And I wrap up tonight with a GEA and absolute devastation and heartbreak for the footballers, the adult footballers of Ní Féin an Clóchan County Intermediate Championship quarterfinal. Clifton won 15, Glenmaddy 18 points after extra time. And Glenmaddy won the penalty shootout there 5-3. And they now go into the last four of this year's County Intermediate Championship. Equal devastation and heartbreak for the junior footballers of Cumann Péal Cárna Chaiseal. An sgóir deardanach ó rathmoch sa Cliffacanna sin seoisear baird an uírthair. Good evening listeners and welcome to Connemara Community Radio and Talk Sport on this Monday evening the 14th of October 2024. Clifton lose in a penalty shootout against Clendon Maddy. Very unlucky there. And Connemara defeated by Chulm 12 points to 10 and they were away in that game. And the Under-16s, Gerrard had a great win so congratulations to them. And Greece defeated Ireland by two goals and in. And the United States Grand Prix next Sunday October the 20th. Coming up I will have Bernard Lee and Paul Gannon and Tony Kine. I have online now Tony Kine. Welcome Tony. Thanks. It was heartbreaking loss on Saturday. It was as you said there. In the penalty shootout. Yeah, knocked out. Knocked out the penalty shootout with the quarter-final challenge against Clendon Maddy. And yeah, right as I say, one of these games right down to the wire. And that's the rule now. It's winner on day and extra time. Yeah, it's a bit unfair but anyway. It's unfair but tough on side. The one thing I was listening to about where we're being. And Clifton had a free about 60 metres over to where the time was up. Was that the situation? Yeah, we actually. It was a long way out I suppose. A long way out, right? I talked to maybe Ian Staunton. I said, but who was it? Just too far. I think it was just too far. What was it? Yeah, it was just too far. Really, really long way out. I mean, it was over the 60 metres. Yeah, it was against the Brees as well. Yes, the Brees. You know, a tough and a tough free last kick of the game. So no, it was, you know, as I said, to try it direct. I just don't think it would have made it. Yeah, yeah. Which is just unfortunate. It was closer in. He would certainly have had a goal. Yeah. Just outside his range, really. Just too far outside his range. But no, I just say, you know, it was just one of the days that looked as we were. You know, it was a game that, you know, we were seven points down at half time. We started decent enough for the first 10 minutes. It was two points all. We were going well. The Glen of Addy just seemed to get a hold on us. And the scores just came easier for them than us. And 10-3 down at half time. You know, a lot of people would have written us off. Yes, but you were playing against the Brees. There was a stiffish enough Brees. It wasn't taking an ultimate difference there. It was funny enough, it seemed to change even at half time. It seemed to go more past the pitch in the second half than anything else. But, you know, we got a great start in the second half. Conagy got in for a goal, you know, and that brought us right back into the game. And, you know, we kept tugging away at them and got them down to a couple of points. And then, I suppose, the turn of play in the second half. They got a penalty a few minutes in the end. There were three points up at that stage. That would have put them six up. But Ian pulled off a great save. You know, that was a well struck penalty. Yes, that was a great save. It was a 45, wasn't it? Yes, knocked it out for a 45, you know. I actually was surprised it didn't tether over the bar because that might have kept them close. Yes, it was funny enough. I talked myself in white, but the world came from the sideline. I could hear the manager shouting in, tell whoever to go for goal. So, obviously, they were going for the joker. They were going for the joker. They nearly rebounded. It almost rebounded on them. It almost rebounded on them. Well, of course, Clifton could have got a goal. Well, of course, you never know. You never know. It's easy to be worried after the event. Easy to be worried after the event. We don't want to come back. Yes, that was a great comeback. It was a great comeback, you know, right into injury time. And then Gerrard kicked a great free right at the end, you know. Yes, that was a tricky free. It was tricky free. It was right over the left-hand side. I was listening to the commentary in Galway Bay and they were saying it's a very tricky free. Very tricky free, but he absolutely nailed it, you know. He nailed it. He put it over the black spot. He did actually. Come to think of it, looking at it from the moment he hit it, you could see it was on its way. That tied up the game. So, then we were preparing for extra time. We knew we were right back in the game. We had a good opening start. We got the first two scores. We were two points up, just 10 minutes each way. Now, at this stage, the players were really beginning to get tired. It was tough going from both sides. I said that we could have got another point or two. I think we would have had two points or two. Yeah. Even a point, I think, would have made it. An extra point might even have, you know, it's got three other things. Had we any chances of a snow? We had a couple of half-chances, you know, because we all said we had two half-chances. But the scores, as I said, they were becoming difficult to combine. So, yeah, two points up the first period. Then they came back the second period. They got the first two quick scores. They got a point, and then we got a point back. And, you know, going into the last few minutes, it really could have gone