Nothing to say, yet
The Finding Emet radio program aims to help people understand and live the truth of the Bible from a Hebrew perspective. The program features teachings by Brother Daniel Rentalman of Emet Ministries. During the ten days between the Feast of Trumpets and the Day of Atonement, individuals are encouraged to seek Yahweh through repentance, prayer, and charity. These actions can alter the decree written by Yahweh on the Feast of Trumpets. It is important to seek reconciliation with others during this time as well. The next ten days will determine the pattern of one's life for the next year. It is a time to question motives, search hearts, and seek Yahweh through Scripture, prayer, and good deeds. The goal is to restore the joy of salvation and undergo a spiritual makeover known as the "battery effect," which can change individuals into Yahweh's image or keep them bound in selfishness. The name of this teaching is called The Battery Effect. Everybody say this. The Battery Effect. The Battery Effect. All right. Now that you know that, what are we talking about? Well, we know that there are days between the holy day of Yom Teruah, or the Feast of Trumpets, and Yom Kippurim, or the Day of Atonement. There are ten days. How many days? Ten. Ten days. Very good. The ten days of all. A-W-E. The ten days of all, or in Hebrew, Yimim No-Reim. Yimim No-Reim. Say that again. Yimim No-Reim. One more time. Yimim No-Reim. Very good. These are called the ten days of Teshuva, the ten days of repentance, the ten days of seeking Yahweh. Now we are told that Yahweh, through His foreknowledge, has books that He writes our names in. Writing down those who are going to have a good life in the coming year, and those who are going to have a bad life. These books are written, we are told, on Yom Teruah, the Feast of Trumpets. But our actions during the Yimim No-Reim, or the ten days of all, can alter the decree. Now we are told by the rabbis that the three actions that can alter the decree are Teshuva, Tefilah, and Zedakah, which is Teshuva, repentance, turning to Yahweh, Tefilah, prayer, and justice, or giving charity, or giving to the poor, or doing good deeds, you could say. Now the problem is, the Jewish people rely only on these three things. And they try really, really, really hard to make themselves good and righteous enough so that on the day of Yom Kippur, their names are written in the Book of Life. That's a problem because you can't earn yourself into it. Amen? It comes by trusting Yahweh, Yeshua. What does Yeshua mean? Salvation. He shall save His people from their sins. And we are told that these books are closed, they're sealed on Yom Kippur. So this is common because many times in Jewish communities, the greeting is, may you be inscribed and sealed for a good year of this time. And it's custom to seek reconciliation. To seek what? Reconciliation. Now we all know that we are all ministers of reconciliation. Isn't that what is said in the Newer Testament? But to go to people who maybe you have hurt, or maybe people who have hurt you, and to seek reconciliation, coming together, a closeness. Now, but Talmud states that Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, atones only for sins between man and Yahweh. Hear me now. We are told that Yom Kippur only atones for sins between man and Yahweh. And that if I've sinned against Connie, or Justin, or Daniel, or Rebecca, then I as an individual have to go to Connie, or Justin, or Daniel, or Rebecca, and ask their forgiveness. That it's a personal forgiveness. It's a personal, well, I'm sorry that I've offended you. I'm sorry that I did this. I was wrong. Will you please forgive me? That you first must seek reconciliation with that person. Even try to right the wrong. If you stole $10 from them, that you give them back $10, maybe plus some. If you did something wrong, that you go to that person, and you try to make it right. So it's during these 10 days, the Yamin Norein, it's very, very important that we seek Yahweh. Because we are told that what occurs during these 10 days, the next 10 days, hear me now, the next 10 days will determine the pattern of our life for the next 365 days. These are very special times. Now the book of Yeshayahu, the book of Isaiah, chapter 55, verse 6, says to seek Yahweh while He can be found. Call upon Him while He is near. Seek Him while He can be found. And we always thought we were told in the church, oh, just, you can pray anytime, anywhere. Yes, that's exactly right. However, there are certain times when it's like, heaven is a little bit closer to earth. There's that intimacy there. Shabbat is one of those days. Now the sages of Judaism have also said this, I'd like to quote them, that this verse teaches us that there are times when Yahweh can be found, and times when Yahweh is not to be found easily. There are times when Yahweh is near, and times when Yahweh is not near. When is Yahweh to be found? During the ten days between Yom Teruah and Yom Kippurim. So when is Yahweh to be found? Over the next ten days, Yom Yom Noreen, between Rosh Hashanah or Yom Teruah, the Feast of Trumpets, and the Day of Atonement. That what we think, what we say, what we do during these next ten days, affect, and they set patterns. Now we've been told, psychologists tell us that it takes how many days to start a habit? Twenty-one days. That's exactly right, unless you're talking about the next ten days. Because time, over the next ten days, hurries up. It's like you're going through three weeks. It's like you're getting ready for Yom Kippur. You're preparing for that fast. You're preparing your heart and your life, and things get better. So it's very important over the next ten days, very important over the next ten days that we question our motives, we search our hearts, we seek Yahweh. Spend a little extra time in the Scriptures, in prayer, and in doing good deeds. So turn with me to Tehillim, Psalm 51. But during these next ten days, what should our mindset be? What should we be thinking about? Should we be just dreading Yom Kippur? Oh, I'm not going to get to eat for a whole day. What am I going to do? Should we be filling ourselves with the latest news, or excuse me, bad news that's on TV? But Tehillim 51, starting in verse 7, Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean. Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me to hear joy and gladness. Let the bones which thou hast broken rejoice. Do not hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. Verse 10, create in me a clean heart, O Yahweh. Renew a steadfast, upright spirit within me. Do not cast me away from thy presence. Do not take thine Holy Spirit from me. Restore, get this, restore unto me the joy of thy salvation, the joy of your Yahshua. And sustain me with a willing spirit. Isn't that what we need? A willing spirit? Then, then, then I will teach transgressors thy ways, and sinners will be converted. This is our heart's cry during this time. That Yahweh would not cast us away, that he would not take his Ruach from us, but he would restore unto us the joy of our salvation. Now think about this for a minute. Remember the day you were born again, created from above? You got filled with the Holy Ghost stuff. I could be a TV preacher, you know, I've got the hair, and I'm going to keep working on it. Alright, dear? My wife is looking at me like, no way. She said she'd leave me if I ever became a preacher or a politician. TV preacher, is that what it is? I say you don't ever trust people, if their profession begins with the P, you don't trust them. Preachers, plumbers, politicians, prostitutes, you got it? Don't trust any of them. You said it. You said it, not me. So restore unto me the joy of thy salvation. Remember the day we got born again and how great, it was like everything was better. The sky was bluer, the grass was greener. It was wonderful. It was like one of those commercials for like McDonald's food when they're just, it's a beautiful morning. They're all just walking and everything's great. He says restore that. The next ten days leading up to Yom Kippur should not be sad days, should not be oh me oh my, but they should be joyous days, you hear me? We are praying to Yahweh to restore the joy of our salvation. Yom Kippur is not about being sad and beating ourselves down, it's about the joy that Yeshua has forgiven our sins. Now this teaching is called the battery effect. What's it called? The battery effect. Because this prayer is just the first step to our, what you could say, a ten day spiritual makeover. Now my wife went recently to a Mary Kay party where they try to sell you this overpriced makeup that's probably the same you get at the Dollar Tree, right? So she goes and they do this free makeover. You've got a one night makeover. Well this is a spiritual ten day makeover that all goes about the battery effect. So when you leave here today, somebody says, why did you go to synagogue? What did you learn? You say, I learned about the battery effect. The battery effect is a powerful force that cannot be argued and it has the power to change us. Now here's the deal, Isaiah, the battery effect either changes us into Yahweh's image or it keeps us bound up in selfishness. It has the power to do either. The choice is ours. So you're probably saying, what is he talking about? Is he trying to sell me some spiritual batteries? Yes, I am. $4.99, you can have a spiritual battery, it's been anointed and prayed for. $4.50, I've got a deal right there. I've got a car full. What's a battery? A battery is a device, and here's what it does. It converts chemical energy into electrical energy. Now the term battery first comes from Benjamin Franklin. He coined the term battery. He made it. He understood this. Now he wasn't knowledgeable of the cellular makeup and what all took place with the electrons and neurons and all those things there, but he coined the terms positive and negative for batteries. And he said there's a positive force and a negative force on a battery because he was trying to discern what direction electricity flowed by watching sparks as he was messing and creating this battery. And he discerned this, that a consistent direction that sparks began to jump. So he said the positive terminal, the positive side was the source of the energy. The positive side was the source of the energy. The negative side was where they jumped, that it jumped to negativity, but it started positive. Now the battery, what it does, a little double A or nine volt or big car battery, it stores up chemicals that are made into energy when corresponding powers are paired. Think about it. You've got to jump start your vehicle and you take that battery that's bad and the car that's died, you take the battery that's good and you plug in the red positive on one car to the red positive on the other car, at least you hope to. And then you do the same thing. You must connect positive to positive and what? Negative to negative. If you mix it up, you're going to fry your alternator, you're going to blow up the car and have a bad hair day. I do not suggest doing that. From this simple