Good evening, thank you for listening, thank you for having me on the show Lynne and I'm here with Elle's Food for Thought and this is Elle. Now it's not often that I like to have a rant or get upset about things to do with food, however I was in Morrison's in the last week and there's something I saw that really just, I don't know, struck something in me that this, it's not okay what's happening. So essentially right now we're in a global health crisis specifically focused by you know Western health issues to do with disease that happens because of lifestyle. This includes cancer, this includes type 2 diabetes and heart disease, fatty liver disease, overweight and obesity and this all ripples out into our mental health challenges as well. There's lots and lots of correlations between you know what we eat and things like you know depression, anxiety, low mood. So the kind of health crisis we're seeing right now has major major roots in nutrition which is great because it means that we can use food to support us in a really empowering way. However there are very many, many, many people looking to profit from us having a poor diet as a nation. So on one hand we have this entire health crisis largely contributed by the consumption of foods made from flour and sugar and oil and then on the other hand we have companies like Morrison's who you know they give you points when you buy things and the big thing in the store right now is that you get a hundred points for buying their bakery items. So their bakery items are really, really cheap for them to make because they're made from flour and oil and sugar. So you spend a pound or two pounds whatever it is, you get points which give you discount in the future which is you know great thing. We all need support to be able to spend less on shopping but the thing that we've spent the money on isn't offering us any nutrients whatsoever. It's actually creating more cycles of poor well-being inside the body and yeah maybe it was a cheap thing to buy but a cheap thing to buy with a big cost on our health and they are actively promoting people to buy two boxes of their cream cakes to get more of these points. So we're having a global health crisis and people are cashing in on it you know these multi conglomerate organizations are profiting from it. So really, really passionate about this and about us having you know more of a deeper sense of connection to our body and food and what food really is and you know food can be an opportunity to feel really, really, really great. So we can take this as a step toward our empowered and informed choice so when we see these adverts of you know the special deals, special discounts about how we get on free the extra points, it's this question of who's really getting the deal here because usually it's not us. Usually it's them making a profit and us getting some low quality, low nutrient product that actually just creates more cravings and drives us to buy more of their stuff that isn't useful for the body. So have this as a little slice of freedom to bring you closer to feeling really, really good in your body.
