Gregor's defense team is arguing that Corey's cause of death was sepsis from pneumonia, not abuse. They are focusing on the initial autopsy report that showed inflammation and sepsis in addition to blunt force injuries. However, two doctors who saw Corey the night before his death said his blood tests were normal and there was no sign of infection, except for the bruises. Gregor's defense team has focused on Corey's initial autopsy which concluded that in addition to blunt force injuries, the boy had acute inflammation and sepsis. Gregor's lawyer Mario Gallucci says that his medical experts will testify that Corey died of sepsis caused by a bout of pneumonia, not abuse. However, the two doctors who saw Corey the night before his death say the boy's blood tests came back normal. There was no indication of infection and Corey was fine except for his bruises.
