Keeping girls in education is crucial for low and middle income countries to reduce poverty and achieve Sustainable Development Goals. These countries are now adopting English as the language of instruction, replacing the students' first language. Keeping girls in education is an urgent priority to lift low and middle income countries out of poverty and enable the governments to meet Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs. In recent years, there has been a rapid shift in low and middle income countries to using English as a language of learning and teaching, as opposed to the home or first language.
