't call it a press, kind of token pressure. Slow the other team down a little bit. Glad to have you with us tonight. We've got the youth cheerleading night tonight. Nice crowd on hand. And driving to the basket, a foul on the floor. And let's see who they give this one to. That's Cade Johnson. Cade was on his heels. Spencer Cohen driving to the basket. Able to get the first foul on Johnson. So Cade getting the start tonight. Picks up a foul. That's the first team foul. Just underway. Bears lead this one 3-0. In an early conference matchup. They'll have a few of those. Another one coming on Friday night. Here's a shot from the outside by the Falcons. Goes up and over the rim. Rebounded inside by Seeger. Seeger hitting. Now he'll kick it back out to Cohen, who knocks down a 3. So we're all tied up, 3 apiece. Nice ball movement by the Falcons that time. They'll also come out in the man-to-man defense of both teams. And a nice switch that time. Marguloski down the right side. Gets it back up to the top of the key to Talkin. Down the lane now. Back out to Talkin. Flips it over to Marguloski. And now Weyer, who's outside beyond the arc. Now dribbling inside. He spins. Left hand up and in. Noah Weyer had the defender right where he wanted him. And he put it up with the left hand. Love to see the players do that too. They use their body to shield the defender. And goes up with the left hand off the glass. They give the Bears a 5-3 lead. In this contest on a beautiful evening, we've had some great weather to start out December. And another spin dribble on the other side. Boy, I'll tell you, these two teams, they're just mirroring each other. One hits a 3, the other hits a 3. A spin dribble on one side, same thing on the other. And the link's 3 off the back of the air. Now rebounded by Marguloski. Swings it all the way out to Talkin for 3 off the front of the rim. And the link inside. Oh yeah, the easy shot inside. I think Ray thought there was going to be some contact. There was none. And he put it too hard off the glass. 5-5 with 15 minutes to go here in the first half. Another spin dribble underneath by Cohen. Gets it taken out of his hands by Talkin. Up to Weyer across the mid-court line. Noah between the legs. Flip it all the way across to Johnson with the right hand. You don't usually see Kane going to the right. Weyer for 3. This one won't go. Rebounded underneath by the Falcons as both teams are pushing the pace here early from Manuel High School. 5-5, 14 and a half minutes to go here in the first half. Nice feed underneath to Seeger. Seeger up off the glass, rebounded by Johnson. Both teams a little bit cold in their last couple of possessions. Now Weyer down the lane, hard to the basket. Up off the glass and in. Well, I didn't think that shot was going to go as Noah just kind of chucked it up there from his hip. But he had the right spin on it. It was high off the glass and it did go down. And he got followed on the way by Parker Solsby. So Noah will go to the free throw line. Chance for the traditional 3-point play as number 15 sets his feet. Shots up, rolls around and rims out. So Weyer with 4 points. The Bears have a 7-5 lead. And here come the Falcons. And Weyer too much body on the outside. He didn't really have to jump up on that as Johnson had Solsby by himself. So Noah Weyer gets his first foul and that's the team's second. Cohen now with the basketball for the Falcons. Just underway as the JV game. Pretty fast-paced game. Coach Mark Margulofsky and his squad winning that contest. Johnson from the outside and Kate Johnson for 3. The Bears have hit two 3s here early and lead 10-5. Nice look by Johnson, the lefty. Feet underneath the seager. Oh, he had an easy basket. Puts it up and over the rim. And Blink with the rebound. Quickly up the court. Margulofsky for 2. The Bears are off and running. And Margulofsky's got 5 to lead all scorers. 12-5 in favor of Bondwell. And Blink out defending on Perkins. And he's right up in his grill. Nice defense by Raess. Perkins looking for somebody to go to. Flips it over to Cohen. Now Cohen will reset the Falcons' offense. As they've had about 4 or 5 good looks. And he takes one too many steps. Cohen does. That'll be a turnover back to the Bears. And if you're Coach Kopp, that's what you like to see. In a turnover without having to do too much work. As Cohen took one extra step. And the Bears with a 12-5 lead. Colin Margulofsky. Now he'll come out to the point guard position. Off the wire. Perkins underneath. A cutting. Margulofsky way over on the left side. Springborn takes a look at a 3. Now he'll pull it back down. Gets it back to Colin. And Blink's open for 3. Off the right side. Rebounded by wire. Good work by the Bears. As they're going to get a third look at it. Springborn shoot at a 1. No, he's wide open. He passes it up. In and out to Raess. Back to Springborn. Now he'll drive in the paint. Left hand up and off the glass. Just a little bit short. Springborn passed up a couple of wide open shots outside. I don't think you'll see that too often. Owen has got pretty good range. A number of 3-point shooters on Coach Kopp's roster. Sometimes they live by it. Sometimes they die by it. But they are going to shoot it. There's no question about it. Amherst. Falcons try a 3 of their own. Can't get it to go. Rebounded by Johnson. Now Cade the other way. Here's Anvilink for 3. A little bit short. Raess has been short on all 3 of his 3's so far. Just got to put a little more oomph in it. Need some power like that spaghetti that they serve up at the BES cafeteria. You know that I was all fired up this morning about that spaghetti. Well, Joy and Noreen are cooks over there. They do a fine job every day. But on Spaghetti Day, that's extra motivation. As you can smell the garlic bread cooking right away in the morning. I can't even concentrate. Not right now. Of course, back to the game. Back to basketball. That spaghetti was awesome. Here's Springborn. He gets it taken out of his hands by McCormick. Taylor McCormick into the game now for the Falcons. And on the drive, a traveling call on Jaron Alford. Alford with a 6'4", but he makes his money beyond the arc. He's a talented 3-point shooter for the Falcons. Took one extra step that time. We're at 11-29 here in the first half from Bondwell High School. Glad to have everybody along with us as the Bears lead this one 12-5. Backdoor cut by Johnson. Just a little bit too much