For many reasons being extreme crimes being committed towards anyone not white and such or with an accent and how it portrays that for decades they have suffered more than this oppression, this silent and slow genocide. The movie Boys in the Hood reinforces how for decades conservatives have demonized anyone that they disagree with, don't understand or view as inferior. People with mental illness, people of different races, religions and sexualities have consistently been portrayed as threats. The roots of modern conservatism and right-wing extremism are deeply tied to Christian nationalism. Although many deny it, this country was built on Christianity. Our pledge of allegiance even states one nation under God. Yet there are many religions practiced in this country. Christianity has repeatedly been used to justify racism, division and hate. We see this pattern continue today as history is removed from government websites, museums, textbooks and memorials, while black women and men are once again labeled as incompetent and less valuable. These individuals are treated as numbers rather than human beings. We see this pattern continue today as we watch us, paralyzed communities, still in door-to-door, detaining people regardless of documentation and violating their basic human rights. As they lock them in cages without medical care, no sunlight, no beds, and no other emergency, we see people murdered in the streets while they're responsible or granted immunity. Anyone with an accent or double-skinned tone is viewed as a domestic terrorist. This includes children who are being torn from their families with no explanation, confused and alone, and who are being deported to places they've never been with no family and no one to help them. The Supreme Court has granted them the power to do so, alongside the full federal immunity from any crimes in which no human should ever have, those who try to uphold the Constitution, defend the process, and exercise their right to protest are labeled as domestic terrorists. Despite the fact that domestic terrorism has historically been far more prevalent on the right, in the film we repeatedly see people's rights being violated, as we see today in what occurred back when the film was produced. We see stereotypical responses from police, teachers, and parents, and we see a severe lack of resources in schools because the government deems these neighborhoods less worthy, labeling them as criminal, inferior, and incapable of success. Throughout this movie, we watch young boys get beaten down, exhausted, and worn out. Many turn to crime because they are told their entire lives that that's all they will ever be, criminals, that they will never amount to anything, and that they will never be equal to white men or women. People act as though this history is ancient, that there are still women alive today and men who attended segregated schools. They have little to no resources, and mental health services do not exist to impact these kids beyond repair, from everyday normal human experiences to the tremendous amount of anguish, abuse, and violence the world has put them through.
