Inspired by the Prelude to Longfellow's epic poem, Evangeline. This piece is based almost entirely on the horn call and answer presented at the very beginning. Longfellow's poem begins with a description of the virgin forest surrounding the small village of Grande Pre. I have attempted to capture the majestic and brooding silence of that great forest.