mustard on the pass. But it goes out to, who is that? Bergalowski once again. Collins got his second 3. Eight points, and the Bears have their largest lead, 15-5. We were all knotted up at 5 apiece, and the Bears are on a 10-0 run. Falcon basketball. Amherst, been cold for a while. They're now driving into the basket. That's the way to get your team back in the scoring column. Cohen took it by three bears on his way to the basket, up off the glass, and in 15-7 in favor of Bondwell. Johnson for 3, knocks it down. Cade Johnson, a Rainmaker 3 from way downtown. He was in Navarino when he shot that. Quickly up the court, out of the Falcons, and they get it to Seeger, and he gets his first 2 points. So here we go. I'm going to need about 3 more Gatorades if they keep this pace up. It's 18-9 in favor of the Bears. Johnson dribbles between the legs. Oh, he threw a cross-court pass to Stringborn, and he thought he was too tall, Jones, because he threw it way up there. Coach Kopp not happy with that possession. Sam Roberts now, he checks into the game. Wire comes out. Brody Hartman checks in. The race end, Blink gets a break. 18-9 in favor of the Bears, and it'll be Falcon basketball off the turnover. Cohen looking to drive the left side. He'll come back to the right. Has a cutting Glodowski, but 2 Bears stepped in front of it. Hartman comes out with the basketball. Now Brody on the right side to Stringborn. Owen looking underneath. He'll get it back to Roberts, dribbling the baseline. And the Bears will reset their offense. Stringborn looks at a 3. Now he'll pull it back down. Very small lineup in now for the Bears with Wire out of there and Blink. Johnson now, he'll take the point guard position, crossover, right-hand dribble. Kicks it out to Margolowski for 3. And this one, this time Collin comes up short. Still 18-9 in favor of the Bears. Nine-and-a-half minutes to go. Fast-paced action here from Bondewell High School. No timeouts yet. Here's a pass up court to Stringborn. Saves it inside to Roberts. Now Margolowski, hesitation, dribble, beautiful move. Margolowski has 10 points. Collin having himself a night. Number 2 gets 2 as he drives to the basket and gives the Bears a 20-9 lead. All the youth cheerleaders are getting ready to yell and scream and build pyramids at halftime. There's about 40 of them over to my right. We'll see the cheer squad, the youth cheer night at halftime. Johnson outside for 3, a little bit long. Bears still lead 20-9. Falcon basketball, and they didn't have any problems scoring their first 5 points, but they've gone cold for a while. Only 4 points in the last 6 minutes. And they get tied up underneath this tenacious Bear defense. And that'll be a turnover back to Bondewell. Quinn Wiesenberg checking into the contest along with Charlie Tauken. So we've got Wiesenberg, Tauken, Stringborn, Hartman, and Roberts on the floor for the Bears. 8 1⁄2 minutes to go, fast-paced action here as the Bears have put 20 points on the board to the Falcons' 9. Stringborn underneath to Hartman, gets it tapped out of his hands, but it'll stay with Bears' possession as Weyer comes back in for Brody Hartman. Noah Weyer back in the lineup now. Noah's got one foul. Johnson's got one. Neither team in any foul trouble. Wiesenberg cutting to the basket. The lefty off the rim, and it just went everywhere but through. Bounced all the way around the rim. Falcon basketball. Now Amherst, as Coach Kopp is saying, they've got to switch the screens. They do a nice job of screening. There's Seaberg underneath, and you're not going to stop that. Jack Seeger gets another 2 points. When he gets it that deep in the paint, the Bears don't have anybody to defend that. As Seeger comes in here at 6'4", with Westrick out of the lineup, that would probably be his matchup. Wiesenberg for three. Knock it down, Quinn Wiesenberg. The Bears are hot from the outside here in the first half. They've got five threes, and they get a steal. And another three, and this one rattles around. Rebounded by Springborn. They get a steal in the backcourt, so the Falcons not doing a good job of taking care of the basketball. And this time, the Bears give it right back to them. Roberts was going for the basket, then Weyer threw it behind him, so that will be a turnover back to Amherst. Collin Margulofsky checking back in now. Springborn, Owen comes out. 7'23 to go here in the first half, and the Bears lead 23-11. Falcon basketball now as the Bears continue in the man-to-man defense. And they've extended it out, really pushing the Falcons out of the paint. And a five-second call as there was nowhere to go. There were Bears all over the place. And we're going to have a timeout by Coach Jagelow of the Falcons. We'll take one, two. We'll be back in one minute on the Home of the Bears, B99.3. All right, everyone, welcome back to Vonderwaal High School. The Bears, they took a short timeout that time. Seager for the Falcons was able to get one really deep in the paint, and easy two for him as Seager's got six points. But quickly up the court came the Bears, and Wiesenberg buries his second three of the first half. Bears have doubled up the Falcons 26 to 13 right now, as it stands with six and a half minutes to go here in the first half. 26-13 in favor of the Bears. Looking to even up their record as they fell in their first contest by the score, or excuse me, to St. Mary Catholic, a non-conference matchup. One of many home games that the Bears have before we hit the Christmas break, and from the outside, and they'll call it a three. I didn't see it. It looked like he was inside the line, but Perkins buries his first points of the contest. 26-16, just when it seems like the Bears are going to pull away, the Falcons come right back. Margolowski taking it into the paint. Now Wiesenberg underneath, a quick pass outside to Weyer. He'll get a chance at a three, and everybody's hitting threes tonight. The Bears have put four players in the scoring column, and Noah Weyer has seven points. 