Actually I got two of my brothers that own KIA So I'm really worried about that Do you feel like you're going to be a victim to this trend slash crime? I'm not sure about that but I hope not I hope so too Do you feel like these students slash young adults are being punished for the crimes they're committing And the attention that they're attracting by doing these things I don't think so The more we see it happening, we're getting more attention from people Which is encouraging them to actually do more stuff Which I think that needs to stop I definitely agree with that Have you seen the Milwaukee video posted by a YouTuber? One of the things they brought up was They said it's your fault if you don't move While they're joyriding and speeding and doing these things Do you feel like that alone should give them time once they're caught or if they're caught? Can you repeat that question one more time? I said do you feel like they should be prosecuted or should be charged for the crimes they commit? Of course Go on, go on I think they should They're damaging property and literally just annoying people at this moment It's just annoying to hear about it It is pretty annoying to hear about it Today I'm here with my good friend Nicole Hey Nicole Hi How are you doing today? I'm doing good, how are you? I'm doing great As we were talking earlier How did you feel about the Kia Boys trend going viral? And how did you feel when your teacher was a victim to this crime or trend? I was really disappointed in seeing those kids engage in such activities at this age Yeah, it's pretty sad Did you know that in the past year there has been 300 plus thousands of Hyundais and Kias being stolen in and around the United States? In the past year only? Woah, that's a new thing I just heard because it's very disappointing to hear all that Yeah, it's pretty sad Do you have any family members who own Hyundais and Kias? Yeah, my two brothers, they both own Kias So I'm really scared Oh, that is pretty scary How do you feel when, like, how do you feel living with, like, do you have any, do you feel scared? Do you have any like trauma? Yeah, it's very scary Just to know that one day you might be one of the victims Yeah, it is pretty sad But thank you for talking Do you feel like these teens should be prosecuted or should face time in jail for the crimes or for the theft that they commit? Yeah, I think there should be consequences for their actions or else they will be repeatedly doing the same thing if they don't Yeah, that is what the King County Sheriff's have been saying as well And yeah, it is pretty sad seeing students who are in their teens, not even 18 or above But the Washington law is that as a student, I mean as a teen is not above 18 The crimes that they commit will be forgiven as soon as they turn 18 So most of the cars are being stolen with the same motive that they are going to be released within a week or so So do you feel like the police and King County Sheriff's should be more harsh on these laws? Yeah, I think they should change it up because it doesn't seem like it is getting any better And just knowing that they are not going to get in trouble for what they are doing, they are going to keep doing it Yeah, it is pretty sad 85% increase in car theft this year compared to last year Perhaps what is even more disturbing, this is a TikTok trend Why are TikTok and Instagram and other social media platforms allowing these trends to go viral? And Nicole, how do you think we should avoid these trends from going viral and how do we stop them? I think when we don't give them attention, they are not going to post anything like that And I think the social media itself should not allow these kinds of videos to go public I know I do think that these videos are alarming because of how much attention they are receiving from people around the world But I can't blame them. If one video goes viral, it is more attention that they get and more reposts and more likes that they get And I feel like it is just going to continue the trend But thank you for talking on my podcast and thank you for taking your time to speak to me Of course
