You can call these two jam sessions 'drone sessions' because they pick up a beat and just riff off of it in a jagged-edged psychedelic style as only the V.U. could. This is what they were like pre-first L.P., playing for "happenings" mainly in Greenwich Village, to a crowd that was high out of their minds. Decent quality audience style recording, clear enough to hear all of the action but primitive enough to let you know that its 1966 underground. Short Cale-Reed NYC radio interview at the end.