29-16, 5.45 to go here in the first half. Pass underneath, stolen by Weyer now. Bears look to add to their lead as Weyer will flip it over to Toucan, gets it back to Wiesenberg. Now Wiesenberg driving underneath, and what do we have? A foul away from the basketball. As one of the Falcons was trying to push through the screen, and that was Jaron Alputh. He'll get called with his first foul. Both teams with three fouls apiece, so fast-paced action, but really not a whole lot of hand-checking and, you know, over-aggressiveness. Both teams playing very good defense so far. And the link, he'll try a three, and again, race a little bit short. So race has had good looks, but just coming up a little bit short, he might need to take a step inside the arc and settle for a two. Driving along the baseline, using his hand to get separation as Soulsby. He'll get it over to Perkins. Now Perkins has to get out of the paint. Here comes Cohen. Cohen looking for the open man just inside. Oh, they called it a three, and again. I thought I saw a toe on the line. I'm going to have to get my glasses checked. The fan's giving the officials the business, so I think I was right on that. I thought he had his toe on the line. But quickly the other way, and Weyer up for two. So Noah Weyer's got his ninth point of the first half, and the Bears, every time the Falcons inch a little bit closer, the Bears respond. That's what you want to see. Not like that game against St. Mary Catholic. That was a game of runs. We'd score five or six, and then they'd score eight. And we'd score eight, and they'd score six. And it was back and forth the entire night. Here's a follow inside by Andelink, as the hands got a little bit too aggressive. And that's the fourth team follow on the Bears, the first on race. And checking into the contest for the Falcons will be Colton Vanderlaan, a 6'1 junior, along with Owen Springborn for the Bears. Springborn and Johnson back into the contest, Bears leading 31-19 with four and a half minutes to go here in the first half. They get it in to Vanderlaan. And who gets it over to Cohen? Cohen just inside the arc, back to Vanderlaan, deep in the right corner. And we're going to have an illegal screen. That'll be an illegal screen on Jaron Althouth. Althouth can't believe it, putting his hands out. But his coach, he's not really saying too much about it. Coach Bill Jagelow, nice guy. Spent a couple years at UW-Stevens Point coaching basketball, and now he's in his fifth season as the Amherst Falcons head coach. Always willing to talk before the game, not just about basketball, but about a lot of other things. Of course, interested in a lot of sports. And the Falcons and Bears, CWC East Conference polls, but it's always nice to talk to the opposing head coach. And he's willing to give information, not only on his team, but told me a lot about our team, which tells me that he does his scouting. 31-19 in favor of the Falcons. Wide open underneath is going to be Vanderlaan. Spins to the basket, up with the right hand, and in. So Colton Vanderlaan gets his first two points, and the Falcons are back to a ten-point deficit. 31-21 in favor of the Bears. Three and a half minutes to go now. Here's Ann Belink out to Johnson. They leave him wide open. You can't do that. Kidd Johnson hits his third three of the first half. Johnson's got nine points all from the three-point line. And if you're the Falcons, you should know better. Do not leave Kidd Johnson open. Kidd, the nifty wide receiver, defensive back, all-around utility player for us on the football team, is doing it on the basketball court too. Here's a pass inside and a foul as Vanderlaan goes to the basket. They'll call it on the floor. That's the fourth team foul on the Bears. This one is going against Springborn. So Owen picks up his first foul. 3-0-3 to go here in the first half. Bears back to a 13-point lead. That last match is their largest lead of the night. As the Falcons drawing a lot of attention, is going to be Taylor McCormick. He had three Bears around him. I don't know how he came out of there with it. He'll flip it back to Perkins now. The Falcons reset their offense. Driving down in the paint is going to be Vanderlaan. And Malink and Marguloski have him trapped in the corner and he throws it out of there. Johnson flying down the court. Easy basket for Kidd Johnson. Johnson now in double figures. 36-21 and the Bears with their largest lead of the night. 2-23 to go here in the first half. And now Bears, a lot of pressure in the backcourt. The steal. No wire up off the glass and in. Timeout on the floor. We'll take one, two. We'll be back in one minute. All right, everyone. Welcome back to Bondwell High School as the Bears are out to their largest lead of the night, 38-21, doing it with pressure defense and now more pressure in the backcourt as the Falcons better be careful. Yes, they're going to get a 10-second call. You only have 10 seconds to get it across the mid-court line. That rule's been in effect for years and years, and the Falcons acted like they had unlimited time to get it up the court. That was a 10-second call, and they had barely made it past their free-throw line coming this way as I'm down in the corner of the gymnasium. And the Bears have extended their defense and made the Falcons pay as Weyer once again gets it underneath. Noah Weyer really having himself a night here tonight, and good look underneath by Springborn. Now who are we going to have? Oh, wow, too much pressure in the backcourt as there's going to be a foul called, and I think this one is going against Weyer, and it is. That's his second. So nothing wrong with turning up the heat on defense, but you don't want to get too many fouls by doing it. That's the sixth team foul on the Bears and the second on Noah Weyer. 40-21 in favor of Bondwell with 1.42 to go here in the first half, and it'll be Falcon basketball. Now the Bears will drop back in their man-to-man defense as they've played the entire first half, really trapping every chance they get. Oh, a mismatch inside, and a lot passed to Seager goes over his head. Seager was posted up against Johnson. Falcons wanted to give him the ball, but the pass was just a little bit too far as Johnson now, he'll take the point position for the Bears, gives it over to Springborn. Springborn between the legs, driving down the lane, kicks it out to Hartman who loses the handle on the ball, and that'll rule out of bounds. We haven't been down to this new high school gymnasium yet, folks. You need to get down here. Check this video board out. That's right above my head. We've got the digital scoring up there. There's messages you'll hear from myself, Mr. Labarge, Miss Labarge, Mr. DeWittziak. I've heard some players up there. And, of course, what do we have here? An offensive foul, just as I was going to say. The video board