The speaker considers themselves lucky to have had a strong female role model, Dr. H.R. Gupta, who inspired them to believe in their own abilities. They are hosting a podcast with Dr. Gupta, who is the head of the cardiology department at Krishnal Medical College. The speaker admires Dr. Gupta's success and wants to understand her struggles and journey to her current position. They are eager to begin the interview. I consider myself very lucky because growing up I had a very strong female role model to look up to. I think it's imperative for young girls everywhere to have someone in their lives who makes them believe that they can achieve whatever they set out to. For me it was my aunt, Dr. H.R. Gupta. She carried herself with so much panache, with such an air of confidence, that it was hard not to be inspired by her every second of my life. Hello and welcome to our podcast Coffee Plus Discipline. I am your host Sanjana and with me I have today a very special guest, Dr. H.R. Gupta. She is the head of department at Krishnal Medical College, Vellore. It's under her leadership that the department of cardiology has reached such heights as to become the best department in the country. She is an excellent doctor as well as a prolific researcher and someone who has been extremely ambitious all throughout her life. So welcome to the podcast. Before we begin I just want to tell you that I have always been so inspired by the success you've achieved in your career. It's something that I wanted to emulate in my own career. Not even emulate, I sort of took it for granted that you know, of course I'm going to be like this, I'm going to be successful. It's only when I actually began my career, right, I understood the challenges and the obstacles one has to face as a woman to get to a certain position. And that sort of made me respect you so much more. Not that I didn't respect you earlier, I have like an insane amount of devotion towards you as you already know that. But yes, it sort of made me question a lot of things. And that's why I wanted to have this interview with you today, to understand you know, your struggles of how you got to the place that you are at today. So without further ado, let's just dive into it.