anywhere, really. There was a couple of half-chances here and there. So, yeah, we ended up then at level again, won 15 to 18 points. And then the Dreddler penalty shootout happened. And, unfortunately, they scored all theirs. We were the best one, so they won 5-3 on penalty. So, yeah, that was misfortune. Just misfortune. But, look, at that stage, it's a lottery when it comes to penalties. It's really hard. It could go anywhere, yeah. Yeah, guys, you look at those five guys, they're brave enough to stand up and say they'll have a go. When you lose, somebody has to miss. That's the unfortunate thing. It's tough on them. But, yeah, it was just, you know, as I said, that's just one of these days that, you know, things go against you and you're on the final throne. And, yeah, so devastating, as you can imagine, for the lads afterwards, you know. Horrible way to lose. Their heart is desperate, yeah. So that, unfortunately, brings the curtain down on the Intermediate Firsts for this year. Yeah, that's a pity. And, of course, they'll hardly win an Ota, will they, Danny Maddy? You don't look as tired to know. I look at their job. Yeah, I think Calistra are very good. I think Calistra and Odenmoor have probably been the two most impressive teams. They've won all the group games. They both won again on Saturday. Calistra beat Connolly and Odenmoor beat Paddy Gabbard 10 points in the end. You know, they're scoring well. Big score again on Saturday, 117. But, you know, you don't know Calistra. Danny Maddy, it's a local, not Derby, you know, not Portugal. Anything can happen on the day. I've seen it in the league, you know, who he is can be turned upside down. Calistra will be favourites, confident going in too, but on any day, you don't know. Probably expect Calistra. The other game, I think, is going to be that tighter Odenmoor and St. Michael's, you know, St. Michael's. Funny enough, they met in the earlier group stages, Odenmoor beat them that day by a few points. There wasn't much in it, so that's going to be much tighter there. Again, at this stage, you know... I'd say Odenmoor are favourites there. Odenmoor are probably favourites. I'd say at this stage, Odenmoor and Calistra will probably be side favourites to qualify, but it will be a fight, yeah, to see either Danny Maddy or Michael's or... The other way around, yeah. Yeah, you know, I think at this stage, you know, there's really not a lot in the teams, really. It's all going to be on the day, who's going to be the better team on the day. And, you know, there are two semi-finals, I think there'll be two close games, there won't be much in them. And, as I say, they're hard to call, two games that are really, really hard to call, but probably Calistra, Vance and Danny Maddy, and I'd say the other game, Odenmoor, Michael's. I think that might even take an extra time in that one, to sort of... I think that'd be much closer, yeah, on the day as well. So, yeah, that's what's left now, the intermediates at this stage. Well, Clifton had a great run, really. Ah, we had a good one, as you said, we had a great run, you know, we certainly did this year, we had a good year, you know, league, we got promoted in the league, so we'll be in a higher league next year, which is good. And, you know, a great run of the Championship at the end of the day, you know, we won our three group games and just, you know, beat them by beating them. Yes, that's right. In the quarter-finals. So, yeah, you know, overall, I think now we've, you know, we've established ourselves as a decent intermediate club and, you know, that's important too, you know, we've laid down the mark on others, you know, hopefully, you know, that's just a case of, you know, next year, just, you know, go again now, again next year, but the lads, I think they'll certainly see this, you know, we're more than competitive, we can compete in a world right up there with the top teams and there's very, you know, I think there's a call there of nine, ten teams and intermediates, let me know that there's very, there's just a kick of the ball really between them and it's a very, very, very, very competitive Championship. That's right, but as I said before, that's a very good Clifton team, I think. It certainly is a very, very good Clifton team overall and, you know, we've, you know, this year there's, you know, a bit of youth coming through again this year, which has been great, you know, we've put youth through for the last few years again this year, now we have the younger guys, you know, that were involved there, you know, Patrick Kaney and Cillian Gannon were involved there on Saturday, you know, they're 17, 18 years of age, they're young lads and it's great experience for them, you know, and there's other young lads, you know, Callum King is coming through there and then we've had, you know, Ronan Lang and Aniky Goan and Sean Kamili from previous years coming through as well, so, you know, these lads are all under 20, they're under 19, you know, and they're all young lads and you need that, you need that coming through, so there's a good mixture there with the more experienced guys obviously there, you know, as well, and so there's a good blend of a mix there, so you'd hope, you know, yeah, there's a good squad there, so we hope you have the new Clifton squad to stick together, we hope they stick together and be around again next year and, as I said, you know, a lot to build on certainly from this year, a lot of positives to be taken out of this year overall, right, now in the underage is there anything? Just at the other age, there's just one game outside, you know, the under 17s have a Shield final, a County Shield final there to