The speaker shares a story about a woman who lost her arms and their journey at sea. They mention encountering Spanish gangsters and the challenges faced at Jamestown. The speaker also talks about their role as a captain and their mission to build a colony in the New World. They end by promoting "Run Across the Gone." And we are back with another episode of Live at Sea, I'm excited to share with you a story of changing the arms of a woman who is not able to walk. I couldn't help but notice the missing arms. I was trying to catch it for the first time in 10 years and I just caught it on the wall. I'm just joking. I lost my arm while trying to catch the two Spanish critters. When did you first sail to New York? I set sail on December 19th, 1965. I started trawling in the New World. Oh, who's that? Oh, it's one of my former sponsor barnacles. They got inside of the ticket barnacles on your ship. Just one spread and they're gone. Only 17 days to go. Well, that sounds like a very good deal. Why did you make it on to recognize the authority of the Spanish gangsters? Well, you see, at first the Spanish gangsters were very violent and we wanted to avoid that next time. We came to their village and made them respect our way of life so as not to be attacked. We're not police officers, we're not suspecting anything, it's possible. How did you become a captain if you weren't born in New York? Well, you see, my father was a ship master, so I grew up on both ship and land. And I was taught, as well as being taught, to read and write, making it indispensable to captain and crew. So it was only a matter of time before I became a captain. So why did you choose to make a voyage or come to the New World? I was somehow on a mission to build a colony in the New World by King James I himself. It was successful, but there were a lot of hiccups at Jamestown. What were some of the hiccups that arose at Jamestown? Well, there were a lot of calls for tax in the Navy, for mining, for weeds, as well as harsh winters, specifically the winter of 1609 to 1610 out here. They called it Starry Town or it was hard being a crew and they ate whatever they had. On my next trip back, I had a horrific aftermath. Well, this is helpful. Thank you so much for coming to the New Field of Buckeye. Love to you. Good luck on your next voyage. It was a pleasure. Thank you very much for having me.