also is used not only during the girls' and boys' basketball games, but we have special events as we'll go through the year. So what a fine addition to this gymnasium. And thank you to all of our voters, taxpayers, for passing that referendum. So we can have this beautiful facility to be playing in. 40-21 in favor of the Bears. What a great first half. You couldn't have designed it any better if your coach got 34 seconds to go on the clock. Now, as the Falcons are looking for an open shot, can't get one. This Bears defense has been tough all night. Now Perkins sways inside into the lane and puts up a running one-hander, making it 40-23. Kate Johnson, against Cohen, crosses the mid-court line, goes behind the back, gets it over to Tauken, 12 seconds to go. Now Bears looking for one shot. They get it to Marguloski. Marguloski being defended by Alpo. Now Marguloski into the lane, four seconds, got to get a shot off. Hartman up over the rim, tapped around, and the shot comes off. Too late for the Falcons. Oh, boy, they hit the Daktronics board up on the top of the backboard. Hey, be careful with that, my friends. That costs money. That will be the end of the first half as the Bears lead 40-23 over the Amherst Falcons. We are at youth cheer night at halftime, so we'll have a little bit of an extended half as we'll send it back to the station for six minutes on the home of the Bears, V-99-3. Back to Bondwell Bear Basketball on V-99.3. Alright everybody, welcome back to Bondwell High School as we're at halftime of the game between your Bondwell Bears and the Amherst Falcons. Falcons coming in here at 2-0 on the season and the Bears at 0-1, but it's the Bears who have the advantage by the score of 40-23 here at halftime. How'd they do it? With pressure defense as the Falcons came out, matching the Bears point-for-point through the five-point mark. That was our last tie of the game. It was all knotted up, five points apiece. And then the Bears went on a 15-4 run, and they've never looked back since. It is 40-23 at halftime, and for the Falcons, they were led by Jack Seeger. He had six points. Sully Perkins and Spencer Cohen had five points apiece. Tarka Soulsby with three. Colton Vanderlaan and Jaron Elfhoof had two points apiece. The Falcons did not get to the free-throw line, which tells me a little bit about the way that the style of this game was played. The Bears have extended their defense, trapping them on the perimeter, trapping them in the corners, and making numerous turnovers in the backcourt. As the Bears were able to turn those turnovers into points to this 40-23 lead. Leading the way for Vondell was Noah Warrior with 13 points. Kate Johnson had 11, Colin Margulowsky with 10, and Quinn Weisenberg came off the bench and had six points on two three-pointers. The Bears had seven, eight three-pointers in the first half. You hit eight threes, you got 24 of your 40 points from the three-point line. And Colin Margulowsky started the scoring off early. Kate Johnson's been hot beyond the arc. The Falcons have not found an answer for the one-two punch of Margulowsky and Johnson. Then when you've got Noah Warrior, who's not only good at distributing the basketball, but making himself visible in the paint. The 6'4 senior for the Bears has 13 points to lead all scorers here in this contest. The Bears were 0 for 1 for the free-throw line, so neither team in any kind of foul trouble. Warrior does have two fouls, but neither team in any real foul trouble, and only one free-throw shot in that first half. We didn't have a timeout until midway through that first half, and only a couple in the entire half. So not many breaks in the action, whether it was free-throw shooting to slow the pace down or timeout. So both of these teams have spent a lot of energy in this contest. The Bears out to a 40 to 23 lead. We've got an update from Peshtigo. From Peshtigo, we are leading 28 to 8 at halftime. Ella Hischke has 7 points. Ashlyn Curry and Tatum Sporyski with 4 points apiece. Haley Zernicke leads the Bears with 8 points. Haley Thompson has 3, and Juliana Jacobs with 2. Thank you, Amy Zernicke, for providing us with the updates from Peshtigo as the girls are on the road tonight. They are leading 28 to 8 at halftime with a 20-point lead. The Bears here, the boys' team, is leading by 17. Yes, my math is still good. I have 40 to 23. That's a 17-point lead for the Bears, who have not looked back since we were tied at 5 points apiece early in this first half. As we head up on the Christmas season, you're looking for Christmas music to get into the holiday spirit. Turn to the B99.3 Sister Station, WTCH, which has magically turned into WTCH the Christmas Station, presented by Abbey Bank. 24-7 Christmas music featuring new songs and timeless traditional songs. You know I have it on every morning. I say, play WTCH when I wake up, and there it is, Christmas music. That's the way I want to start out my day. Starting out the second half is going to be the Falcons with the basketball. They'll have possession, getting it into Seager. Seager takes it into the paint, up off the glass, and in. I thought we would see more of that in the first half. He did lead the Falcons' scorers with 6 points, but the Bears really have no one to defend against Seager. He's 6'4". He's got to be at least 230, maybe 235 pounds. Good-looking basketball player, as he makes his free throw, too. So the Falcons are now 1-for-1 from the Charity Stripe. Back to a 14-point lead for the Bears. They get it to Andelink. Andelink gets the pass knocked out of his hands by the Falcons. I'm sure Coach Jagelow had some words for his team. They had numerous unforced errors in the first half, and they need to do a better job of taking care of the basketball. And scoring, as Alpo goes to the rim and puts it up off the glass and in. Just like that, the Falcons come out on a 4-0 run. Coach Jagelow talking to him before the game. His team coming in here 2-0, scoring 60-plus points a game. So 23 in the first half, certainly not in their scoring average. And the Bears have to be careful not to let the Falcons creep back into this contest. 