play and that's on now next Sunday, they're going to be playing Clamborough, so they went for a task yesterday evening for the venue one day, we were lucky enough to win that task, so that final is going to be played in Clifton next Sunday at 3pm. Oh, that's great. Yeah, so that'll be the finish for them then, so they're done with it, they were lucky enough to knock out the Championship they went into this evening, they've won a few rounds there and that, so Clamborough came through the other side of it, so yeah, so that'll be the final game. They have a good chance of that, I imagine. Ah, they have a good chance to beat them if they're on the Championship this year as well, as I said, I think the minor team, you know, they were improving as the year went on, they were unlucky in the Championship, they just lost out and scored in different, to qualify for the knockout stages, so yeah. I see. Yeah, so it's good for them, I was also hoping, as I said too, it's nice to get to finals and nice to win them when you get there, so yeah, they're going to prepare now for that final. The best of luck to Shane and all the lads there next weekend, so next Sunday at 3 o'clock. Next Sunday at 3 o'clock in Clifton. Yeah, in Clifton, yeah. Right. The lotto, how is it? Yeah, we're out again next Friday night, that's next Friday night, so we're down there in Lowry's bar there. Oh, Lowry's. Lowry's, which we'll probably draw again on Friday night. Right. All of us, obviously, good night there, there's also a bit of music there on the Friday night, so hopefully we'll have a nice crowd there for that, and as I said, we'll be drawing the winner, winner is always guaranteed on the night, so it'll be nice. Grand. Okay, so there's nothing else, Tony, so... No, I think that's it for now, I think that's a bit of a cover for now. Yeah. Okay, thanks for taking our call, and Sherp, we will talk to you, who'll win the £1,000 next weekend. That's fine, okay, thanks for the call. Hopefully. Okay, man. God bless, bye-bye. So that was Tony Kynes, and so I'm looking for a subscription to do it out, and penetration to do it out. Connemara Community Radio. King's Paper Shop Clifton are looking for part-time staff. Sweeney Oil, I'm Ballochus Jolie. To watch our Under-16s defeat Nevwara, who represent the Ormormarry area, in an Under-16 Division 3 Championship Shield Final. And we're so proud of them. And a huge thanks to Adrian Mitchell, the manager, and Jessica Hansen and the whole Under-16 team there for all the work they put in all year. And, you know, it wasn't easy and they had some tough matches along the way and they stuck at the process and, you know, showed great kind of resilience and perseverance and reserved their best form for the latter end of the season in Championship and picked up a shield in the process there last Saturday. So just, you know, kudos to them. Like, you know, well done to them. Have you a big squad in the Cornwall Isles? Yeah, with a good Under-16 squad and a good spread like from, I suppose, our region would extend from Killary Harbour in the north all the way across to, I suppose, Dogs Bay in Roundstone, that area there. So, yeah, a good spread of players and it's needed, like, you know, so all areas, all areas well represented. And we only had, I think, two Under-14 players included in the squad and they'd be the two girls who made the Goal of the Under-14, Aneesha Barry and Ava Mitchell, who were... They're two very good players, yeah. Yeah, so they would have been the two goalkeepers in the Goal of the Under-14 squad. So, Aneesha played in goal and Ava played outfield and there was a significant switch made, I suppose, at half-time where Ava was moved from the half-forward line into full-on midfield for the second half and that was a very significant change that really had to go on Wales. That team would have Avril Keneally and Siobhan Keneally, who played in Tuned Stadium, they would be on our adult team. And they were very much standout players as well, particularly Siobhan Keneally, the County Under-16. She really gave a clear of the match performance in midfield. And, I suppose, as, you know, someone involved in adult management, it was great for myself to have to go down as well and just have a look at these players because we're hoping to have a good squad of an A team next year and a B team at adult level and keep everyone playing football. And, you know, there may be some players now who might be looking at retirement in our adult squad and we're going to need to bring the youth through. So, I suppose, I was basically down as a supporter the last day, just supporting my club, supporting my godchild as well. That's right. Yeah, Siobhán Ferganen was playing corner back. I suppose multiple reasons, both personal and strategic for going down, you know. But just a huge well done to all the players and credit to, you know, Adrian and to Jessica and to Mary Madden, who's the other member of management, for the way they went about their business. And the girls played very solid, structured, attractive brand of football on the day. And I was really, really proud and impressed with that. Like, you know, they moved the ball well. The only Achilles heel, but this seems to be a bit of a malaise to outgrowing the way it seems at the moms. And it's something we're going to have to deal with in the short, medium and long term. Our conversion rate is just way below what it should be. And the final score was 4-11 to 4-4. But Gráinne-Weill's created enough chances to score 8-22, which would be double that figure. The Ní Dhuire conversion rate on less possession was much higher and kept them in it right to the end when really