F - Twin Buffalo Rocks

Sacajewea’s people identified landmarks and used them in stories long before Lewis and Clark came to this area. Twin Buffalo Rocks were not known to the Corps of Discovery and not mentioned in journals. The location is about one day’s travel from Camp Fortunate on horseback, which made it a convenient rest stop on the Buffalo Road for the Shoshone. This is where most of the buffalo hunts began. They served then and now as directional landmarks along what was once an Indian trail.
