“Our Situation” is a slow-burning soul-funk track with Stax and Motown energy, a laid-back groove, and lyrics about a love slipping from illusion to reality. It’s about two people who’ve wasted too much time and want each other more than ever, while knowing their rhythm is fading. With smooth jazz-inspired guitar, aching vocals, and a chorus that asks you to really look at what’s left, this song lives in that space between holding on and letting go. ✍️ Written by Don Mathis © 1978 Don Mathis