40-28 right now. Bears' largest lead was 17. That's the lead they held at halftime. And a turnover once again, as the Falcons have switched up their defense, and it's caused some confusion for the Bears. Now on the other end, Cohen, 1-on-1 against Johnson. Cohen driving into the paint, looking for somebody to pass to. Finally gets it out to Alpooth. Alpooth driving in, or excuse me, that's Soulsby. Soulsby gets it knocked out of his hands by Falcon, and a timeout. Coach Kopp's going to take a 30-second timeout, but we'll keep it here this time, as the Bears lead 40-23 at halftime. And the Falcons are on a 5-0 run. Coach Kopp not liking what he's seeing, so he calls a timeout. Gives us a chance to thank our sponsors once again. The Bondwell School District, St. Paul Lutheran School, the Reisner Insurance Agency, Zernike's Landstatt Dairy, Nichols Paper Products, Bondwell State Bank, and Highway 29 Auto. There's about 10 cars in the front of Terry's there, 29 Auto. Go up and buy one. You know I got my truck. And a couple of cars from there. They've got them out front. Stop by, check them out. All kinds of parts and supplies. Everything that you need up at Terry's 29 Auto. Proud sponsor of B99.3, the home of the Bears. Kate Johnson now out of the timeout, out to Margulowsky, his three off the mark. Nice hustle by Seeger. Seeger trying to get it up court. To Alpooth, gets it picked off by Endling, both teams back and forth now. Here we go, Johnson, Margulowsky, three off the mark. And like I said, when they're going, they're going. But when they're missing, that's an easy way to... Oh boy, the Bears got lucky that time. Margulowsky's three came up short. And it looked like it went off of one of the Bears, but they do get it back to Bondwell. Leading 40-28, Talkin gets it to Endling, out to Margulowsky. Now he doesn't pull a trigger on the three. Gets it back out to Talkin, driving in the paint. To Endling, running the weave, wire set, 15-foot jumper, can't get it to go. Rebounded by the Falcons. So Cohen looking to cut further into this Bears lead. Falcons have scored the only five points here in the second half. And Cohen takes it into the paint, undefended, go back up with it. Oh, certainly, as he gets a third shot attempt. Wow, Bears not boxing out. Driving into the paint now is Alpooth, and he's followed by Johnson. So that's going to be two fouls on Cade Johnson. Two team fouls on the Bears, as Spencer Cohen will take it out of bounds for Amherst. Falcons have scored the only five points here in the second half. They get it into Soulsby. Soulsby looking for somebody to pass to. Gets it to Alpooth, his three a little bit long. Rebounded by Johnson. Now let's see if the Bears can turn it into points. Wired, Anvilink. Anvilink launches a three, and this time he gets it to go. Finally, Ray Anvilink gets it to go. I think he was 0 for 3 or 4 in the first half, but a shooter's got to shoot. You got to let it fly when you're open, and Ray's did that. Bears back to a 15-point lead. Falcons on the other end, driving to the basket. Nice job of rebounding by Perkins. He puts it up off the glass and in, and it's 13 points. So, the Bears can't sleep on this Falcons team. It looked like it was over at halftime, 40-23, but Falcons right now are on a 7-3 run to start this second half. Margoloski, looking, looking, finally gets it to Talken. Now to Anvilink, open again. Knocked it down. Ray Anvilink, very similar to Kate Johnson in terms of his range, shooting ability. Very similar players, Kate a little bit faster, stronger, but Ray's range, he plays good defense, and they've both got a nice 3-point shot. And now Johnson with the steal underneath. Coming the other way, Kate, over to the wire, wire for 3. Oh, boy, the Bears, they had a 17-point halftime lead, and that closed down to 12, and now it's back up to 19, 49-30. In favor of Bondwell, Seager all the way down the court. As they pass it up to Jack Seager, he's got 11 points for the Falcons to lead his team, 49-32. The Bears' reigning threes have just increased their lead back up to 19. Now it's at 17 once again. After four minutes have gone by here in the second half, the Bears saw the lead dwindle down to 12, but back up to 17. Talkin', lookin' inside, now he'll bring it back out. Being defended on the outside by Soulsby, gets it to Marguloski, bounced past the wire, intercepted by Seager, and a fight on the floor. And they called timeout, they did. We'll take one two, we'll be back in one minute on the Home of the Bears, B99.3. Are you tired of long commutes and impersonal work environments? Work local. Back to Bondwell Bears basketball on B99.3. All right, everyone, welcome back to Bondwell High School. As it's the Falcons with the basketball now. The Bears are leading 49-32 with Kate Johnson in control. Gets it out to Ann Bilenk. Ann Bilenk's shot just off the mark. Rebounded inside by Seeger. Bears leading 49-32 with 13-17 to go here in the second half. Matching their largest lead of the contest, and the Falcons calling timeout. They get it inside, and powering his way to the basket is Cohen. Cohen gets his seventh point of the night, and he'll get to go to the free-throw line. As we'll have a foul, and that one's going to be on Johnson. That's his third. Kate Johnson picking up his third foul. Falcon and Ann Bilenk coming to the bench. Springborn and Roberts checking in. So we've got Margulowsky, Johnson, Weyer, Springborn, and Roberts into the contest. And all those players on the football field this year. Here comes Quinn Weisenberg. Quinn also played a little bit for us later in the season. Margulowsky, Colin, came out this year as a senior and had one fine year. Boy, I tell you, he really did a nice job at receiver, defensive back for us. I think it'll pay off. I know it will during his basketball season. As it's tapped around underneath, out to Roberts, to Springborn, into Margulowsky. He'll get it to Weyer. Weyer looking at a three now, looking inside to Roberts. Bring it all the way across court to Weisenberg. Bears with nice ball movement. Weyer left wide open. Goes right around the rim, and there's Roberts. That's what he's in for. He's the rebound man, the windex guy, cleaning up the glass. Sam Roberts. You better bring a flashlight and a lunch bucket when you play against Sam Roberts, because you're going to be in for some hard work, and you'll be there all night. Sam Roberts makes the most of his athletic ability, and gives you 110% all the time. Oh, foul on the other end. Offensive foul. Alfuth can't believe it, but he stuck the arm out. We mentioned it earlier in the contest that Alfuth was using his arm to kind of get some separation between himself and the defender, and they let it go the first