C - Lemhi Pass East

We welcome you enter another world here on this grassy mountain top surrounded by untrammeled forest in the Lemhi Mountains of Idaho. Long before European contact, this was a “crossing over point” for the Northern Shoshone, Sacjawea’s people, who refer to themselves as Wihi’Nites,” or “the people of knife’s edge,” which refers to the ridge line of the Continental Divide here in the Beaverhead Mountains. For many generations this was a well-traveled crossing through rugged country.