we should have been out of sight, you know. And then Ní Dhuire got it back to three points with about six minutes to go, 4-7 to 4-4. A couple of counter-attacking situations from them, and they got goals out of it. They had some very good individual players, Ní Dhuire. They would, their A-team are the under-16 county champions. So Ní Dhuire, who have massive numbers, as would the likes of Clare Galway, Sol Tilnach, Nakara. These are like kind of like super clubs now because they're just such huge numbers. So what Ní Dhuire would have done is they would have brought some of their under-14 A-teams probably in for that final, which certainly made our task a lot more difficult, you know. So they would have had individual players with like lightning speed and a skill set to match. So there was always a danger of the concession of goals on the counter-attack, and it came to pass in the second half. And you're thinking, you know, a lack of ruthlessness on our part down the far end was then punished at the other end. And all of a sudden we're hanging on like it's really, really tight, just three points with about six minutes to go. And unlike Tuam Stadium the previous week, we were also three down in the Adel final, completely dominated the last seven minutes against St. Ferzee's, had six shots on goal and missed half of them and lost by a point. But in contrast to that, in Killam on last Sunday, our under-16s took over completely when they looked most vulnerable. They protected their lead and they tagged on four excellent points to close out a seven point winning margin. I just took a bit of inspiration from that, you know. So they showed a kind of a mental and emotional fortitude and didn't allow themselves to, you know, snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, shall we say, which sometimes happens, you know. So just really, really proud. And it was just the perfect lift that our club needed, you know, after the devastation of not getting over the line in Tuam. And it's the resilience factor in our club. And many of those players will be out again now, Viv, next Sunday at home, either in Clifton or Letterfrack, in a minor Division Three Championship Shield semi-final against Ankara Rua. So the only team left to finish out their season at the moment in Going to Wales are the minors, the under-18s. And Division Three now in LGFA is quite a respectable level because in all underage groups now in LGFA, you're looking at, you know, you're down as deep as Division Seven, Division Eight. So it's a pretty decent level of football, you know. The Shield title is the one that is played off between the four teams in the bottom half of the division, with the cup being decided by the top half after the initial rounds of matches. So the Shield champions could be considered in overall terms. Sorry, Paul, we seem to have lost Vivian there, but continue on with that. I'll just say that the Shield winners could rightfully be considered to be the fifth strongest team in their division. So it's a lovely structure that LGFA has. And it's, you know, it's more games for teams. And it means that all teams within the Division of Eight, you know, get an opportunity for honours. And I suppose, you know, we would be pressing on next year and hoping to get our teams into, you know, cup semifinals and hopefully cup finals. So the Shield is very much a stepping stone. And it took a number of county board meetings as far back as 2011 to get that structure in. And it's been massively beneficial to LGFA and some of the best finals over the years have been Shield finals. So we have a kind of policy in the club at the moment that we don't want any of our A teams in underage operating at a level that is lower than Division Three. And, you know, our adult team, our Division Two lead team. So we're trying to keep the levels as high as we possibly can. And I think that's a very important thing within the club. Just to finish with the LGFA part of this interview, Kierna Castle are in action in the other minor semifinal next Sunday. They happen to also be in Division Three and under 18. So there is a possibility of a Granuel Kierna Castle under 18 Division Three Championship Shield final in a couple of weeks time. Brilliant. And that would be an absolutely wonderful occasion if it could happen. So those two minor semifinals are on next Sunday. Don't have a specific time yet, but we might get that out on Friday night's program. OK. And Paul, it's great to see that there's a lift in your mood compared to this time last week after the defeat. Just to mention as well, you mentioned a darts tournament that's possibly up and coming. Well, it's not so much a tournament as an organization that a few of us have got together. We've had discussions about this going back a number of months, and I suppose the initial discussion was held between James Joyce, who's a top darts player. He'd be at Premiership level in Connemara and Galway. He'd be a county player as well. And really it was just a discussion to try and put an infrastructure into darts that would give us the same status as soccer, rugby, GAA, LGFA, where you'd have divisions and competitions like League, Cup and all that kind of thing. Other guys who have come on to this kind of de facto unofficial committee with me in recent weeks are Dan O'Malley, who's a fantastic guy locally in terms of darts. Dermot Flaherty is another man that said he will lend a hand at committee level. And a bit further south is Joey Ridge, who is an excellent darts player in his own right, and also a key mover down in Arras, Anioc, down there in the Cairnacastle, Muiris area. So basically the plan is to set up an organisation