Hailing from East L.A.ās Monte Sereno High teen scene, this young quartet blended reverb-soaked surf riffs with the funk and soul 45s they grew up spinning at family parties. Led by guitarist Rafa Mendez and bassist Chuy Delgado, the band carved out a distinctly rhythmic strain of garage rock that confused local booking agents but electrified school dances.
