H. L. Mencken
H.L. Mencken, born on September 12, 1880, was a prominent American writer and intellectual. He worked as a journalist, magazine editor, satirist, and critic, and also had a deep knowledge of American English. He was famously known as the "Sage of Baltimore" and is considered to be one of the most influential writers and prose stylists of the first half of the twentieth century. His books continue to be popular and are still in print.