called the Connemara Darts Federation for the purpose of organising leagues based on the PDC Premier League. And we'll all be glued over Christmas watching the World Championships. So bringing it back to local level, we're hoping to get 40 lads. And we may get more, we may get significantly less. But what I can guarantee is that there will be at least 40 lads will be made aware of what we're hoping to do. And the plan is really if we could get 40 to divide them into five divisions. And of course, the grading process will take some time. And there might be a certain level of contention. Some guys might be graded higher than what they feel they're fit for. And some guys might be graded lower and consider that they should be in a higher grade. But anyway, we'll have to go through that. We'll probably factor in all the Memorial Cups that have been held over the past two to three years in terms of who the winners were there. I think a lot of the darts community know themselves anyway, who, for the most part, who the top eight are. So then we have a Premier League Championship, Division One, Division Two, Division Three. And then we have our venues as in Sweeney's in Claddagh Duff, McGrath in Clifton, Mollie's in Letterfrack, Chathanging, Cheap Plunkett down in Oinkenther and in Ilan. And we have Glinsk House in Connemara Lor. And obviously Kewls in Valley Keneally. These are all the iconic darts venues. And the plan would be then that there would be, every Friday night, there would be league matches going ahead in all the respective pubs. But it'll be every man for himself. So it'll be very much styled the same as the PDC Premier. And every player will play 14 matches. So they'll play their seven opponents twice. We also hope to factor in a doubles league within that where we draw for partners on night one. And then you'll have your doubles partner. And it'll be a corresponding parallel doubles league. And the doubles match will probably serve as the warm-up match on the night that the singles matches would be played. And then it all culminates in night eight when you have your top four, one against four, two against three. And you'll have your Premiership Champion, your Championship Champion, your Division One. With probably the seventh and eighth players then being relegated and the two finalists from the division immediately below being promoted. So these are all the bits and pieces that we've put together. And it won't in any way detract from competitions that are currently ongoing in pubs, you know, where they have local house competitions. I know that for the past couple of years, there's been fantastic darts going on here locally in Molly's on the Thursday night where they have a brilliant infrastructure put in. And there's a lot of guys, probably 20 guys on average, turning up and they're playing away. And then you have all the Memorial Cup competitions. There are so many of them now. So the Federation matches on Friday night won't in any way detract or interfere with all of what's been going on in recent years. So we hope that the darts players around Connemara will certainly want to engage in the process. And, you know, as a bunch of organisers, myself and the lads, we're very excited by it. And we're just really hoping that it will be a runner. And then we would hope to grow it over the next five years into, you know, underage development, possibly culminating in maybe representative Connemara teams. I mean, the scope, the potential is absolutely massive. And on a personal level, I just I love watching darts. I don't play darts myself as such, but I think it's a wonderful sport. And there's a huge tradition of darts in Connemara. And it would be great to bring it back centre stage again. We did have the Connemara Darts Association going back, we'll say, 10 to 15 years. And there were inter-pub leagues at that time where you had team competitions. We feel that presently it's probably a better idea to go with, you know, every man for himself. We would also hope to have a women's league as well, which I, you know. It'll certainly give it a platform in Connemara again, Pauline. Well, we hope so, like, so, you know, we'll try it anyway and see and see how it goes. Now we'll do a roundup of the weekend soccer results. Now the international break was on there. So it was a break from the premiership pictures. And in the UEFA Nations League, in League B, Ireland were in action. There were two matches over the period. And they got off to a good start. It was the first win under new manager Helmut Helgelsen. And they were away to Finland. And despite going behind to a poorly conceded goal, they managed to fight back and get their first victory under the new management. And that was a big boost to all concerns. So 2-1 away to Finland there was a good result for them. And then following on, they had the match against Greece. And that was the second of the weekend pictures. Greece proving to be very strong opposition there after a victory over England at Wembley. Their first victory there, 2-1. And they were quite confident on top of the group. And they worked into a 2-0 win there. Second goal was a bit of a giveaway there when Kevin Kelleher mislaid a back pass to one of his defenders and Greece got in for the second goal. But it was a good game. So good victory for Greece, 2-0 there. And certainly it's been a very successful period for them. So Greece on top in Group 2 in the league there. 