Nothing to say, yet
Derek Winterbach, an author, has published two books in the There Be Dragons series and is working on the third. He is open to opportunities in the literature business, including writing, editing, and narrating. He believes his books would make great audiobooks and that he could be an excellent narrator. Derek is interested in fantasy, fiction, and post-apocalyptic genres, and believes in the existence of mythical creatures in another world or dimension. He has a background in law and business but has always had a passion for fantasy. Derek is able to write without knowing the ending and allows the plot to unfold as he writes. He is also interested in non-fiction topics and current affairs. Hello everybody. My name is Derek Winterbach. I am an author. My pen name is Derek Winters. I published two books on Amazon Kindle in the There Be Dragons series. Book one is Lemuria, Scorched Earth, and book two is Lemuria, There Be Giants. Book three is complete. It's called Atlantis, and it'll be published shortly. I am a 53-year-old single parent of two teenagers, and I live here in the eastern Cape or southeastern shore of South Africa in a little town called Port Alfred, where I mostly write, although I also do a bit of carpentry. I would welcome the chance to be in the literature business, to earn a bit of income part-time, either as a freelance writer or an editor or narrator. I understand that I would love my own books to be converted into audiobooks, and I think I could be an excellent narrator myself. I think my English is clear. I think my voice is tolerable. I don't have a typically South African accent because I've spent time in Ireland over a year, and England five years, but now I'm here permanently, and I'm looking to be a narrator. What can I say? What interests me? Well, I write fantasy, fiction, post-apocalyptic books, adventure stories involving your usual suspects from the realm of legend and mythology, giants, dragons, dwarves, elves, goblins, all your Lord of the Rings characters. I honestly think that there is a cross-cultural subconscious memory of all these beings, humanoids, hybrids and others, who must have at one time existed or still exist today in another world or another dimension. By another world, I mean another planet somewhere or another dimension and time and place, or perhaps even in Earth, or perhaps even hidden on Earth in caves and forests and remote areas, mountains, for example. I'm a qualified lawyer. I have a business degree, and most of my life has been doing anything else but delving into the world of fantasy and adventure. So I think being over the age of 50, I'm probably reverting back to what I loved as a child. I would often daydream. I had an active imagination, still do. I could close my eyes and just picture myself in another world. I picture myself battling demons, giants, aliens, monsters, going on great adventures. And so it is easy for me to... it was easy for me to put pen on paper, ultimately. The challenge as an author is always to convert 60-odd pages into an entire book. But, yeah, I manage it. I'm not pedantic and semantic. My English was probably not polished enough when I began, but it's improved now. Now I have the ability to start a chapter without even knowing how it's going to end, and the plot seems to unfold as I write. Subconsciously I'm thinking about how I want the story to unravel paragraph by paragraph. And it all comes together. I would welcome the chance to be a freelance writer as well. I am able to behave mature and responsible and to cross into the world of non-fiction. I take an active interest in current affairs, geopolitics, climate, and whatever is going on around the world is obviously of concern to me. So I could also narrate non-fiction. This was my first ever attempt at an audio, so I hope it's clear enough. And please excuse the slight pauses and ums and ahs. Thank you and goodbye.
