I wrote this when I had Covid. Not pleasant but I thought that at least things could have been worse - for example having syphilis when there were no anti-biotics. I did a bit of internet searching, and originally had about 7 verses which needed to be cut down. The 'cure' was to be locked naked in a box with only your head protruding, sitting above some glowing coal, which the doctor tipped mercury on to. An inscription on one of these boxes said 'Pleasure costs you a thousand pains'.