12 points from their four games, scoring nine and only conceding one. England from their four games have nine points. And Ireland from their four games have three points. And Finland's bottom on no points. But again, two more matches to go. Ireland in the next international break will be at home to Finland and away to England. So matches, I suppose, will be very interesting. They're Greece consolidating at the top there. It's been a very good period for them. And England may be a bit disappointed to lose. So under Lee Carsley there, the interim manager, three wins and one defeat. They're maybe not the best results for him. But he's still in place for the next few matches. And as I said, a little bit of a boost. So even in the defeat to Greece, Ireland showed good promise in the second half. And I think there will be a lot of people, hopefully, expecting that good things are about to turn for the team. So we'll see a lot of new players coming into the squad as well. Now some of the other matches there. Wales are in their Group 4. They're second in their group. Turkey are on top from their three games with seven points. And Wales have five points from their three games. So Scotland went down to defeat in their league matches there. And so they're struggling a little bit as well. And as I said, the next international break should be very interesting to see how those matches go. But at the moment, Greece in Ireland's group, top on 12 and the favourites maybe to qualify top of that and to pit England to the qualification positions there. Now the English premiership will be back in action after the international break at the weekend and some interesting fixtures up and coming. So we'll just do a preview of the potential results there and forecasts for next weekend. Tottenham will play West Ham United in a London derby there. And Tottenham on the back of a disappointing defeat to Brighton will be looking to get back in winning ways there. So I would expect them at home there to win that one 3-1 home win for Spurs in that. Fulham will play Aston Villa. Fulham going well as well. Aston Villa up at the top of the table. And I'm going to go with a 1-1 draw in that fixture. Ipswich will be up against Everton. Everton showing a bit of a revival there in good form recently. And Ipswich again down at the bottom end of the table. But still on their day able to produce a result. I'm going to go with 2-2 in that. It honours Stephen and both teams would be happy if it finishes like that. Now Manchester United going through a little bit of a lull at the moment as well. And pressure on the manager. So Erik ten Hag will be hoping for a home win against Brentford in their fixture there on Saturday. And I'm going to go with a possible home win for United. I'm going to go 2-1 to ease the pressure on Erik ten Hag in that fixture. Newcastle will be up against Brighton. Now Brighton are a very surprised package. Getting the good win coming from 2-0 down against Spurs to get the win there before the international break. And Newcastle at home. Maybe results and goals are scarce in recent matches. Home advantage should benefit Newcastle. But I'm going to go with 1-1 draw in that one. Honours even. Southampton will play Leicester. This is the bottom of the table fixture. And I think Southampton will need the points more than Leicester. And I'm going to go with a 2-1 win for Southampton in this one. Now Bournemouth will be up against Arsenal. Arsenal are doing very well at the top of the table. And they should have enough for Bournemouth. Bournemouth decent enough at home. I think Arsenal will have to score at least two to win it. And I'm going to give them an away win. Two goals to one. And to consolidate their position at the top of the table. Wolves then will be at home to Manchester City. Manchester City going quite well. Still undefeated. Second to Liverpool in the table. But Manchester City hopefully will get back to winning ways. They had a win in the last one that followed earlier by two draws. So they have lost a couple of points. But as I said, still undefeated. So I'm going to go with an away win for Manchester City in that. Wolves won. Manchester City three. And then we have Liverpool and Chelsea. That's an interesting fixture there. On the Sunday, I think Liverpool at home to Chelsea. Chelsea going well. And I think Liverpool though top of the table might struggle to beat Chelsea in this one. I'm going to go with a 1-1 in that match. That would be a good result for Chelsea if they manage to do that. And Nottingham Forest then up against Crystal Palace in their final match of the Sunday afternoons there. I think Palace going well in some regards. Decent enough. Hard enough to beat. But unlucky in some results. Nottingham Forest has picked up a few good results. And home advantage there. I'm going to go with a home win for Nottingham Forest. Two goals to one. So just looking at the table as things stand. Now we have Liverpool on top with 18 points from their seven games. And only conceded two goals. Manchester City second on 17 points. They've conceded eight. Arsenal there on 17 points also. Haven't conceded six. And then you have Chelsea in fourth position. Aspenville in fifth. Brighton sixth. And Newcastle seventh. And then you go down to Fulham in eighth. And Tottenham in ninth. Nottingham Forest going well in tenth position. Then at the bottom of the table, you have Wolves on the bottom there with one point. Also with Southampton on one point. And then Crystal Palace on three points. Ipswich on four. Everton on five. Leicester on six. And Manchester United just above them on eight points. So they're in 14th position. So they really need to pick up some points. It's one of the lower positions for Manchester United after seven games for many, many years. But it looks like those teams near the bottom will be in those positions for the rest of the year. Though