Land pollution is a major issue caused by construction, legacy pollution, illegal dumping, and littering. It can harm the land and all living beings. Factories are big contributors to land pollution, releasing toxic waste into the land and water. Farming can also lead to land pollution through deforestation and chemical use. Digging for coal and minerals damages the land and causes air pollution. To prevent land pollution, plant trees, reuse materials, reduce factory usage, and spread awareness. Taking actions to prevent pollution is not only good for the planet, but also for personal well-being. ------ Hello everyone! My name is Denisava and my partner's name is Melissa. Today we are going to talk about one of the biggest issues on our planet, the land pollution. Land pollution refers to the destruction of the earth's surface that occurs as a result of building constructions. The construction isn't the only way to pollute the land. There are also legacy pollution, illegal dumping and littering: - Land pollution can be caused by illegally placing chemicals in the soil. This affects the land in a very bad way years later. It's called legacy pollution. - Illegal dumping means to throw your trash in a dumpster you don't own, for example, or to leave it in a ditch. This also applies to non-recyclable items in a recycling drop-off location. - The act of littering literally means to throw your trash outside in public places, for example, on the street. The most common waste thrown on the street are bottles, paper or scraps. Garbage is also one of the most common causes. There is a lot of garbage in every household and massive amounts get created every day. Tons of garbage gets dumped into the land occasionally and it doesn't only harm the land, it also harms every living being in the surrounding area. The factories are one of the biggest contributors to land pollution. Everyone knows how much the factories harm the nature. They produce a large amount of toxic waste, products and chemicals. Some factories dump these toxic products in lands and water bodies. While some countries have strict laws against it, others don't, and this increases the pollution a lot. The farming itself isn't a bad activity. However, the irresponsible farming can lead to very damaging consequences. Clearing a forest for a land area in order to farm makes way for land pollution. Moreover, the insecticidies and fertilizer sprays on crops also damage the land. Landing affects much the earth's erosion. The digging of holes into the ground in order to obtain coal and minerals doesn't lead to anything good for the earth's land, and it also leads to air pollution. Prevention from land pollution: - Plant more trees. Trees reduce the air pollution and the land pollution a lot. And if you don't have what to do instead of spending your time on your farm, you can be unhealthy to nature and to your health. - Reuse materials. If you reuse your materials instead of using them more and leaving them to waste, this will reduce the earth's waste. - Reduce the usage of factories. Nowadays we cannot live without factories, but we can try to reduce their usage. They're a really important part of our lives, but they're one of the biggest polluters to the land, and if our planet dies, we'll die with it too. - Spread awareness. There are a lot of protests on this topic, but is this really enough? It doesn't seem that anybody really cares about this, so our suggestion is to put a subject on this topic in every school. If kids are aware of that from a very young age, there is a really high chance for them to make a change. In conclusion, we think it will be a lot better if you use some of your free time to do something that prevents the land pollution and pollution in general. That will not be only good for the planet, but also for you, because if you spend more time in nature, you will feel happier. And if you think that you are only one person and it won't make any difference, remember, it always makes a difference. This will be the end of our podcast for today. We hope you enjoyed it and don't forget to spend at least one hour a day in the nature.
