George Eliot, born Mary Anne Evans on November 22, 1819, was a prominent English novelist, journalist, and translator during the Victorian era. She authored seven novels, such as Adam Bede, The Mill on the Floss, Silas Marner, Middlemarch, and Daniel Deronda. Her novels were mostly set in provincial England and were widely known for their realism and psychological insight.
