The host, Mookie, starts the podcast with a prayer and introduces Rod Wave, a Soul Trap artist. They discuss Rod Wave's music style and his album "Nostalgia." They plan a listening party to rate the songs. Mookie shares his personal connection to Rod Wave's music and how it helped him during his college years. They end the podcast by thanking the listeners and encouraging them to be the influence. Welcome to the Be The Influence Podcast with your host, the one and only Mookie, that's me. Hope everyone is having a fantastic day, and you know, before we start every day, we gotta start off with a prayer. So, Lord, I just wanna say thank you for this day, Lord, thank you for allowing us to be here, Lord, to see this day, Lord, I just pray that you bless everyone that's here listening to this podcast, Lord, but be with me, Lord, so I can give them the entertainment that they are looking for, Lord, just be with all of us, Lord, thank you for everything you've done for us, Lord, in your name we pray, amen. So that song you just heard was Nostalgia by Rod Wave, his new album, Nostalgia. So Rod Wave has actually been one of my favorite artists for a very long time, Rodarius Marcel Green is his real name, but he has his own unique style, his own unique sound when it comes to music, Soul Trap is what they call it, it's basically just R&B music mixed with a little rap music, mixed with a little hip-hop, you know, things of that sort, but he released his first studio album, Ghetto Gospel, in 2019, he's been killing the game ever since, shout out to Rod Wave, man, he lets his fans know his personal life, you know, through his music and everything, you know, but I'm pretty sure he's helped a lot of us get through what it is that we need to get through, so shout out to Rod Wave, so with that being said, today we're going to have a Rod Wave listening party! So what I'm going to do is I'm going to play five songs from Rod Wave's newest album, Nostalgia, and we are going to listen to those songs and we are going to rate them from the best to the least favorite, alright, so let's get it started, here we go, the first song is Turks and Caicos, let's hear it! left my hotel in two days I feel sick without you Sick without you My stomach do this turnin' I feel sick without you My closest friend, my worst enemy I'm not okay when we're apart but I pretend to be fine I threw the party of the century and people came over and no one else saw and it was all for you it was all for you I've been runnin' this ride for so long don't let the world reach close the door don't let the world reach so I can see why I've been hearing a lot about this song I like it I threw the party of the century yeah, yeah, yeah but uh comment what you think about it in the chat let's go last song right here Boys Don't Cry let's hear it Boys Don't Cry by Boyz II Men they used to say that I'll never be the same again never fall in love again my heart is on the shelf my music's full of fame but I keep my problems to myself and I keep my mouth closed cause my thoughts sometimes can get too deep my heart's cold my eyes closed but I never go to sleep I've been all alone goin' on two weeks me, myself, and my sheets but it made me feel we needed one hey right, man oh, oh you know my heart's cold my eyes closed but I never go to sleep man, right you know what you're talking about right there so those are all the songs we have right there those five songs so really quick I'm gonna give y'all a second to go in and um so we can rate those songs one through five let's go give y'all a second to do that real quick but man hey, right away, man I appreciate this album I'm not gonna lie cause you just hit every time I'm gonna go in in a little bit after we uh rate these songs put these songs in order about uh how Broadway has influenced me in my life but uh really quick top songs put them in order right now let's see at number five it looks like we have Turks and Caicos at number five okay okay I would put Turks I would put Turks and Caicos at five too I'm gonna be honest I'll put it at five too at four y'all say come see me at four uh okay I'll put I'll put come see me at four too I'll put come see me come see me at four which y'all got at three at three crazy I think y'all got me on that one too I got crazy at three also I think these next two awards gonna get a little get a little different for us let's see I got Boys Don't Cry at two I think I'm gonna have to disagree with that one I got Boys Don't Cry at one Greg Gatsby at two I got Greg Gatsby at one but it's close though it's close but appreciate y'all for doing the writing with me on those Broadway songs top five songs but uh I've been listening to Broadway since the beginning since like since he first started man like me uh at first when I started listening to him it wasn't about the feelings the depressed the depressing feelings that everybody talk about now like it was really just like good music that I could listen to you know but like through time you know through life you know as I got in college you know going through depression and everything listening to Broadway music was actually pretty helpful to me like you know people say that a lot of depressing stuff and people that listen to his music are depressed at the time of my college years I was depressed at the time but his music was helping me but now the stage I am now I'm not depressed I'm in a very good place in my life I feel like and I still listen to Broadway music just because it's like it's good music like you just can't argue with good music so I just feel like his music is just something that you can listen to no matter what mindset you're in it'll help you get through a lot but uh yep that's all we have for today guys I know the sad part sad saddest part about this podcast is when it's over cause you know I'm just I'm just great like that but you know I hope you all enjoyed the podcast today appreciate y'all for getting down with the Rod Wave you know shout out to Rod Wave again man don't forget to send in your thoughts your ideas and whatever music you want to talk about on the next next