function, we can learn some great spiritual principles for the next 10 days. The battery effect teaches us this. For every action, there's a corresponding positive or negative reaction. Small changes create changes nearby. What we personally think or say or do affects others and it affects ourselves. Each day affects another. The next 10 days are important, but you got to understand every day affects another day. Now, get this. Our environment changes when power is released. But that power, Colby, can be either positive from the source or it can be negative from the jumping. I mean, isn't that what we do? We jump and get negative. I know I do. I'm just talking about myself here, right? Am I just talking about myself? You just you jump and get negative real fast. But the source is to be positive. Now, during the 10 days of all, during these yamim noraym, we've got to understand that everything we do is either positive or negative. We are either releasing positive power and positive energy and Yahweh's spirit or we are releasing negative power, negative energy and the flesh. So during these 10 days, we've got to make sure we're monitoring what we do and say so we can be positive or guess what's going to happen? Guess what's going to happen? We're going to reap negativity. So let me ask you this right now. During these next 10 days. During these next 10 days, can you keep that in mind? But there's positive and negative. And let me ask you, are you a positive or negative person? Are you a positive or negative thinker? Do you tell yourself, I can do this, I can do this, I can reach my goal, or do you tell yourself, don't get excited? You know, it's going to turn out. Because our thoughts can cause us to fail. Hear me, Joshua. Think about it when you're around somebody that's positive and upbeat, we've got a friend. Her name is Keisha, star Keisha, that's what we call her, we call her human Prozac. You are around this lady and you just feel better. You know what I'm saying? She's like, she's like taking a dose of Prozac. Everything's better when you're around Keisha. Are you that person? We all know misery loves company, right? But the truth is, sad and depressed people don't make very good company. Attitude is contagious. Actions are contagious. So a positive mind, positive. Will actually be expecting a good result, happiness, joy, health, positive outcomes. And it doesn't mean you got to be a positive thinker and just put a smile on your face and say, oh, I'm happy. I'm sick and tired of that. We see that enough on TV, right? Don't we? We see that enough. But we've got to understand Galatians chapter six, seven through eight, do not be deceived. Hear me, do not be deceived. The battery effect is true. Yahweh is not mocked whatsoever. A man sows, he shall reap. For if you sow in the flesh, you shall reap of the flesh corruption. If you sow in negativity, you shall reap negativity. But he that sows in the ruach, in the spirit, shall reap the spirit for eternal life. So if we want more joy, if we want more happiness, if we want things to work out, then we've got to begin with ourselves. Revelation 2, 23 says, I will give unto every one of you according to his works. Oy vey. That's a big one. That's oy gevalt. That means, oh, my goodness, he's going to give unto us, return unto us according to our works. Proverbs 17, 18. Whoever rewards evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house. So what happens when you try to do evil for good? It doesn't work, does it? Ezekiel 7, 27 is one of the verses that is quoted in the synagogue during these days. Ezekiel 7, 27. According to their way, I will do to them. According to their own judgments, I will judge them, that they will know that I am Yahweh. The principle is simple. Positive thoughts equal positive actions, equal positive outcomes. We have to be, you must be, you've got to be more mindful of your actions and your thoughts over the next 10 days. Let me say this. As I was preparing the teaching, I read the statement and I just kind of sat back and said, wow. I'm not that smart. This is pretty good. And it's so simple. I'll read it so I don't mess it up. The whole function of thought is to produce habits of action. The whole reason why you think something is so that you can do it. And evidently, if you're doing it, you want to continue doing it. So do people consider us to be negative or positive? What is the energy that we feed? Matthew 7, 12. Get this. Therefore, all things whatsoever that you would do unto men, if you want them to do to you, do also unto them. This is the law and the prophets. That's a battery effect. If you want someone to love you, love them. If you want to feel compassion, show compassion. The first step during these 10 days of all is awareness. Everybody say awareness, awareness. I don't know about you, but I can get negative really fast. I get frustrated really fast and sometimes I just need somebody to come up to me and slap it out of me. I was not asking for a show of hands to slap me. But thank you for the willingness of so many people to slap the negativity away. You get around somebody negative and you feel it just coming out of you. You feel the energy draining. Isn't that right? So how do you know when it's negative? If it feels bad or uncomfortable, then it's negative. Your feelings are like a tap on the shoulder. The feelings are doing this. They're tapping you on your shoulder and saying, wait a minute. So we need to try over the next 10 days to identify it. Because if you can identify what is happening, you can make