The Yankees used to be a dominant team in Major League Baseball. In 1955, a musical was created based on a novel called The Year the Yankees Lost the Pennant. The story revolves around a smooth-talking character, Applegate, who wants to seduce Shoeless Joe from Hannibal Moe. Lola, a skilled home wrecker, helps Applegate in his plan. Those damn Yankees. There was a time when they dominated Major League Baseball. And, in 1955, the team of Richard Alder, Jerry Ross, George Abbott, and Douglas Wallop created the musical based on Wallop's novel, The Year the Yankees Lost the Pennant. The smooth-talking antagonist, Applegate, calls up Papan Lova, the best home wrecker on his staff, to seduce the unsuspecting Shoeless Joe from Hannibal Moe. And, as you are about to see, whatever Lola wants, Lola gets.