I do expect Everton to pull away. Possibly with Sean Deutsch there to get some decent results. But the rest of them will probably be struggling there for the rest of the season. Now we'll just have a look at some of the leading goalscorers in the Premiership. Erling Haaland there from Manchester City is on top with 10 goals. Cole Palmer for Chelsea is second there with six goals and also five assists. Brian Mbemo from Brentford is there on six goals. Lucas Diaz for Liverpool is there on five goals. And you have Mo Salah and Nicholas Jackson and Olly Watkins there with four goals. Salah for Liverpool, Jackson for Chelsea and Watkins for Aston Villa. And in the top Arsenal goalscorer is Kai Havertz there on four goals. And also Danny Welbeck from Brighton on four. And that's how things stand at the minute. Now we'll have a look across some of the top leagues in Europe as they stand. In Spain, in La Liga, Barcelona after nine matches are top on 24 points. They're ahead of their rivals Real Madrid who are second on 21 points. Atletico Madrid are third on 17 points and Villarreal fourth on 17 points. So that's how it's shaping up. It'll probably be between the two big ones there, Barcelona and Real Madrid for the title there. And it's hoped, I suppose, there'll be a good battle in European football as well. Real Madrid at the moment starting out as favourites for the Champions League with their recent good record. Barcelona trying to get back to the top table in Europe and lots of new and young players there in Barcelona. But it's had a good start to the season and Robert Lewandowski there scoring freely for them and again they have some new and up-and-coming players there. So possibly the future bright there for the return to the good old days for Barcelona. Now in the Bundesliga in Germany Bayern Munich are top on 14 points from six matches. RB Leipzig are second on 14 points as well with a slightly lesser goal difference. And Eintracht Frankfurt are third on 13 points. And then you go down to Freiburg and Bayer Leverkusen who were the champions from last year, they're in fifth place there on 11 points. So again it's interesting to see. I suppose Harry Kane there near the top of the goalscoring figures there on five goals. He had a very good season last year. And you also have Michael Ollis from Bayern Munich there who came from the Premiership. And again you have it very interesting to watch the progress of Bayern Munich with Harry Kane. We know he's never won a major trophy and up to a good start they will have the German Cup as well and of course in the Champions League hoping to do well in that. But early days yet but interesting to note that I suppose Bayern up to a decent start and Leverkusen may be dropping points early on as well. So some good matches ahead in the Bundesliga. Now in League 1 in France, the French League there Monaco are on top after seven games on 19 points. Paris Saint-Germain second on 17 points. Marseille are fourth on 14 points. So interesting that Monaco top over PSG. I know PSG have lost some players like Mbappe in recent years but they're still the big force to be reckoned with in French football. Interesting to see how they go over the course of the season. Now always interesting to see Serie A and the Italian League there on top after seven games there is Napoli on 16 points. Second is Inter Milan on 14 points. Third is Juventus on 13 points and then you have Lazio on 13, Udinese on 13 and AC Milan down there in sixth place on 11 points. Now we'll keep an eye on the Scottish Premiership and after seven games there Celtic are on top on 21 points from their seven games. 22 goals scored and only one goal conceded and even though it mightn't be the most competitive league I think that might rank as the best defensive record in European football at the moment just one conceded. Aberdeen are second on 21 points with an inferior goal difference and then Rangers back on 16 points after the first seven matches. So it's going to be interesting to see how the league continues down there and there's some Irish connections there with Celtic of course and always a good Celtic connection there. Aida there who was featuring prominently for them both in the Scottish League and for the Republic of Ireland. But some big matches up and coming there and again it's always interesting to see who emerges on top there and also they have some matches in Europe as well. Celtic maybe not the best European record in recent years but they've got one or two big hammerings there and I think the fans would be hoping for a half decent run in Europe but obviously more an eye on winning the domestic league there and to stay on top of Rangers. After their very strong rivalry there over the many years. Now of course the Premier Division in the League of Ireland has been fascinating this year as well and it's been interesting to watch Galway United up at the top end of the table. As it stands there's just two or three matches left to go and it's anybody's for the taking. Shelburne are top on 54 points from 33 matches. Shemmock Rovers are second on 52 points from 33. Derry City then with one game in hand are on 51 points. So I think the way it stands is if Shelburne win their final three games they'll be champions and equally Derry City and the fascinating fixture at the end of it all will be Derry at home to Shelburne in the final match of the season there. So that could be a title decider. Galway United there on 50 points from their 33 games in fourth position. Still in with a chance of getting in the top three or in the top two even and to get into European football that would be a huge achievement and they have a little