time, but not this time. Alfuth called with the foul. He's got three. Johnson's got three for the Bears, with 12-12 to go here in the first half. The Bears lead 49-35. Badgers took care of the Spartans tonight. Thank you, Kerry Grunneveld, for that score update. Our associate principal, always tuning in to the home of the Bears, B-99-3. Falcons with the rebound now, going the other way. Still within 14 points, so the game's not over yet. The Bears have to be careful not to take a foot off the gas, as the Falcons can score points in a hurry. They're used to scoring over 60 points a contest, but the Bears' defense has had something to do with that. Long pass up court. Wire to Marguloski. Collins saves it in, but into the hands of Cohen, coming the other way. Spencer Cohen looking underneath to Seeger. To Seeger. Seeger on wire. Could have gone up with the reverse layup, but no, they'll kick it back out. Now, Alputh, oh, a lot of contact in the paint. And they'll call a foul on the floor. I believe this one's going on Wiesenberg. Did they give it to Quinn? No, they called it on number 30. That's Sam Roberts. Alputh went right in between Roberts and Wiesenberg, so Roberts gets the foul. And a fourth team foul on the Bears, so have to be careful there, too. You don't want to stop the clock and let's send the Falcons to the free-throw line. Oh, crossover dribble by Solesby. Had an easy basket, couldn't get it to go, but Seeger is there for the putback. And Seeger's got 13 points on the night for Amherst, and the lead is back to 12, 49-37. In favor of the Bears with Seeger going to the free-throw line. Seeger's shot is up off the right side. Can't get it to go, so it's still a 12-point lead. Eleven minutes to go on the clock. Wiesenberg with the basketball. He'll get it over to Weyer just in front of the Bears' student section. Margulowski for three. Knocks it down. Boy, that can't be easy to take if you're the Amherst Falcons. You start creeping a little bit closer, and you think maybe if we get a stop here or there we're going to have a chance, and the Bears come down and just start knocking down threes once again. Into the paint, Cohen. Back out top to Alfuth. Falcons driving to the basket. It's going to be Solesby up over the rim. Quickly up the court, Weyer to Margulowski. Always looking to push the pace is this Bondwell Bears team. As Weyer looking underneath now, looking for somebody to cut. Somebody's got to move. Here we go. No one dribbles it. Finds Roberts wide open. Whoa, what a pass from Weyer to Roberts. As Sam Roberts has his first two points on the night. And very unselfish basketball by the Bears. Looking for the open team, eh, Weyer? Well, you know, he's a quarterback, and he's always looking to make the right pass, and he did a number of times to Roberts on the football field and got it to him here on the court. Spencer Cohen on the other side puts it up off the glass of him. So the lead remains at 15, 54, 39. Nine and a half minutes to go as they bring it all the way across court to Springborn. Deep in the corner to Wiesenberg. Quinn looking underneath. Nothing there. Gets it out to Roberts. As the Falcons have come into a zone defense now, a 1-3-1 zone. Running that baseline in a 1-3-1 zone is not an easy task. As Margulowsky makes them pay. You can't play the zone and guard Colin Margulowsky at the same time. Time out on the floor. We're going to take one, two. We'll be back in one minute. On the home of the Bears, B99.3. Life is complicated. But money doesn't have to be. As the Bears have a 57-39 lead, this is their largest lead of the night. 18 points, 9.08 to go in the contest, and the Falcons taking a timeout. Coach Jagello's squad coming in here at 2-0 and really finding it tough to score points against this Bears defense. Score was 40-23 at halftime. Bears have scored 17, and the Falcons have scored 16. And taking one extra step with the ball is going to be McCormick. Going to be a turnover back to Bondwell. So you know they're going to work on that. They have had—I don't have the stat on turnovers. Maybe Coach Kopp will be able to give it to us. But that's the Falcons. It's got to be at least 15 turnovers right now. And when you turn the ball over that many times, you give your opponent that many more scoring opportunities. And the Bears have made the most of those turnovers here tonight as they're running the weave, taking some time off the clock. Eight and a half minutes. Here's Weyer underneath. Gets it knocked out of his hands by Cohen. And it'll go back to the Bears as it hit the baseline. If you haven't been in this new gymnasium yet, folks, come on down. There's a lot of room. The baseline has got to be about, I don't know, 15 feet to the wall from where the out-of-bounds line is under the basket. You don't find that in too many gymnasiums. So the backdrop. Nice entry pass in. That's going to be a shot by Wiesenberg up off the glass and in. Bears to a 20-point lead, 59-39. Last time we had an update, Amy Zernike said that the girls were leading by the score of, let's see, 28-8 in favor of the Bears. So we'll see if we can get some more updates as we go along. And it was 28-8 at halftime. That's what it was. Over from Peshtigo as the girls are on the road tonight. Boys at home. The boys will be back home Friday night. Here's a nice drive inside by Cohen. Puts it up off the glass and in. And that's 11 points for Spencer Cohen. 59-41, 7.40 to go. Talkin' looking. Oh, boy. Driving to the basket, Charlie Talkin. I was going to say, look at that. Driving to the basket, Charlie Talkin. I was going to say, looking for his first two points. And he had two defenders on him, but Charlie attacked. Both Talkins was able to draw the contact. Puts it up and in. And that'll be a foul on Colton Vanderlaan. Talkin's free throw off the back of the iron. So Charlie with two points on the night. Bears back to a 20-point lead, 7 1⁄2 minutes to go. CWC East action. And the Falcons throw it out of bounds. Heads up, way up in the stands. Heads up, Mr. Johnson. And Mr. Hump, our bus driver. The bus driver, substitute teacher, and he was officiating the JV2 game tonight. Mr. Tim Hump. Always loves tuning in to B99.3, the home of the Bears. An all-around utility man. And a very nice guy. Talkin, into the paint once again. Out to Wiesenberg. Now Quinn fires up a three off the front of the iron, rebounded by the Falcons. Bears leading 61-41. Now we're just under seven minutes to go here in the second half from Bondwell High School. Give you an update on the girls' game as soon as we get it. Scooping, running one-hander on the other end, driving to the basket is going to be McCormick. And he couldn't get it to go, but he'll go to the follow line for two. McCormick, 5'11", freshman, makes his first free throw. And he'll get a second. As McCormick looks at the basket, the second one is up and in. Nice free throw shooting from the freshman. 