The speaker discusses various scenes and moments from the TV show Stranger Things. They mention jump scares, character development, emotional moments, and their likes and dislikes about certain characters and plotlines. They also appreciate the show's historical context and its portrayal of the 80s. Overall, they express their enjoyment of the show and their excitement for future episodes. like just just not even the whole scene but like he's he's writing home alone and he's in the light starts to flicker and he like he starts shaking it he looks down and then he looks back up and there's the Demogorgon and it's just such an unexpected jump scare and it goes so hard I hate another one of my parts I think is Shepard's part where he goes into the portal and then he gets eaten. Wait, Shepard? Nobody else knows his name. He's the dude in the yellow suit with like the lights and they have the cable and it's attached to his head. Oh, that's right. And Dr. Brenner calls him son, he's like good luck in there son. Crazy old guy. But yeah, the first season is full of such good moments. I also love just as a general rule because it's cool in the third season where they're seeing the Mind Flayer proxy form on the path and there's all the fireworks and we get the trees are moving song playing and it's all like it looks and then you know it breaks open the roof and she splits its face open. Very cool. I love the part where like Joyce and Hopper go into the Upside Down to look for Will and I like the part where they find him and there's just like this emotional like like you've had this wait the whole season with him being gone and then it's like lifted and and Joyce being able to find her son and I also I don't know why but I love the fact that they had like a full-on funeral for Will like that drama just making it like more like. I think one of my favorite parts about Joyce and Hopper going into the Upside Down was how they then tied that into Hopper's past and they revealed you know. Oh yeah. His daughter. It's really sad. It's so sad. Good character development. Yeah. Yeah I love Hopper. Hopper's so great. He's so funny too. He's breaking into the morgue and there's that guy and he's like oh yeah you know I've come with the O'Bannon and he's like I don't work with O'Bannon. He's like oh okay. Yeah that whole thing with the dead body. I know like he's cutting it open. I'm trying to think honestly I like don't remember the fourth season too well. I do like the third season. Okay one thing I hate about the fourth season is like how hippie everyone turns into like Jonathan just takes a turn for the worse. He does. He is awful. I like Jonathan basically up to that point. I'm glad you agree. He's such a druggie and wallowing in self-pity and his and Nancy's relationship. I like his friend though Argyle. Oh I hate him. He's always high. I love Max though. Max is super good. I one of the biggest I think sorry not to derail the conversation. I also there's a huge love-hate relationship with Billy though. Oh you're joking. Okay first off he's the only guy who can pull off a mullet, a mustache, and earrings. I think I know like anybody else tries that they're ugly but like he pulls it off so good. I mean he's not bad-looking but he's rotten. Yes he's very a big jerk. His relationship with Steve is also kind of interesting. It is interesting. Because he's like mean. Also like giving pointers at the same time. I don't know and I feel like in the later episodes I can't remember if the second season or the third season but they like try and like explain why he's like that with like his abusive dad. But honestly like I still can't give a crap. Like he's still awful. He's still so rotten. And to Max like he could be a cycle breaker and he chooses not to. Yeah he's also the one that had to live with his dad for his entire life. Max only got his dad, her dad, whatever. Philosophical, not philosophical, psychological. He probably picks on Max because he feels that she hasn't experienced the same thing as he has. So for sure he wants her to feel the same way that he did and does. But anyway yeah he's a big jerk. I do like him for that split second and the third season when he dies. I can't like him then. He's so awful. Like nothing he does. I don't know. Like I feel like you're supposed to like feel conflicted but I just hate him. I can't feel conflicted. He's definitely designed to be hated. Yeah. Another one of the great moments probably like one of the greatest suspenseful things was the part in the second season where all the demo dogs have gotten loose and so Sam, I think that's his name, Sam Owens, Dr. Sam, Dr. Owens who's great by the way. I love him. He's like trying to get down to the into the computer or I think that was Bob. They're all trying to get out of a lab and it's like super quiet and you just know that they're gonna be demo dogs running around and also I hate how Bob died. Oh my gosh it was so awful. Honestly it sort of makes sense because I feel like a lot of shows that are like this you either are killing off characters willy nilly or you're not and it doesn't feel like it's a big threat so when you take this lovable guy who's doing his best and failing a lot of time but he he really does love Joyce and he really like he goes crazy and he you know he's hacking into this computer while all these freaking eldritch demons are running around the lab you know and you kill him off then it's definitely like yeah this is a big threat and then he dies and you're just like yeah okay we get it. That definitely is another emotional one. Honestly I feel like honestly unpopular opinion but I just don't feel like he like was good for their family. Like he loved Joyce and he's like tried his best but they went through so much that like I don't remember if they ever told him what happened to Will. I mean I don't know either I would assume that they would have like they would yeah because or just like surface level I don't know but I just feel like I don't know. I definitely yeah but I feel like it's not from lack of trying. No no no and he and everybody else is trying too but I think he's definitely trying the hardest and he's so great. He's very full of charm. I know that was a good good choice A good casting. Do you know that Finn Wolfhard and Maya Hawks both are in a band? Yes. Yeah. Isn't Maya Hawks Robin? Yes I love Robin. Robin's great. I love her. She's such a good actress. I just love her. That's another one. That's another character. I love the third season introducing all those new characters. Max and Elle's relationship. I do like the third season. Also the monsters. Not so much that. Made of human flesh. The fireworks. I do like the setting in the mall. I also love going back so look I mean I'm in this world history class and learning about the cold war and all the soviets. It's very interesting to then come back and see this in the historical context and being like oh yeah they're mentioning Russians all the time. They're all being like you know there's the dad Ted and he's like don't worry we're all and then also the third season with all the Russian secret experience. Oh that's awesome. And talking about how you know if the soviets knew about our mistake like would they even see it as a mistake? Right. Because it's just top secret. Everything can be used as a weapon. Yeah they did a really good job because I don't remember I think it's the first season came out in 2000 maybe 13. I'm not sure. I don't know. I know one of them came out in 2017 and then 2019. Yeah. And then I think whatever. But they do such a good job with like the 80s. They do. It's setting with the clothes and the environment and the music and everything. Yeah. Yeah. Anyways that's all the questions I have today. Thanks for joining us on this week's episode of Movies and Me. Don't forget to subscribe to this podcast and we'll see you next week. Bye. you
