Training, including communication strategies and self-reflection, is critical. Trauma-informed training is especially important for students like Thien, who have had traumatic experiences. Home visits are also encouraged as they allow us to learn about the child's culture and family in a deeper way. It's also important to think about our own assumptions and biases towards students of color.
