Hey guys, welcome back to another EJ's voice cast podcast episode. This is not a bonus episode. This is going to be episode 12. And good news, I believe I told you folks about me opening up a Fiverr account. I did. So I got the page set up, but I didn't publish it right away. I want to do more work on it. That work, I guess, paid off. So I got the work done and I published it. And about a week after that, nice surprise, I got a hit. I figured I did need it. At that time, I needed to do more work on the page than I had done already, but it caught somebody's eye. The picture I put up of myself in the caption to advertise myself, I guess, was pretty good. Kind of nothing splashy, pretty simple. Just a few words at the top to say, Hey, I do voice talent, the kind of voice talent I do. A couple of lines in there, two pictures, a microphone picture and my face. That's it. With a kind of purplish background. I like the color. I like purple. Hey, sue me. So I got a hit, reached out to my current coaches, a couple of them to see if they've heard of this group or groups. Because one thing that caught me is the name on the email. The company name on the email was one name. The company name basically on the return address, if you want to call it that, once I dug into it, was a different name. I looked them both up. They both appeared to be legit, but I'm still reaching out to make sure this isn't some kind of weird scam going across that no one's caught yet or I haven't heard of. So I haven't heard back from them yet. We'll see what happens. It's nothing firm yet. As I said, reached out to the coaches, doing my groundwork, protecting myself. I want to make sure this isn't a scam. And speaking of new, I had my first meet up with my accent coach, Sammy Grant. We had a good talk. I let her know what accent I wanted to work on for now. I want to work on the Southern, old Southern long drawl with a lot of R's in it and perfect that. And the reason why I'm doing this, I probably mentioned this before, is after living in the South, I can do a Southern sounding accent, but it's not going to fool anyone. Most people are going to hear it and go like, yeah, you ain't from the South. You got like six different accents mixed in there and, you know, cultural dialects and whatnot. So that's going to take some work to clean that up. Don't know how much. The schedule that she proposed is very flexible, works out for me. She said the time that we met for the 20 minute meet and greet is perfect. So that means six o'clock in the morning for me on Fridays. I might be able to shift that around to a Saturday for me, Friday for her. For this coming week, this is going to work. The reason why I picked her is I like the way she explained her process. Basically how she teaches accents, but also how you do an accent, how the accent is formed, what you have to do with your mouth, your lips, your tongue, things like that, rather than just say, oh, just do it this way and sound this way. She took the time to explain it. I liked what I heard. Why not? So hopefully this is mutually beneficial. I don't know how, but we'll see. I mean, yes, I'm paying her, so that's the benefit on the other end, but you know, we'll see where it goes. Yeah, attention to detail is quite important. During the interview process, I'm comfortable with the decision I made, so we shall see how well I can follow directions to get the sound I'm supposed to have, what I want, and then practice, practice, practice to nail it down. I'm not sure what accent I'm going to do after this one. Kind of toying around. I don't know. I heard French accents pretty tough. Everyone's doing British accent. I may go with Australian accent just because. Now I just need to sign up for more classes with my current VO coaches so I can get some hits. Switching to Fiverr, I didn't actually stop Voices.com. I just switched over and opened one up on Fiverr to do freelance stuff, which technically I was already doing. We shall see. Of course, when I got the text, I was out having some beers with some friends, and I got the text. I was like, holy moly, I got a text. I wanted to jump up and shout it, but I said, no, I'm going to shut my mouth. I'm going to keep this to myself, but I'm telling you guys. So we'll see. Very surprising. Got back in contact with them. It's the weekend. We'll see where it goes from there. Thanks again for listening. As always, feedback is welcome. Subscriptions are welcome. Let me know if you have any words of wisdom. I haven't heard back from anybody yet, so there's probably only two or three people listening. I got to check the stats. Maybe that same person in South Carolina is still listening. Thank you very much. If you are, have a good day. I got to make it in this life. Whatever makes me happy, know I'm doing things right. Sipping in the summer on a goose dance right. We'll find a nightclub for the end of the night. And we all got dreams. We all want things. But what you gon' do for it? How you gon' move for it? What you gon' be? And if we could be, we could do anything. But what you gon' do for it? How you gon' move for it? How you gon' be?