61-43 in favor of the Bears. On a nice farm December night. And it's things heated up inside this gymnasium. There's Hartman to the basket. Can't get it to go. Brody gets his own rebound. Over to Talkin. Back to Ann Belink for three off the back of the iron. High flying in the air is Johnson. Johnson out to Talkin. And he's beyond the arc. And Charlie gets it to go. So another three by the Bears, who lead by 21. Bears can run players off the bench that shoot the three. And when they're going, watch out. Here's Weyer. Nice steal to Johnson. Up off the glass and in. Kate Johnson at 11 points in the first half. He's got his first two here in the second. 50 pass from Noah Weyer across the lane. 66-43. Cohen taking it down to Payne against Talkin. Kicks it back out to Valpouth. His shot a little bit long. Rebounded by Ann Belink. Now Ray's bringing it the other way to Johnson. Johnson launches up a three. Gets fouled. No call. As he ends up on the floor. Heading the other way is going to be Glodowski. Glodowski gets his pass taken away by Johnson. Coming the other way. Up off the glass and in. Kate Johnson. Great anticipation on the Glodowski pass. And Kate's got 15 points on the night. And the Bears are out to a 25-point lead. 5-11 to go in this contest. And I'm sure we'll see a number of the reserves coming into the game here pretty soon. As Cohen has it. Takes it into the lane and lays it up for the Rainmaker running one-hander. Cohen's got eight points here in the second half for the Falcons. Giving them 13 on the night. 68-45. And Weyer. Bears don't necessarily need to shoot it, but Weyer was left wide open. He'll drive it into the lane and get fouled on his way in. So, we'll say at two points. I didn't know if they were going to call that on the ground or on his way to the basket. As Weyer heads to the line for two. Noah's got 16 on the night. To lead the Bears. And he'll make it. Oh, oh. Rolled around. There I go. I jinxed him. He wouldn't have said anything and it would have went in. Noah had 18 points. In the first game against St. Mary Catholic, he's got 16 here tonight. And make it. Nope. Stays at 16. Missed both free throws. So, four and a half minutes to go. The Bears lead 68-45. Falcons basketball. Trying to get it inside. Gets it tapped out. And into the hands of Perkins. Perkins back to Cohen. Deep in the corner. They'll launch up a three. Weyer with the rebound underneath. Three Falcons. Knock it out of his hands. And they'll score the basket. That's Vanderlaan. He gets his second basket of the night. Tauken coming the other way to end the length. Now Race looks inside. Gets it back out to Marguloski. Bears running the weave once again as Tauken goes the other way. Back to the left. Just looking to see if they can get the Falcon defense to overextend. And they do as Weyer knocks down a three. Noah Weyer left wide open. And now he's got 19 points. So, his scoring average will be going up. He had 18 the first game. He's got 19 here tonight. Bears lead 71-47. And we'll see if we can get an update on the girls' game as the Falcons get it tapped out of their hands by Hartman. Hartman to Tauken. Gets it up to Weyer. Weyer. Wow. Bullet pass across the court to Marguloski. Tried to thread the needle but got it knocked out of bounds. And Springborn comes back into the game. The Bears have played at the same pace all night. Back into the game to the end. And they'll have it out of bounds on the baseline underneath their own basket. Marguloski into Hartman. Off the glass. Can't get it to go. Falcons going the other way now. Perkins. He'll slow the offense down a little bit. Three minutes to go in this opening CWC East conference action between the Amherst Falcons and the Urbondwell Bears. Deep in the left corner now, Falcons basketball. Bears still playing great defense. Two minutes and 45 seconds and they're running time off the clock as they do get it inside. They were looking for a good shot and that's what teams do that are well coached. They know that this game is over for all practical purposes other than the clock, 71-47. But you still have to work on fundamentals. Amherst looked for a good shot there, just couldn't get it to go. Bears basketball. Now Marguloski to Talkin. Bears going to take some time off the clock as Talkin has it all the way up on the Bear logo by the midcourt stripe. Here's Marguloski. He'll bring it back. Now gets it out to Springborn. Owen over to Weyer. And Coach Kopp bringing some players off the bench. Maybe he'll take a timeout. We'll see. Hartman gets it inside. Talkin knocks it down. Charlie Talkin gets his second three and Coach Kopp quickly calls a timeout. This will just be a substitution timeout as both coaches emptying their benches in a great show of sportsmanship as coaches do when the lead is that much, 74-47 in favor of the Bears. So it looks like we'll have Wiesenberg, Anderlecht, Kate Johnson-Roberts, and Mason Zulliger coming into the contest for his first action. So Zulliger, number 25, he checks in. Mason is a, let's see, what do they have him listed at here, a 6'1", junior. And it looks like we've got an update from Amy Zernike over at the girls game, winning 56-17 with 5 1⁄2 minutes to go over in Peshtigo. So the girls are going to run their record to one more victory. And that's good news as they'll be above 500 now. Two non-conference losses to Xavier and St. Mary Catholic before picking up a victory against Menominee Indian. And also against Peshtigo here tonight as Johnson comes quickly the other way, adds to his scoring total, 76-47 with 1 16 to go in this contest. Falcons bringing it the other way. They'll pass it to double zero, Mo Diedrich, a 6'4", senior. His shot a little bit long as Hartman checks back into the game. Now Johnson coming out. So both coaches getting all of their players into the game here tonight. As the Falcons and Falcon fans, thank you for tuning in. Teams played hard. It's just a run up