good choices about it. You cannot stop negativity from occurring around you. You hear me? Some people just that way. We all have an Eeyore in our family. You know who Eeyore is, right? Oh my, it's going to rain today. Thanks for noticing me. There you go. All right. Thanks for noticing. You know what I'm saying? I think we get the Eeyore spirit sometimes. It's just like, oh, nobody cares. Thanks for noticing. Very good. But if we can identify it, then we can make a choice. The problem is identifying it. We get so wrapped up in it, right? So don't just say, well, I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. Right? So don't join with the negative. The other thing is we've got to be careful that we don't contribute to it. How do we do that? It's by criticizing, by diminishing, by getting, you know, whatever. I've got a great way to handle this. When a person is negative around you, simply ask them, Donovan, do you realize you're complaining? Do you realize you're being negative? Melanie, do you realize you're being negative? Then you know what you say to that person. You say, Don, I want you to say something good about this problem. We all have negativity around us, but we've got to make the choice, Yehuda, to say something good about it. Now take a few minutes. Think about this. Don't you want people to feel good after being in your presence? Come on. Yes, you do. Yes, you do. So if that's the case, if that's the case, the battery effect says that you are not a victim of your circumstances. Let your spirit hear that. You are not a victim of your circumstances. You are the master of your attitude. You determine your outcome. That's what the battery effect says. Now, when you place a battery into an electronic device, the connections have to match. Isn't that right? Positive to positive, negative to negative. A positive connection produces positive energy. What does negative connection bring? Negative energy. Zig Ziglar, who's one of my favorites, he said this. Zig Ziglar said this. Positive thinking will let you do everything better than negative thinking will. You can do it thinking negatively, but you can do it better if you think positively. Here's the truth. If you put that battery in upside down, it's not going to work. Positive has got to meet positive. Negative has got to meet negative. Do not be mistaken. Listen, you cannot act negatively and then expect the outcome to be positive. You might not say amen after I say a few things now, because this is hard. This is hard. You cannot fill your day with soap operas and network TV and Hollywood movies and the news and call yourself a spiritual person. You know what I'm saying? It just doesn't work. You can't feed yourself junk food, fried food or fast food and say, I'm healthy. You can't be rude, crude, obnoxious or uncaring and have a support group of friends. You cannot break commandments, forsake worship, ignore the spirit and then hope for a blessing. Hope for a rescue. You can. This is negative. You can't point out the faults in others, criticize and moan and complain and then hope for a good outcome. Oh, Lord, bless them. They're so evil. There's such a gossip. Will you cannot belittle those who don't know the truth and then expect them to convert, can you? That's not going to work. And finally, you cannot have unforgiveness and then expect Yahweh to forgive you. However, everybody say, however, everybody say, however, one more time, however, you can. How do you react positively to a negative situation and stop the negative power and energy from infecting people? Y'all didn't get that. You got it. You cannot be negative and expect it to be positive, but you can be positive and stop the power of the negativity. Listen to this first, Kepha 417, for the time has come that judgment must begin in the house of Yahweh. And if it is first begins at us, what then shall be end of those who do not believe? We got to judge ourselves. Don't judge me. Don't judge Nicholas. Don't judge Kiana. Judge yourself. First Corinthians 1131. This is a good verse to memorize. First Corinthians 1131, for if we judge ourselves, we will not be judged. First Corinthians 1131. She just wrote it down in lipstick, so she'd remember it. First Corinthians 1131, if we judge ourselves, we will not be judged. I mean, if we're clarifying ourselves and we are cleansing ourselves and we're praying like King Melik David did here, you know, search me, restore me. Bring about the joy of your salvation. We won't need somebody else to do it. We won't even need Yahweh to do it, will we? Now, that's the level of righteousness we haven't really seen. But it's time that over the next 10 days we look inside and we recharge our batteries with Yahweh's power. But the battery effect can move in our lives. That positive actions produce positive energy, which brings a positive outcome. Pretty simple. Negative actions bring negative energy that brings a negative outcome. So for the 10 days of all, I want to give you 10 ways to be positive. 10 ways to be positive. These are very simple. 