The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is a separatist organization in Nigeria that campaigns for the secession of the former Eastern Region—predominantly inhabited by the Igbo ethnic group—to create an independent state of Biafra. Founded in 2012 by British-Nigerian political activist Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB has become the largest and most prominent Biafran independence movement.
