Brittany, a 21-year-old Canadian, shares her story of being raised by her village parents and later sent to a monastery. She had the choice to become a nun or leave, but she decided to stay. She took three vows - obedience to the Pope or the Church, poverty, and chastity. Brittany excelled at writing and copying books, so she works in the library. Life in the monastery is not pleasant, but she continues to persevere. They go to church to pray eight times a day. They sleep together in a large room next to the church. They work, eat, and have limited rest time determined by the abbot, who has more power and lives separately in the monastery. This is the end of the podcast "Retornem fa uns segles." See you tomorrow. Benvinguts una tarda més al podcast de Retornem fa uns segles. El meu nom és Brittany i avui us explicaré la meva història. Vaig néixer a Canadà i tinc 21 anys. Sóc filla d'uns pares de poble. Als 6 anys ja em van portar a un monestir perquè m'anés acostumant als seus estils de vida. Quan ja vaig ser major d'edat, o sigui als 18 anys, vaig poder elegir si quedar-me com a monja o canviar. Però vaig decidir seguir. En aquest cas havia de jurar els 3 vots que eren obediència al papa o a l'església, pobresa i castellà. La veritat m'està anant tot molt bé. Des que des del principi vam veure que se'm donava bé escriure i copiar llibres. Per això em van incorporar a la biblioteca o escriptorio. I no m'han canviat mai de traves. La vida aquí no és molt agradable. M'hauria agradat haver tingut pares nobles o alguna cosa així. Però bueno, espereu que encara no he acabat. Visc en un monestir tancat i allà de tothom. 8 cops al dia anem a l'església a resar. Ja poden ser les 5 de la matinada o les 10 de la nit. En el monestir hi ha moltes parts, però nosaltres dormim tots junts en una gran habitació, al costat de l'església. Estem tot el dia treballant menjant el temps de descans, o sigui potser una mitja o una hora. El que decideixi l'àbat. Ai, per cert, si encara no us he parlat d'ell. Doncs mireu, l'àbat és la persona que mana i vigila el monestir per a que tot estigui endreçat. Ell té molt més poder que els altres, ja que és noble. I per tant viu en un habitatge a l'interior del monestir, però separat del que es diria l'església. Doncs fins aquí el programa de retornem fa uns segles. Ens veiem demà.
