The speaker recalls their first soccer game at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum when they were two years old. They went with their family to watch their favorite team, Clo-America, play against River Plate. They took the bus because they didn't have a car. The speaker remembers the smell of hot dog stands and the sea of yellow and blue, the colors of their family's team. They felt overwhelmed by the large crowd and noise of drums and trumpets. They hid their head in their mom's arms, but when their team scored a goal, their mom encouraged them to celebrate. This moment made the speaker fall in love with the sport, although they now prefer watching games at home. When I was two years old, my parents took me and my brother to our first ever soccer game at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. It was a match featuring my family's favorite team, Clo-America from Mexico, playing against River Plate from Argentina. I recall my family taking the bus to get to the game because we didn't have a car at the time. I can still smell the scent from the hot dog stands and can still picture the sea of yellow and blue around the stadium due to those being the colors of my family's team. I felt overwhelmed by it because it was my first time ever being surrounded by that many people in such a gigantic space with so many noises from drums and trumpets. I ended up hiding my head within my mom's arms because I couldn't handle all the noise. It wasn't until our team scored the first goal of the game that I got spooked by so many people yelling which led to my mom to pick my head up and encourage me to yell out goal and celebration. At that moment, it all kind of clicked and I started to feel more comfortable with my surroundings and started to enjoy what I was watching. This one moment led me to fall in love with the sport from then on and want to go to as many games as possible, but while I still love the game very much, sometimes I would rather watch it from the comfort of my own home.
