Nothing to say, yet
Hamas committed horrific acts of violence, killing and injuring many Israelis and taking hostages. Their supporters, including some in Canada, celebrated these atrocities. The scenes of people cheering and celebrating in Mississauga were abhorrent, glorifying the murder of children. These demonstrations cannot be ignored, as there is no room for tolerance of an ideology that celebrates the slaughter of Jews. Freedom of speech and the right to protest have limits, and publicly celebrating murder or promoting hatred towards an ethnic group is not included. Those involved in this celebration should be arrested, charged with hate crimes, and deported. Denouncing ideas is one thing, but celebrating the extermination of a people is another. Hello, my name is Gordon Wilson, and here is my commentary. Hamas proved it has no interest in peaceful tomorrows when its terrorists slaughtered 900 Israelis and injured thousands more, and took hundreds of hostages back into Gaza in an unprovoked and horrific rampage, supposedly in the name of liberation. Hamas killed entire families, slit people's throats, raped, butchered, and paraded young women's bodies in the public square. And around the globe, its supporters and apologists cheered, including, sickeningly, some here in Canada. How could anyone living in Canada celebrate such atrocities? It's highly unlikely anyone who has grown up in Canada would, although allowances have to be made for those weak of morals who could possibly be radicalized. The scenes that played out on Saturday night in Mississauga, with joyous crowds cheering and honking horns, as if their team had just won the World Cup, were abhorrent. This was the glorification of the mass murder of children, such as 40 dead babies discovered at the Kfar Azraq kibbutz in southern Israel. This was a celebration of Hamas' deliberate and systematic targeting of civilians to kill as many as possible. It's unlikely that any involved in these demonstrations lived their 400 years here in Canada. They brought their tribal hatred with them when they immigrated into Canada. Such demonstrations cannot be looked upon with indifference. There is no room for tolerance of an ideology that celebrates unprovoked slaughter of Jews. Just little would it take for these celebrants to move to emulating these actions against Jews here in Canada. I am a strong advocate for freedom of speech and the right to protest, but there is no such thing as absolute freedom. These freedoms do not include the freedom to publicly celebrate murder or advance hatred toward an ethnic group. Those who were involved in this celebration need to be arrested and charged with hate crimes and deported back to where they came from. It's one thing to denounce ideas. It's quite another to denounce a people and celebrate their extermination. Well those are my thoughts. If you disagree or agree, you can get a hold of me by sending an email to gawilsonatlive.ca.
