The speaker encourages their son to express feelings, especially when sad, but also wants him to be strong as he may be responsible for the family in the future. They prefer him to be tougher than girls and are stricter with him compared to the girls. So I do encourage my son to express his feelings, especially when he's feeling sad or something that's painful to him, but in my particular case, I do still encourage him to be a little bit strong. I do feel like he's going to be responsible for our family someday, so I do want to encourage him to probably be a little bit stronger than I am to the girls. I do like him being a little bit tougher than them, and I am actually tougher on him than I am to the girls.
