Posting this via PianoWorld Forum PM also. Focusrite sent me a free plugin from Sonnox called "Soften." It's intended to remove harsh and shrill tones. I think it works very well. The Omni had that magical sound, a charisma that involves its deep frequency reach, even with the soundstage not matching the cardioid.

I posted the omni recording on Reddit, and the first and only comment was that it sounded like it was recorded in a closet. The omni recording, in general, got relatively little engagement compared to the cardioid recording, even though they were posted at the same time in the same sub. (Edit: both Reddit postings I'm referring to here were AKGs.)

Hi, your 414 Cardioid was a great victory in center; the Omni didn’t capture that. The geometry for the cardioid had the magic sauce. I am hoping you might explore that. The Soyuz’s to me doesn’t have the beauty of the 414’s. I did apply some inverse eq, anti Akg’s builtin presence peak. It has little smoother 3k-7k. I’ll work on the Soyuz tomorrow and get something posted tomorrow afternoon CST.

Can't reply to your forum PM. Banned until June 10 for replying to a personal attack with the words, "drama queen," and supposed "repeated attacks" of my own. I don't abide people who lack reading comprehension and other fools well. Anyway, this sounds nice. The only thing I don't like about the omni in my home is its imprecision.