bit of a gap back to 47 points from St Patrick's Athletic and Sligo Rovers who both have a game in hand. So there's a few drop points there by Galway in recent games particularly to Drogheda and Drogheda have now gone on to reach the FAI Cup final there even though they're down at the bottom end of the table with Dundalk but they've had a good end to the season there at Drogheda but overall very good season for Galway United and as I said hopefully one or two wins in the final few fixtures should secure them in a very favourable position there hopefully in the top three. Now we'll move on with some other items of world sport just to say in Formula One the next round in the championship is in the USA at the weekend there. And a very interesting battle emerging there between Max Verstappen and Lando Norris for the driver's title. Max Verstappen is on 331 points and Norris on 279 points. Charles Leclerc a little bit further back in third place on 245 points and in the team standings McLaren have emerged as the favourite to win that. They are on 516 points, Red Bull are on 475 points and Ferrari on 441 points. So there's just about half a dozen races to go so you have the USA, Mexico, Brazil followed by Las Vegas, Qatar and then the final race of the season on the 8th of December in Abu Dhabi so it will be interesting to see if there is a title battle for that last race. But the race in the USA at the weekend will be fairly significant and if either driver fails to finish for whatever reason between Norris and Verstappen it certainly would make a big change to the situation. But Lando Norris chasing that lead from Verstappen and he can't afford to have any real mis-ups where Verstappen possibly could have won or two. But very competitive and it's interesting and good to see it in Formula 1, it hasn't always been the case in the last couple of years. In boxing there was a big light heavyweight boxing match at the weekend there and it was Arthur Betterbiev who came through on point against Dimitry Bivol from Russia. A hotly contested fight that went to 12 rounds and the Betterbiev is undefeated after 21 fights. I think 20 of those were by knockout so this was the first time he was taken the distance but good fight and as I said he is undefeated but Dimitry Bivol very classy boxer and it's likely there will be a rematch in that division. Now we're coming into the winter season. Of course Darts has been ongoing right throughout the summer as well and the world stage I suppose is just becoming more and more matches there. A bit like the snooker where there are just different tournaments on but coming into the winter months now it will be very much a TV sport and at the weekend there was a surprise winner in the world grand prix championship there and this was in Leicester and it was a win for Mike Dedecker who beat world number one Luke Humphries 6-4 and this was an emerging talent there and he certainly will be one to look out for when the world championship comes up there in and around the Christmas period. Surprise finalists had very good wins right throughout the competition and as I said coming out 6-4 over world champion and world number one Luke Humphries. Now in golf there was a rookie winner in the PGA tour there in America when Matt McCarthy claimed his first PGA tour title winning the inaugural Black Desert Championship there and in Europe there was the French competition there the French Open and that was won by England's Dan Bradbury and it was a very highly congested leaderboard but he came out on top in that. Now in athletics there was a world record in the women's marathon for Ruth Cheptekesics. She was the Kenyan runner who clocked 2 hours 9 minutes 57 seconds taking nearly two minutes off the world record held by Ethiopian Assefas a number of years ago and this is certainly a very prominent race to have a world record in and to take more than two minutes off it was a big achievement there. Now the Chicago Marathon is renowned as one of the flatter courses so it's always possible to get good times at it and this was the case in the race there at the weekend. And finally we will wrap up with news of snooker and there was a very good victory and a maiden victory there for Zhao Guodong who became the winner there of the Wuhan Open in China there when he beat his compatriot C Yuwei 10-7 in the final there and it was his first victory after 17 years as a professional and it was interesting to notice that it was the first time two Chinese players had appeared in the final of one of these top competitions but the crowd's a little bit sparse there out in China and in recent matches I suppose snooker matches in Saudi Arabia maybe not the biggest attendance so this is likely to be a problem going forward as a lot more of these top-ranking finals will be held overseas but C Yuwei he's an interesting player he had a 1-4-7 in his match a semi-final victory over Donald Trump and he was the favourite going into this but Guodong played very good snooker just a little bit clever in a safety play and he got his maiden victory so plenty of big matches up and coming we're in the snooker and darts season as it spans and for the television viewers a great sport ahead and big titles coming up like the UK championship the champion of champions and the masters and the world's open as well both before and after Christmas all leading up to the world championship in May April and May so that's a roundup of sport for this week so I think that's about it listeners my thanks to Bernard Lee, Tony Kyan and to Paul Gannon there for giving us all the reports until we speak again next week this is Vivien Sainz-Claude and I'm staying out.
