The speaker talks about their experiences in New York City, including visiting tourist spots like Coney Island, the 9-11 Museum, and Staten Island. They also mention the cultural and historical aspects of the city, such as jazz bars and The Edge observatory deck. The speaker recommends visiting Central Park and trying out popular food spots like Din Tai Fung, Kat's Deli, and Lombardi's Pizza. They express a desire to visit New York during Christmas time and experience the nightlife as an adult. So New York City, one of the top destination places in the United States, I originally went in my freshman year of high school. It was definitely one of my favorite places in the United States and I never visited it. We went to Coney Island, the 9-11 Museum, Staten Island, definitely the more touristy spots. And I definitely would say visiting those was a top priority when we went there, especially Coney Island. When we drove there, it was like an hour drive I think from the city, there's like roller coasters, roller go food stops, like on the beach, and that was definitely a spot that I would recommend to people that have never been to New York. That sounds like so much fun. Yeah, I think the reason I love New York so much is because there's so much culture and history in the city and I feel like it's still the same city that it was like 50 years ago, if that makes sense. You still get that 50s, 60s vibe to it with all the jazz music and just how the city feels when you're there, the nightlife. I think that's why I love it so much. Some of my top places that I went to, a jazz bar. I went to a jazz bar for the first time and that was the top thing I wanted to do when I went. And we got recommended this one called Small Jazz Bar, which is this little underground jazz bar in Soho, I think, and it was so much fun. Just to be down there and hear the live music, it was the perfect thing to do in New York City. Other than that, I would say The Edge was one of the coolest things I've done. It's this observatory deck, but in its name, it's literally an edge hanging off the side of the building. It was kind of freaky, but it was really, really cool. Plaza Hotel, a must-go-to. You've seen Home Alone. You have to go. It just gives you that vibe, even when it's not Christmas time, you have to go check it out. Oh, absolutely. And my other one, Central Park. You've got to go to Central Park. You've got to go. Yeah. Now, I'll dive into food a little bit. As far as I'm concerned, when we went, it was a lot of street vendors. You'd look it up on the internet, top 10 places to go eat in New York, more touristy spots for sure. I do know that you mentioned that you did go to Din Tai when you were there, which is definitely a top food spot. Oh, yeah. Din Tai Fung. If you haven't been, you've got to go. You've got to go. They have it in most big cities now, but the one in New York City is super unique. It's like this small glass building when you walk up, and you're wondering where could the restaurant possibly be. There's no way it's in there. You have to take these stairs underground, and it's this huge underground restaurant. It's amazing. You have to go, and the food is just phenomenal. It's the best food you're ever going to have. That was one of my top food places there for sure. Then there's these other big places that are known, Kat's Deli. I don't know if you've heard of that. Pastrami Sandwiches. I've heard of that. It's in when Harry met Sally. It's a really popular movie spot. Delicious. You've got to go. Then Lombardi's Pizza. I believe it's the first pizzeria that ever existed in America. It's amazing. You've got to go. Those are my two or my three top food places in New York City. Now, I'm going to ask you a question. We can talk about where you want to go in New York. I know, personally, I want to go to New York. It's during Christmas time in general. It's been a bucket list. Everybody sees the Christmas tree and all the dancers and the huge festivals. Obviously, New Year's is huge in New York. It's always been a bucket list place for me, along with some of the clubs. Now that I'm 21, I want to be able to experience the nightlife as an adult and not like a 15-year-old in high school. Those were things that I would want to do if I go back. When I do go back, it's definitely a bucket list. What about you? I would completely agree. Christmas time, I feel like that's a must with New York City. Rockefeller Center, everything, all the buildings are decorated with lights, the Christmas tree. I feel like that's, for sure, a dream of mine as well. Also, being 21 now, I feel like that changes everything about the city. There's NYU there, so there's a bunch of college students. I feel like the young adult life is just there. It's so much fun. I would love to experience that too. Yeah. Let's talk about shopping and people. Oh, it's done. Okay, cool. How should we kind of— I think you cut it off at one point because you kind of paused for a second and you're like, let's talk about shopping.