10 ways to be positive over the next 10 days, which are the 10 days of all the Yamim Noreen. Number one. This one might break you. Smile. Come on, let's everybody try it. Smile at your neighbor. Come on, Donovan, Colby, y'all can do it. Show me some teeth. Look at there. That is a smile. You got that holy laughter. There you go. It's like the Joker over there. Smile. You know, it's pitiful. We come in sometimes, we got this religious look on our face, like I've been baptized in pickle juice. It's looking on a pickle. I've been baptized in pickle juice. Smile more. Number one. I don't like that. Number two. This is pretty simple. Replace the negative thoughts and actions with positive ones. Instead of slapping that person, extend a hand to love them. Number three. Learn the art. This is an art. You ready? Number three. Learn the art. This is a hard art. Of ignoring people. Not the rabbi, learn the art of ignoring people. It is hard. There are some people I just have to ignore. And if I don't ignore, they will drive me up the wall. You know what I'm talking about? Don't point at me. Learn the art of ignoring people. And it's amazing what that does. Number four. Number four. Number one was smile. Number two was replaced the negative with positive. Number three was learn the art of ignoring people. Number four is. Once you get a negative thought. Try to replace it with a positive one. You're right. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Don't ignore me. Really just try to kick it out. Same thing as number two. I was just seeing if you were paying attention. Number five. Expect a positive outcome. When you open the mailbox, expect a positive outcome. When you open the e-mail, expect a positive outcome. Expect Yahweh to be on your side. But don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. Don't worry. We feed ourselves in all these negative things. We tell the kids, no, no, no, no, no. Don't do that. Don't do that. Don't do that. Think about these things. You could say, don't drop it. Right? Don't drop it. Or you could say, hold that glass carefully, please. You follow me? April, you could say, don't walk on the grass. Or you could say, walk on the footpath, please. You could say, in case of fire, do not use the elevators. Or you could say, run for your life! No, you could say, in case of fire, don't use the elevators. Or you could say, use the stairs, please. We could say, kids, don't do that. Why not tell them what to do? I get tired of telling my kids, don't do that. Quit aiming the rifle at your brother. I keep trying to say that. Don't aim the rifle at your brother. So what am I going to replace it with? Something positive. Not aiming at yourself. No, it's going to be something positive, like do target practice with the non-living targets. I'm just joking. Number seven. I'll begin with an L. You ready? Three words. Goes right along with this teaching. You ready? Number seven. Laugh, love, and live. Life is too short, ladies and gentlemen. Spend your time with the people that matter. You will not make memories staying away. You will only make memories together. Instead of dwelling, get this, instead of dwelling on how life was in the past, how it could be in the future, do something now. Make some memories now. Life is short. Laugh, love, live. Number eight. Number eight. Don't let other people bring you down. I said don't, didn't I? Do not allow people to bring you down. Allow people to take you up only. When someone says something negative or rude, encourage them. Here's what to say, Connie. I'm here, you dear. Why don't you say something good about that situation? Force them into that. Force them. The next time Melanie gets to complaining, just say, Melanie, say something positive about that situation. The next time Maggie gets to complaining, say, Maggie, say something positive about that situation. Number nine, which is very similar to number two and number four. Get control of your thoughts. That's a hard one. Get control of your thoughts. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is fair, whatever is pure, whatever is acceptable, whatever is commendable, if there is anything of excellence, if there is anything praiseworthy, keep thinking about these things. Here's a simple phrase, garbage in, garbage out. He shall keep thee in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee. You've got to keep your mind on Him and be thinking on these good things, and you will get control of your thoughts. Get out the negativity. And finally, number ten. Everybody say number ten. The battery effect, number ten. Keep a battery in your pocket at all times, everywhere you go, to remind you of this teaching. It should not be used in Wiis or remotes. Keep a battery in your pocket at all times to remind you that everything you say, Daniel, everything you do is either negative or positive. The battery is going to be in your pocket, right? And you dig in your pocket for change, don't you? Alright, so when you're digging in your pocket for change and you pull out that battery, just say, I'm going to be the change that I want to see in this world. I'm going to be positive. I'm going to do it. It's going to be me. The change I want to see, I'm going to be. And I'm going to be positive. I'm not going to be negative. And the things that are negative that come my way, I'm going to be positive to. And I'm going to stop its power. The next ten days, the next ten days will determine our future. The next ten days, the next ten days will determine your attitude, your actions, your life. Number ten was keep the battery in your pocket to remind you of this. Be positive when others are harsh and you will, you will reap the benefits. Yahweh does not want us being eeyore. He wants us to be positive. And it's not that we've got to put a fake smile on our face. But it's simply understanding that what we do, you reap what you sow. And for every single action, thought or deed, there is a positive or negative reaction. You make the choice. And as we gather on Yom Kippur, we will see, we will reap the benefits. Amen.
