In addition to krill, there are many other mysterious organisms in the deep sea. Pink ctenophores are blob-like creatures that emit bioluminescent light. Amphipods are crustaceans that look like they're from science fiction. Lanternfish that glow in the dark come up from the depths in large groups. Baby squid are small but intelligent, able to change colors. One squid surprised us by shooting out ink as a defense mechanism. In addition to krill, we find many other mysterious alien-like organisms that evolved to life in the deep sea. These pink ctenophores look like simple blobs of goo, but when they're alive they shine a bioluminescent light show. Crustaceans like these amphipods are abundant and look like something out of science fiction. Glow-in-the-dark lanternfish emerge from the depths in vast numbers. We even encounter tiny but intelligent baby squid which can already change colors at will. One squid looked completely gray until we discovered that it was actually filled with ink, which it shot out as a defense mechanism.
