The speaker explains the importance of understanding the significance of a project in the nursing profession. They emphasize the need to provide background information and definitions for a general audience, not just healthcare professionals. It is crucial to convey why the topic is important and why nurses should care about it. So when anybody undertakes a new project, they want to know why is this important? What does this have to do with the nursing profession and why should nurses care about this project? So I want to give you a little background about our topic and let you know why we selected this project topic so that you would have some background understanding before we dive into the rest of our podcast. And so at this point, I would go through why we selected this project, I would talk about some background information about my topic, including if there are any definitions that need to be given so that your audience understands what you're talking about for the rest of the presentation. Specifically, remember, while nurses, of course, will be the main audience listening to this, you may have people who are not trained in health care medicine, so make sure you use language that would be appropriate for a lay person as well. Also make sure you hone in on the significance of this topic to the nursing profession so that way your listeners will understand why is this important and significant and why should we care basically.
