I wrote this in the early 1980s after I found Bobolinks setting up territory in a Farm Field in Butler County, Ohio, only to see it had been mowed for hay a few days later. We need to rotate and manage our farmland better to provide nesting habitat for Bobolinks, Dickcissels and other open field birds.
