George, in a sadistic mood, begins strangling Charlotte's company. Charlotte tries to fight back but fails. George demands them to say their goodbyes before leaving. Charlotte helps her friends up and they express their love for her. Charlotte then goes to say goodbye to Lydia and Wheatland. She tells Wheatland to get everyone to safety quickly. They all gather as the building explodes, killing everyone except Helen. Helen blames Wheatland for not stopping Charlotte. They all embrace Helen as they leave. Livia asks Wheatland how many friends they will have now, to which he replies, "We'll never know." George has tears in his eyes. His voice is vicious as he says, not how this is supposed to go. You are supposed to lose. Murdered on the battlefield, we all are supposed to claim Cora. None of them was supposed to die. You only. Looking at the company with the most bare expression. Charlotte brainstorms. Lydia chokes louder as he tightens his grip. Then George Brunt's palm, who has managed to heal herself, walks toward him. He begins strangling all of Charlotte's company. George sadistically says, mine have died unfairly. The rules no longer apply. Charlotte tries casting a fire spell, but George counters it immediately with water. Charlotte's eyes widen as she falls to her knees in desperation. He calls out, you can use wind. You can have me. As she throws her head down, he releases the others. George harshly says, say your goodbyes, then leave us. Palm now stands with him. All of them are disoriented, trying to pull themselves together. Charlotte bristles over to Helen and helps her up. Helen, coughing, mumbles, you got a plan, don't you? Seeming as if she is about to break down, she nods her head, yes. Helen hugs her tightly. Helen says, see you soon. Charlotte then goes over to James and Lee. They are trying to catch their bearings. He helps them up. They embrace her. James sorely says, make it out of this, girl. Please. Lee sorely says, counting on you. Thank you for everything. They both stare deep in her eyes. Charlotte sparkly says, name one of those cursed babies after me. We'll use. James and Lee both look at her blessing, then at another. She finally walks over to Wheatland and Lydia. She says to Lydia, bless you, child. And she kisses her on the forehead. Lydia is so awestruck by this, she just starts crying. Charlotte then turns towards Wheatland. She has a passionate smile, and her eyes twinkle with tears. Wheatland's expression is for the most part plain, yet probing. She says, when you get to the door, get them to the bottom floor as fast as you can. Out the door. I love you. She tries to form a smile, but can't, as she holds from crying. She gets up and walks over to George's home. They smile as she comes. The company sorrowfully gathers, all but Helen, who stares as she walks toward them. Lydia comes over to her and places her hand in hers. Helen looks at the child's hand in horror and shuts her eyes. She braces herself as one ready to cry, but no sound comes out as her mouth opens. Wheatland picks her up. She places her face in his chest and cries. They walk back down into the building. Wheatland begins moving at a pace. On the roof, George and Paume hug Charlotte at the same time. Charlotte's expression is one of misery. As they stop hugging, Paume says, I'll allow you to get reacquainted while I lock the door behind your pass. As she moves toward Charlotte, George holds her hand and says, my dear Cor, how I have longed for this day. What will you have us to do to take our mind off earlier? As he stares deep into her eyes, she appears appalled, slowly shaking her head. Charlotte sorrowfully says, we can sit in your chair together. Pedro, take in the moment. He gives an expression of marvel as she says his name. George says, don't worry about your memories. I'll find a way to purge them. Paume would have, but I'll find a way. Seeing it all coming back to you either way, she bitterly nods as they walk to the chair. He observes it before they sit down, and he sits down first, and then she sits across him on his lap. She tries to give an expression of joy, but bitterness eats away at her. When he moves in for the kiss, she turns her face, and he kisses her cheek. Downstairs, Wheatley and the others make it out the door. They stand in the middle of the road, waiting for her to come. Deep down, though, everyone but Helen knows she just gave them all her goodbyes. On the roof, George smiles at her and tries to kiss once more. Charlotte, who already had located the button he gestured to at the beginning, was waiting for the moment they all made it out. At this time, she has had enough and knows they must be safe. As he comes in for the kiss, she turns her head once more. She quickly presses the button as well. The entire building explodes, collapsing within itself. There are no survivors. The company in horror runs back, unready for such an exchange. All but Wheatley has tears in their eyes, but Helen has an expression of pure shock. She asks to be put down. Wheatley does so. Helen looks at everyone and says, Well, hey, you knew? You was all new? Well, Wheatley, why didn't you try to stop her? They all realize she didn't get a goodbye. She looks at her hands, and they shake uncontrollably. Everyone, even Wheatley, comes forward, and they all embrace her at once. She just cries as the building continues to come down. People steadily gather, curious what just happened. They all decide to leave. As they leave, Livia, still feeling remorse, pulls Wheatley's cape as they walk off. He stops and turns to her. She says, How many friends will we receive now? While not even staring at Wheatley, still looking at the ruined building, her expression is broken. Wheatley looks at her for a moment, then says, We'll never know. She looks up to him and faintly nods. They go to catch up with the others.
