The speaker discusses the first MIE standard, which emphasizes the importance of aligning content knowledge with appropriate instruction. They explain that this involves teachers understanding the central concepts of the disciplines and creating engaging learning experiences for students. Aligning content appropriately can help students better understand the material and can also prevent behavioral issues. It also helps teachers meet their students' individual needs. The speaker mentions that they will discuss the self-score later in the discussion. First, here on our list of our MIE standards that we're going to unpack, we have MIE standard number one, content knowledge aligned with appropriate instruction. And the direct translation of what that looks like is an apprentice teacher understanding the central concepts, structures, and tools of inquiry of the disciplines and creates learning experiences that make these aspects of subject matter meaningful and engaging for students. And so, my translation of that or more of like what I thought the relevance of what that kind of meant is that it was important for being able to extend the depth of knowledge whenever you're teaching. If you can, you know, align the content appropriately and make sure that it's not too difficult, then you're going to help them understand it better. And it serves as a preventative behavioral management strategy, you know, if you teach engaging lessons that captivate your students, then you're going to have less behavioral outbursts. And it also helps establish a more well-rounded teacher that can better meet their students' individual needs. And for now, we're going to ignore the self-score. We're going to come back to that after visiting the artifacts, so that's going to be kind of the format that we follow here.
