Hello, my name is Kia Wallace, and I am an aspiring primary school teacher. I have a personal teaching philosophy that centers around the belief that every student has the potential to succeed, and that it is my role as an educator to provide the tools and environment necessary for that success. I strive to create a classroom atmosphere that is inclusive, engaging, and supportive. One thing that I have a lot of focus on in my teaching is student-centered learning. I believe in placing students at the center of their learning experience. This involves empowering them to take ownership of their education through active participation, critical thinking, and collaborative projects. Differentiated instruction is also something that's important to me because I recognize that each student has unique needs and learning styles, and so I'll tailor my teaching methods to accommodate diverse learners, which would include a mix of visual, auditory, and hands-on activities, also known as kinesthetic, to ensure that all students can grasp the material. I also would encourage critical thinking in my classroom by fostering a classroom environment where questioning and curiosity are encouraged. By challenging students to think critically about the material and its real-world application, I help them develop problem-solving skills and a deeper understanding of the subject matter. I also wish to create a supportive community because I believe that a positive and respectful classroom community is essential for effective learning. So I, personally, would work to create strong relationships with my students and encourage them to support and respect one another. Lastly, I believe in continuous improvement for me as an educator. I am committed to my own professional growth and continuously seek out new teaching strategies and technologies to enhance my practice. I also value feedback tremendously from my students and my colleagues as a means of improving my teaching and the style in which I do it in. By adhering to these personal principles of mine, I aim to create a learning environment where students feel as though they are valued, challenged, and inspired to reach their full potential.