against the Bears team that was awfully hot here tonight. They were good and still are going as 55.3 seconds to go here in this contest. And Wiesenberg will now take the point guard position as Brody Hartman checked into the game. And the link to Hartman. Brody back to Wiesenberg. Quinn takes a few dribbles out now with the left hand. Tries to split the defenders. Gets it out to and the link. Bears running time off the clock looking for a good shot. Let's see if Zuliger takes one. He can drive it down in the paint. Left-handed ball player gets it over to Wiesenberg. Now 25 seconds, 76-47. This one has been in the hands of the Bears since about midway through that first half. And they've never looked back. Now they're just going to dribble this one out. As there's 11 seconds on the clock. And the link. He'll hold the basketball. Bears fans on their feet cheering. The cheerleaders are cheering. And it's been a great night for Bondiwell basketball as it'll be a clean sweep. Final score is Bondiwell 76 and Amherst 47. So as the teams shake hands and the officials leave the court, we're going to send it back to the station. As we add up the stats for two minutes on the home of the Bears, V99.3. Wishing the Bondiwell Bears a great sports season. Back to Bondiwell Bears basketball on B99.3. Alright, welcome back to Bondiwell High School as we're here with victorious coach Duke Copp as the Bears have been a great night for the Bears. The JV team won, the varsity team won, and the girls are really up 56-17 over in Peshtigo. So it's a great night to be a Bear coach. Tell us about the team's performance tonight. Oh, I'm really proud of the kids tonight. We just challenged them to compete, play harder than they ever have in their lives and they came out and we had to prove, you know, we've been picked to win the conference and, you know, we thought we needed to go make a statement. And without a big guy, we needed to prove to ourselves, I think, that we can play like this and I'm really happy the way we played. We had seven players in the scoring column. I'm sure all of our players could have scored if we wanted to, but it was the defense that really impressed me tonight. They talked about the number of turnovers that your team forced and kept their team from getting into the paint for basically the entire night. Yeah, I mean, we challenged them to a lot of ball pressure and we're picking up full court a little more this year. And we have the kids that can do that. We got a few steals off of that and that just energizes everyone. You held one of their leading scorers to four points, only one Amherst player in double figures. While you look at over here, we have 19, 17, 16, and 16 three-pointers. That's by my math. That's unofficial, coach, but that's a lot of threes made for a team. That's a lot of them. And we made a few more tonight than we did last Tuesday, so that's nice. Well, we're home again on Friday night. Wittenberg, Burnham, Wood, what can you tell us about them? They're tough. I mean, they're picked right behind us and they're just athletic. We just need to come and play. All right, we'll let you get over to the team. And we've got another guest here, Cade Johnson from the victorious Mondwell Bears. Cade, it was a game of not so much like St. Mary Catholic where it was back and forth. This one was tied 5-5 and then you guys just went off on them. Yeah, we really turned on the defense side on defense and we worked our butts off. We come to practice every single day. We're playing defense. No one's going to score on us. We're going to play defense the whole way. Then our team's going to hit shots. We talked about the connection between you and Noah on the football field. We saw that several times here today. What is it like playing with a veteran guard like Noah Weier? He's a great leader. I mean, I look up to him. Everybody looks up to him. He really makes everybody work hard. There's no dull practice with him. He's going to push you to the highest. Between you and Colin, you know, kind of pick your poison. If you're another team trying to defend us, if you're a double-team Weier, one of you is going to be open. We always say if there's a double team, somebody's open. But Colin Marguloski has really come along, too. I mean, all of your teammates here that got on the floor. But that connection between you, Noah, and Colin, that's very hard to defend. Yeah, we work in the summer, you know. The football field, any field, baseball field, basketball court, we're there. We play hard. Three sport athletes. That's what we're talking about. So it's Tuesday, and we've got school tomorrow. So I'm going to let you get going so you can get out of here and eat something and get to school. So we will see you back here on Friday night. Yes, sir. Thank you, Coach. All right, that's Gabe Johnson from the victorious Bondwell Bears. We're asking Coach Kopp and Coach Rehnke to bring a player so that we can interview him after the game, and we appreciate doing that. As we run down the scoring here for the Falcons, they were led by Spencer Cohen. He had 13 points. Sully Perkins had – excuse me, Jack Seeger also had 13. Sully Perkins with seven. Jaron Alputh and Colton Vanderlaan with four points apiece. Parker Soulsby had three. And Taylor McCormick with two. The Falcons were three for four from the free-throw line. For the Bears, they were led by Noah Weyer with 19 points. Kate Johnson, our guest on the postgame, had 17. Colin Marguloski had 16. Charlie Towkin and Quinn Weisenberg with eight points apiece. And Ray Sandlink had six. Sam Roberts with two. So the Bears even up their record at one and one, and on 16 three-pointers. We've got to thank once again all of our sponsors, the School District of Bondwell, St. Paul Lutheran School, Reiser Insurance Agency, Zernike's Landstad Dairy, Nichols Paper Products, Bondwell State Bank, and Highway 29 Auto. The girls were leading 56-17 with five and a half minutes to go. So great job by our girls' basketball team. And the boys, the JV team, wins here tonight by the score of 58-34. The varsity team wins 76-47. So once again, your final score, Bondwell 76 and Amherst 47. You've been listening to Bears High School Basketball on the home of the Bears, B99.3. I'm Brad Gravelden for Tom Back at the Station. Thanks for joining us, and we'll be back here on Friday night as the Chargers come here from Wittenberg-Burnhamwood. We'll see you Friday.
